A web-based publication of the ND Implement Dealers Association Brian Hanson Elected NDIDA Chairman Brian Hanson, Dealer Principal, Hansons Auto & Implement, Grafton, ND, was elected chairman of the North Dakota Implement Dealers Association during our organization s 115th annual convention held recently in Bismarck, ND. He has been a member of the NDIDA Board of Directors since 2006 and served as First Vice Chairman during the past year. Brian was raised in the farm equipment business, and is a second generation NDIDA Board Member, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Gary Hanson, who served as NDIDA Chairman in 1999. Gary and business partner Eddie Kopperud established Hanson Kopperud in 1973 as an International Harvester farm equipment and truck dealership. In 1984, they added Chevrolet and Oldsmobile car franchises. In 1985, they were successful in obtaining the CaseIH franchise Brian Hanson after the Case and IH merger. In 1992, Hansons purchased Mr. Kopperud s half of the business, and in 1999, the name was changed to Hansons Auto & Implement. In March of 2000, Hansons purchased Morrison Equipment (CaseIH dealer) in Cavalier. In 2004, they purchased Lykken Inc. (GMC, Buick, and Pontiac dealership) in Grafton. Brian says he started his career as most kids of a family-owned implement business do, working odd jobs, stocking parts and doing clean up through his years at Grafton High School and Valley City State College. He graduated from college in 1990 with a degree in Business Management and Administration, and started full time in the dealership as a parts counter person. In 1992, he assumed the Parts Manager s position, which he held until 2001, when he became General Manager. He assumed the Dealer Principal role in the fall of 2002. Brian is a member of Grafton Lutheran Church, and is currently a member on the church council and has served on several past Boards. He is also a member of the Grafton Optimist Club; Spoiler Booster Club; Grafton Youth Basketball Board; and has served on the Walsh County Job Development Authority of which he is a Past President. Brian and his wife, Ranell, reside in Grafton and have five children: Stephanie (22); Paige (18); Jaden (17); Jillian (17); and Cole (15). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Page 2 Dan Gorder Elected NDIDA 1 st Vice Chairman Dan Gorder, Grafton, was elected 1 st Vice Chairman of the North Dakota Implement Dealers Association during our recent convention in Bismarck. Dan is President of True North Equipment, a John Deere dealership with locations in Grafton, Grand Forks, and Northwood, ND, and Kennedy, MN. He has been a member of the NDIDA Board since 2008. Born and raised in Grafton, Dan attended Grafton High School, then earned a degree in Ag Economics-Marketing from North Dakota State University, Fargo. In 1983, he entered the family business, Grafton Equipment Co, which began as a small company selling John Deere equipment in the late 1950 s. He worked as a parts manager and general manager prior to becoming President. During the period from 2000 to 2007, the business expanded, adding the Grand Forks, Northwood, and Kennedy, MN locations. The name of the business was changed to True North Equipment in 2011. True North Equipment Dan Gorder currently has 120 employees throughout its four locations, and last year completed a 7,000 sq. ft. resource center in Grand Forks, which will be dedicated to employee and customer training, meetings, and other value added services. Dan has served as a member of the Grafton Airport Authority, and is President of the Unity Medical Center Foundation from 2007 to the present. Dan resides in Grafton with his wife, Monica. They have two children: Laura, 23; and Scott, 19. NDIDA 1 st Vice Chairman Dan Gorder, Grafton, and his wife, Monica.
Page 3 Stu Romsdal Elected NDIDA 2 nd Vice Chairman Stu Romsdal, Casselton, was elected 2 nd Vice Chairman of the North Dakota Implement Dealers Association during our recent convention in Bismarck. Stu is an Owner/Sales Consultant of Central Sales, Inc., a Massey Ferguson dealership in Casselton and Jamestown. He has been a member of the NDIDA Board since 2008. Born in Fergus Falls, MN, and raised in Jamestown, Stu attended Jamestown High School, and then attended Moorhead State University and Valley City State College. He entered the family business full time in 1984, and worked as the parts manager of Central Sales, Inc., Jamestown. In 1994, he moved his family to become Sales and Store Manager in the Casselton dealership. The Jamestown store was started in 1974 as an Allis Chalmers dealership by Stu s father, John, and the Casselton store was added in 1989. Stu Romsdal Active in his community, Stu serves as a charter member and past President of the Casselton Lion s Club, a member of St. Leo s Catholic Church, a member of the Casselton Business Association and also served as a school Board member of the Central Cass School District. Stu and his wife, Kim, reside in Casselton. They have three daughters: Kendra, 22; Jordyn, 20; and Macie, 18. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * David Anfinson Elected Newest NDIDA Board Member David Anfinson, Manager of Border Plains Equipment, a Case IH and New Holland dealership in Williston, ND, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Implement Dealers Association. The election took place at the association s 115 th annual convention held recently in Bismarck, ND. David Anfinson Born in Williston, David attended high school in Grenora, ND, and then earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Minot State University, Minot, ND. In the spring of 2007, David began working for Les Olson as a salesman at the former Frontier Equipment, Williston. Frontier Equipment later became part of Border Plains Equipment LLC, with locations in Williston and Stanley, ND, and Glasgow, MT. Border Plains Equipment LLC is part of Plains Ag, which also includes the West Plains Inc. dealer group, with locations in Dickinson, Hettinger, Beach, and Bowman, ND, and Northern Plains Equipment in Mandan, ND. David grew up on a farm, and continues to farm to this day. He also has business interests in real estate and aviation. He and his wife, Teresa, reside in Williston with their children Rachel, (12) and Shawn (10).
