1. Quick Start Controls Overlay Note: Controls Overlay screens are also available by selecting Settings > Controls Overlay 2

2. Social Media Links to Guitar Tunes Facebook and Twitter accounts are located in the upper right-hand corner of the main screen. Share with your friends and family, and be sure to let us know how you like Guitar Tunes! 3. Guitar Tunes Library To see all content in the Guitar Tunes Library, tap the Library icon the Guitar Tunes main screen: located in the upper right corner of The Library is sorted via two tabs, My Library and Store, located at the top of the window. My Library shows only items you have purchased or selected for free download. Store shows items available for purchase or free download. Both My Library and Store can be sorted by categories listed on the left side of the pop-up window. Some categories have subcategories to show specific content. Tap on a category name to display. Search All Content Alphabetical search, beginning with first letter of song title or artist. Default listing, all content is displayed. My Favorites Items you have selected as favorites. To select a favorite, tap the heart icon next to the song. To deselect, tap the heart icon again. Songs Shows only songs. Can be sorted by subcategories: All Songs Show all songs alphabetically Artist Show songs alphabetically by Artist Decades - Show songs by decade released Genre Show songs by genre. i.e., Rock, Blues, Country, etc. Easy Chords Show songs with open chords Free Songs Show songs available for free download 3

Videos Shows only videos. Can be sorted by subcategories: All Videos Show all videos alphabetically Lessons Show Lesson Courses sorted by difficulty Hal Leonard Show Hal Leonard Artist, Play-Along and lesson titles Quick Licks - Show Quick Lick lesson titles 5 Fret Videos Show videos that concentrate on playing in the first 5 frets Free Videos Show videos available for free download Jam Alongs Details Shows only Jam Alongs. Jam Alongs are backing tracks that have preset scales to practice improvisation and solo skills. Swipe on an item title (in Library) and tap Details to see additional information. At the bottom of the My Library tab you have three additional views: All Media On Device In Cloud Show all content purchased or selected for free download Show content currently downloaded to device Show content stored in the cloud, available for download 4. Purchasing and Downloading To purchase media, go to the Store tab in the library and tap the price button next to the desired title. Follow prompts to complete purchase; media will begin to download automatically. Press the play button to begin. To remove media, swipe left on the title and tap Archive. Media will be removed from device and stored in the cloud. To re-download media, simply tap the cloud icon next to the title. Note: You must be connected to the Internet to download content. Download speeds can vary based on your Internet connection. 5. Settings Window Tapping the Settings icon, located in the upper right-hand corner of the main screen, will open the Settings Window. The following options are available: - About this App Current version number - Help Displays this user guide - Controls Overlay Displays Quick Start Overlay of the main screen with control descriptions - Countdown Timer When turned on, Guitar Tunes will display a 2 second countdown timer before song play begins. This allows time to get ready, especially helpful when that solo starts quickly! - Global Left-Hand Mode Change default position for all Virtual Fretboards to Left-hand mode - Fretlight Automatic Part Switching On by default, connected Fretlight guitars will automatically switch to any guitar part selected in the player. - Note Names Options for note display on Virtual Fretboard: Flats displays note played as a Flat Sharps displays note played as a Sharp None no note name will be displayed - Email Guitar Tunes Support/ Feedback Email link to Guitar Tunes Support/Feedback 4

- Keep me up to date about Guitar Tunes! Register and stay up to date on new additions to the song library - Guitar Tunes Legal Information Contains the Guitar Tunes User License Agreement (EULA) 6. Player Controls Player controls use industry standard icons with the following functions: Play Pause Fast-forward 30 seconds Rewind 5 seconds Rewind to previous marker Fast-forward to next marker Volume slider - Tapping any Marker (Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc.) will move to that position - Drag the playhead along the timeline to any desired location Note: Playhead indicator will display a red dot when a Fretlight Guitar is connected 7. Tempo Control Tempo Control is located on the left side, above the Virtual Fretboard. The Song or Video speed will slow while keeping the same pitch to learn at your own pace! 1. Tap Tempo: 100% to open the selection window 2. Select desired Tempo (increments of 5% from 125% to 35%) 3. NOTEStep mode allows step thru one-note-at-a-time a. Select NOTEStep (located at the bottom of tempo increments) b. Tap right or left arrow to move forward or back one-note-at-a-time. c. Tap play to re-start (will play at the last tempo selected) 5

8. Loop Controls Create a custom loop or selection of a song for repetitive playback. This allows easy focus on more difficult parts, or just the solo. Loop controls are located at the bottom center of the Player Control area, above the Virtual Fretboard: - Loop ON indicates Loop mode is turned on Tap to toggle Loop OFF - With Loop mode ON, tap the green Start Flag to set a loop starting position - Tap the red End Flag to set the loop ending position The selection will now Loop allowing easy focus on a specific song area. - Tap Save Loop to Save and Name the custom loop - Tap My Loops to see a listing of saved loops. Selecting a loop will load and activate - To Delete a loop: a. Tap the Edit button in the My Loops window b. Tap the minus icon next to the loop to delete c. Tap the Delete button Note: Custom loops can be created by tap and hold of any Marker name (Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc.). A loop will be created to the next Marker position. 9. Connecting a Fretlight Wireless Guitar Guitar Tunes is fully compatible with the Fretlight Wireless Guitar. Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) or later is required. To connect a Fretlight Wireless Guitar: 1. Turn on Bluetooth in the mobile device 2. Launch Guitar Tunes 3. Tap the Library icon and load a song or video Note: A song or video must be loaded prior to connecting the Fretlight Wireless Guitar 4. To begin the paring process, tap the Fretlight Status icon located on the right side, above the Virtual Fretboard 5. Turn on the Fretlight Wireless Guitar. Paring is automatic and the Fretlight Guitar ID will appear on the list 6. To name the guitar, tap Name your Fretlight and enter a name 7. Click Done to continue Pairing is complete and the Fretlight Guitar is now connected. 6

10. Fretlight Status Window The Fretlight Status icon is located on the right side, above the Virtual Fretboard and will display how many Fretlight Guitars are connected to Guitar Tunes. Guitar Tunes can pair with up to 7 Fretlight guitars at one time. Tap the Fretlight Status icon to open the Fretlight Status Window: - Fretlight Guitars are listed in the order paired - Identify Fretlight Guitars connected to Guitar Tunes: o Tap Identify All Guitars button at the bottom of the Fretlight Status window o The corresponding number of each guitar (1,2,3 ) will be displayed on the bottom 5 frets of each Fretlight Guitar o Tap Identify All Guitars again to turn off identification - Assign specific guitar parts (Rhythm, Lead, Bass) to individual Fretlight Guitars: o Inside the Fretlight Status Window, tap Assigned Part, located under the desired Guitar ID o Select the desired part (Rhythm, Lead, Bass, None) o Tap Done - Left-handed orientation: o To change a Fretlight orientation to left-handed, tap Lefty, located on the right side of the Fretlight Status Window 7

- Bass orientation (for use with a Fretlight Wireless Bass): o To assign a Fretlight Wireless Bass, tap Bass, located on the right side of the Fretlight Status Window - Assign all connected guitars the same part: o Tap Assign Part to All, located at the bottom right of the Fretlight Status window Note: Guitar Name, Lefty and Bass preferences are remembered each time the guitar is paired. 11. Virtual Fretboard Display The Guitar Tunes Virtual Fretboard is located below the song or video timeline at the bottom of the main screen. The Virtual Fretboard displays fingering positions and note names for the guitar part selected. - Each song will display available guitar parts below the Virtual Fretboard ( Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Bass, and Easy Chords ) - Tap the desired guitar part to display an additional Virtual Fretboard (up to 4 Virtual Fretboards can be displayed simultaneously) 8

12. Left-hand Mode Left-handed players can flip any Virtual Fretboard to Left-Hand Mode. - To toggle Left-hand Mode: o Tap the Nut on the Virtual Fretboard o Tap again to toggle back to Right-hand Mode Right-hand Mode Left-hand Mode Note: Default Left-hand mode for all Virtual Fretboards: Settings > Global Left-Hand Mode. 13. SMART Fretboard Mode SMART Fretboard Mode will automatically zoom in to the active area of the Virtual Fretboard during playback. For example, if a particular part only uses 6 frets, SMART Fretboard Mode will zoom in to show only the active frets. This is especially helpful when using Guitar Tunes on a small screen or mobile phone. Note: SMART Fretboard Mode is not available when a guitar part uses all 22 frets. Note: Left-hand users should switch to Lefty Mode prior to using SMART Fretboard. - To turn on SMART Fretboard Mode - Tap SMART Fretboard located in the top right-hand corner of the Virtual Fretboard 9

Fretboard will zoom in to show currently active frets. - To turn off SMART Fretboard Mode o Tap the SMART Fretboard text or Tap Done located in the upper left-hand corner of the SMART Fretboard window 14. Tuner Veteran players know not all songs are tuned to A440 pitch. In fact, many songs have individual guitar parts tuned differently in the same song! Guitar Tunes includes tuning information for EVERY Guitar part in EVERY song, and Guitar Tunes includes 2 types of Tuners (Digital and Audio) so players can easily tune to the original recording. Note: Grant Guitar Tunes permission to use the internal microphone on your device to enable tuner function. - To see tuning for a specific guitar part and activate the on-board Tuner: o Tap the Tuner icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the Virtual Fretboard o The Digital Tuner will appear and specific tuning information will appear on top of the tuner. For example, Standard Tuning, Drop D, Tune 1/2 Step Flat, Open E, etc. 10

- To Tune using the Digital Tuner: o Tap on the desired string/note to tune o Strum the associated string on a guitar while watching the Digital Tuner indicator o To close the Tuner, tap anywhere outside the Tuner window - To Tune using the Audile Tuner o Tap Go to Audible located in the upper right-hand corner of the Tuner window o o o Tap the desired string/note located along the bottom of the Tuner window The pitch for the desired note will sound as an audible reference To close the Tuner, tap anywhere outside the Tuner window 15. JAMBar Mode JAMBar Mode will display a preset scale on the top most Virtual Fretboard for songs and Jam-Alongs. o Tap JAMBar located on the right side above the Virtual Fretboard. This will display the scale and key for the current song. o Left wheel allows selection of a new scale o Center wheel allows selection of a different key o Right wheel allows display of a different position/form of the scale on the Virtual Fretboard Note: Tap the text Show Preset in the JAMBar section to re-load the preset scale for the song or jam along. 11

16. Video Player Controls Load a video from the library to bring up the Guitar Tunes Video Player Controls. Video Player controls use industry standard icons with the following functions: Play Pause Fast-forward 30 seconds Rewind 5 seconds Rewind to previous marker Fast-forward to next marker Volume slider and a few controls unique to videos: - Chapter Selection (located to the right of video window) - Full Screen Mode (arrows located at the bottom right of video window) 12

Here you can view the video full screen and show or hide the virtual fretboard by tapping this button. The video controls will hide after a few seconds but tapping anywhere on the video screen will bring them up again. 17. Chords and Scales Tap the Chords and Scales icon next to the Library icon to open the Chords and Scales feature o Tap on the blue text Category to select what you wish to display (i.e. open chords, chords, scales, chord tones, intervals, triads and inversions, notes, and all notes) o Tap on the blue text Type to select what type of chord or scale you wish to show (i.e. major, minor etc.) o Tap on the blue text Note/Key to set the key for the chord or scale o Tap on the blue text Position/Form to set the position or form of the chord or scale (You can cycle through the forms with the blue arrows that appear below) o Tap the button for Blink Root Notes to have the root notes blink on the fretboard (the speed of the blink can be set by moving the slider underneath). Root notes will show in dark blue on the Virtual Fretboard 13
