Proposal for a Joint Pilot Project A complete Solar Tower Plant that fulfills a variety of Purposes: The education of amongst others, Scientists, Students, Operational Staff, Technicians in a complete solar power plant. One or more research platforms can be included to test, validate and compare different receiver concepts for electrical or non-electrical (high temperature) applications under Saudi-Arabian conditions. Localization of research and development and creation of local know-how. 8
Proposal for a Joint Pilot Project Purposes of the heliostat field: Local Production of Heliostats: The German Companies intend to deliver Technology (e.g. Licenses) rather than hardware. The project enables Saudi suppliers to contribute to larger (commercial) projects. Testing and operation of different heliostat types under local conditions Infrastructure for measurement and qualification of heliostat suppliers for other projects (e.g. deflectometry) Development and optimization of heliostat field infrastructure (e.g. customized cabling, wireless) and other innovative technologies (e.g. automatic cleaning systems) 9
