1.0 Operation Introduction This LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller User Guide (P/N ) provides the information necessary to operate a Legrand RF Lighting system controller. There is also an Installation Sheet included with the LC7001 Controller that covers its physical installation (P/N ) and setup. 1.1 LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller Overview The LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller works in conjunction with the Legrand Lighting Control ios/android app to allow control and automation of all Legrand RF Lighting devices. By connecting the controller to a home's network (via Ethernet cable), users can manage their lighting system including both manual and automated scenes. In addition the app provides simple lighting device discovery and convenient configuration from a mobile device or tablet. With RF communication, the LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller is ideal for both retrofit and new home construction. The LC7001 Lighting Controller is compatible with the Legrand Whole House RFLC system, including all RF Dimmer and Switch products in both the radiant and adorne collections. Figure Prerequisites 1. In order for the LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller to function, it requires a wired connection to the home network router/switch. 2. The mobile device/tablet (running the Legrand Lighting App) must also be connected wirelessly to the same home network. Page 1
3. It is also required to have all associated Legrand RF Lighting System components installed and house / group bound prior to installation of the LC Best Practices Before operating the LC7001, it is assumed all Legrand RF Lighting System components were properly installed and configured per Legrand instructions. NOTE: For more information on house binding and configuring the RF Lighting System prior to the installation of the LC7001, refer to the installation instructions included with the RF Dimmer/Switch products. Also, the Legrand Lighting Control App should be downloaded and installed on the desired smart phone(s) / tablet(s) / Apple Watch (es) (See Figure 2). NOTE: The app is available on both the ios and Google Play store. NOTE: As of firmware and app version 1.3, the Lighting Controller App is now compatible with the Apple Watch. For additional information on how to pair your Apple to watch to an Apple iphone, please click here. Figure 2 Page 2
2.0 LC7001 Operation 2.1 LC7001 Operation Overview After opening the Legrand Lighting Control app for the first time, a prompt will appear with instructions to tap a light switch in the home to add it to the system (See Figure 3). NOTE: It is assumed that all of the lighting devices in the home have been properly house / group bound prior to the installation of the LC7001. Tap the switch to discover it on the system. A prompt will then appear allowing for that dimmer/switch to be named (See Figure 4). For multi-location/remote devices, select whether it is a dimmer or switch. Figure 3 Figure 4 Page 3
Repeat the steps above to add all of your Legrand dimmers/switches to the LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller. There is another method of adding additional devices after this initial discovery process. See Section in this User Guide for more information. The LC7001 Lighting Controller may be operated from a smart phone or tablet device. The following sections will detail how to control the devices in the system, create lighting scenes and automate those lighting scenes (called Repeat in the app). NOTE: When using a smart phone, the app shows a single pane view (see Figure 5 left), while a tablet shows a double pane view (see Figure 5 right). For this User Guide we ll use the tablet view. Figure 5 Page 4
2.2 Legrand Light Control App Operation When launching the Lighting Control App, the dashboard screen will appear after system discovery has been completed (see Figure 6). In this section we will detail how to use the selections available on the dashboard screen. On the dashboard screen, the following functions can be performed: Turn On or Off All Lights View Scenes that were recently run View Scenes that are upcoming Go to the Lights Page Go to the Scenes Page Go to the Settings Page Figure 6 Page 5
2.2.1 Lights Page Operation Begin by selecting Lights at the bottom of the dashboard screen. The Light s page will appear showing all controllable lights within the system (See Figure 7). This screen will display the On/Off status of each switch (blue indicates the light is ON) along with the current light level. Figure 7 (Edit): Tap Edit at the top left to display the edit page (see Figure 8) and these options: Change the name of a light Remove a light from the system entirely Figure 8 Page 6
(+): Tap the + symbol at the top right to: Add a new light Adding additional dimmers/switches functions very similarly to the initial discovery process detailed in Section 2.1 of this User Guide. Simply tap the + icon and a prompt will appear to tap the newly added dimmer/switch to the system. Tap the dimmer/switch and an additional prompt will appear for naming the device. (Lights): Tap an individual light to display its light page (see Figure 9). Figure 9 From the individual light page, the following options are available: Turn the light On/Off via toggle switch at the top right Turn the light On/Off via double tapping the large light bulb icon Adjust its light level with the slider at the bottom. Select Edit (to change the light s name, or remove the light from the system) NOTE: If it is a switch, rather than a dimmer, there is no slider present. NOTE: If a dimmer is being used, the slider level can still be adjusted, even if the light is Off in the app. Making changes to the slider level will not change the state of the light (i.e. it will not turn it On/Off). However, it will change the light level for the next time the light is turned on. Make sure the light is turned On using the top right toggle before making slider adjustments if immediate changes are needed. Page 7
2.2.2 Settings Page Operation Tap on Settings at the bottom of the dashboard screen, to open the Settings Page (see Figure 10). From this screen, the following options are available: Change Home Location Change Time Zone Turn On/Off Daylight Savings Time Add In-Wall Scene Controllers Perform a firmware update (Manually updating firmware is optional as updates should happen automatically) Check the current version of the app Figure 10 Page 8
(Location): By tapping Location, the app will display a map screen (see Figure 11). If this is the first time this screen has been accessed, a prompt will appear asking for permission to use the location services of the phone/tablet. This will allow the app to automatically determine the proper sunrise and sunset times, based on your location, for automating any light scenes. Alternately, by manually entering the address/zip code it allow the controller to determine sunrise and sunset times. (This function requires an Internet Connection) Figure 11 Page 9
(Time Zone): Tap Time Zone to select the desired time zone (see Figure 12). Figure 12 (In Wall Scene Controllers): Adding an In Wall Scene Controller (see Figure 13) is for the addition of Scene Controllers designed to work solely with the LC7001. Please see Section Scene Controller Operation for more information. Figure 13 NOTE: The Legrand RFLC DRD5, DRD6, MRH5, MRH6 and adorne ADMHRM4 are not compatible with the LC7001. These products can still be used to control the RF Lights in the home, but they will be independent of the LC7001 scenes. Page 10
2.2.3 Scenes Operation To add a Scene to the system, tap on Scenes at the bottom of the dashboard page. From the scenes page (see Figure 14) the following options are available: (+): Tap the + symbol to create a Scene. The first step is to name the scene (See Figure 15). Figure 14 Figure 15 Next, select how often the scene will run by tapping on Repeat (See Figure 16). Figure 16 Page 11
(Repeat): On the Repeat pop-up page (see Figure 17 and Figure 18) the options include: Never repeat Repeat once Repeat weekly Figure 17 Figure 18 If the scene will only be triggered once (Figure 17 above), the following options will be available: (Date): Tapping Date will provide an interface which will allow for the ability to select the date when the scene will trigger (See Figure 19). Figure 19 Page 12
(Time): Tapping Time will determine what time to run the scene. Notice that both Specific Time shown below left or a Relative Time shown below right (See Figure 20 and 21) can be selected. Figure 20 Figure 21 If the scene will be triggered weekly (Figure 18 above), the following options will be available: (Days): Tap Days to select which days the scene will run (Figure 22). For example, you can select every day of the week to trigger the scene only on Weekdays. Returning to the Repeat screen, notice that Weekdays is displayed under Days (Figure 23). Figure 22 Figure 23 Page 13
(Time): Tapping Time will determine what time to run the scene. Notice that both Specific Time shown below left or a Relative Time shown below right (See Figure 24 and 25) can be selected. Figure 24 Figure 25 Return to the Repeat screen by tapping the < icon, the Days and Time selections have been updated with the choices that were made. (Lights): Return to the Scene creation screen by tapping the < icon. Here, you can select the lights that will participate in this scene. This can be done by placing a checkmark next to the lights name. By tapping on each light it s possible to adjust the state (whether it s On/Off) and the light level itself. When the desired light selections have been made, tap on Save to save the scene (See Figure 26 below). Page 14
The new scene will now be reflected in the Upcoming Scenes category to the left of the screen of the dashboard page (See Figure 27). Figure 26 NOTE: The scene will only appear in the Upcoming Scenes area if it is scheduled to trigger in the next two days. Anything longer than that will not appear in the list. Figure 27 Page 15
(Fade Rate): At any point during the scene creation, the fade rate for the scene can be adjusted. The fade rate determines how quickly the light levels ramp up or down when a scene is executed. The higher the number selected, the longer the scene will take to achieve the desired light level. NOTE: When using a Legrand Scene Controller with a Toggle Scene On/Off button assigned, the fade rate is only applicable to when the scene is executed On. A second button press will turn the lights On or Off at the system default rate. This is currently not adjustable. See Section for more information. (Edit a Scene): To edit a scene, go to the Dashboard page and select the Scenes icon at the bottom of the screen. Next click Edit at the top left of the Scenes page (Figure 28). Tap the red minus circle icon next to scene name (See Figure 29), the following options will appear: Delete the scene Duplicate the scene (allowing faster setup of similar scenes) By tapping the scene name itself, the following options will appear (See Figure 30): Change Light Settings Change the Name of the scene Change the Repeat settings for the scene Change the Fade Rate for the scene Figure 28 Figure 29 Figure 30 Page 16
2.3 Add/Remove Scene Controllers The LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller is now compatible with the adorne Scene Controller (part numbers ADTPRIWHCW1, ADTPRIWHCM1, ADTHRIWHCW1, ADTHRIWHCM1) and the radiant Scene Controllers (part numbers LC2303-WH, LC2103-NI and LC2013-LA). radiant Style adorne SoftTap NOTE: Prior to adding the Scene Controller to the Lighting Control App, it should be bound to the House ID of the home. This can be performed upon the initial installation of the system or the unit can be added to an existing system. Please refer to the installation instructions included with the Scene Controller for more information. The addition of a new Scene Controller can be accomplished in much the same way that adding a new light switch is performed. Tap on Settings at the bottom of the Dashboard screen to open the Settings page. From here, tap on the In-Wall Scene Controllers option (Figure 31) Figure 31 Page 17
To add the Scene Controller, tap the + symbol at the top right hand corner of the screen (Figure 32) and then push any button on the face of the Scene Controller as per the instructions on the screen (Figure 33). Figure 32 Figure 33 A new pop-up menu will appear that will allow for the naming of the new Scene Controller. Enter a new name for the unit and tap the Save button (Figure 34). Figure 34 Page 18
The Scene Controller will now appear in the list under the In-Wall Scene Controllers menu with the name it was given in the previous step (Figure 35). By tapping the arrow icon to the right of the name, the pop-up menu will reappear allowing for the name of the device to be edited as well as the selection of scenes to be associated to each button. A button is referred to as a Bank in the Lighting Control App interface (Figure 36). Figure 35 Figure 36 To remove the Scene Controller from the system entirely, tap the Edit option at the top right hand corner of the screen (Figure 37). Figure 37 Figure 38 Figure 39 Page 19
2.3.1 Scene Controller Operation The primary function of a Legrand Scene Controller is to provide the ability to manually trigger scenes that have been created in the LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller. These scenes must first be created (see Section 2.2.3) and assigned to each button (Bank) on the face of the Scene Controller. To do this, tap on Settings at the bottom of the Dashboard screen to open the Settings page. From here, tap on the In-Wall Scene Controllers option (Figure 40). Figure 40 By tapping the arrow icon to the right of the name, a pop-up menu will appear allowing for the selection of scenes to be associated to each button (Bank). Tap one of the Bank options on this menu to begin assigning a scene (Figure 41). Figure 40 Page 20
New menu options will appear on the screen showing a list of all available scenes that can be assigned to a Bank (Figure 41). To assign a scene to the Bank, tap the scene name to select it. The checkmark will move next to the selected scene (Figure 42). Tap the back arrow icon to return to the previous screen. Figure 41 Figure 42 To change the behavior of the button, tap Execute Scene which is the default behavior for a scene. A new menu will appear which provides options to change the scene behavior (Figure 43). Figure 43 (Execute Scene): When the button is pressed, the scene will be executed. Light levels will be determined by the levels set during creation of the scene. Page 21
NOTE: When an assigned Execute Scene button is pressed on the Scene Controller, the LED indicator for the button will slowly flash for a few seconds indicating the scene has been activated. Once the scene is activated, the LED will go out and remain off. (Toggle Scene On/Off): When the button is pressed, the scene will be triggered On. Light levels will be determined by the levels set during creation of the scene. Pressing the button a second time will command the scene to trigger Off. NOTE: When an assigned Toggle Scene On/Off button is pressed on the Scene Controller, the LED indicator for the button will slowly flash for a few seconds indicating the scene has been activated. Once the scene is activated, the LED will be On and brightly lit. Pressing the button again will cause the LED to slowly flash until the scene has been turned off. The LED will turn off. If the Scene Controller has multiple assigned Toggle Scene On/Off buttons, the LED behavior will vary depending on which scene is active. When the Toggle Scene On/Off button is pressed and the scene has been completely executed, the LED indicator will appear brightly lit. This is now the active scene. Other assigned Toggle Scene On/Off buttons that are still On but not active will show an LED indicator light that is dim. When pressed, the LED indicator will become bright making it the active scene. NOTE: The active scene can then be adjusted by pressing the + and - buttons on the Scene Controller. The + and - buttons must be tapped to make adjustments. Press and hold will not function. Tap the desired button behavior to select it. The checkmark will move next to the selected button behavior. Tap the back arrow icon to return to the main Scene Controller menu. Press the Save button to save the changes made to that Bank (Figure 44). Repeat this process for the remaining buttons (Banks) on the Scene Controller. Figure 44 Page 22
2.4 Apple Watch Operation The Legrand Lighting Control App is now compatible with the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch must be paired with an iphone that has the Legrand Lighting Control App already installed. Once the pairing process is complete, the Legrand Lighting Control App will automatically appear on the Apple Watch home screen. For additional information on how to pair the Apple Watch to an Apple iphone, please click here. NOTE: Lighting Control app and Legrand Whole House Lighting Controller Firmware Version 1.3 or later is required for Apple Watch compatibility. Before using the Legrand Lighting Control App on the Apple Watch, make sure that the paired iphone is connected to the wireless network being broadcast from the same router that the LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller is connected to. Currently, only local connectivity is supported. Tap on the Legrand Lighting Control App icon on the Apple Watch home screen (Figure 45). The App will open to the Lights list (Figure 46). The App can also open to the Scenes list (Figure 47) as well depending upon which is used more often. Figure 45 Figure 46 Figure 47 (Lights): The Lights page displays each light that has been added to the Legrand Whole House Lighting Controller. There is also a toggle icon available which indicates whether the light is On or Off (Figure 46). (Scenes): The Scenes page displays any available scenes that have been configured on the Legrand Whole House Lighting Controller. Simply tap the scene name to execute the desired scene (Figure 47). From the Lights list, the toggle icon can be tapped to change the state of the light (Figure 46). The light will respond by either turning On or Off depending on its original state. Page 23
A more detailed view of the light switch can be accessed by tapping the name of the light itself. The detailed view screen will appear (Figure 48). From this screen, tap the light icon to toggle the state of the light On/Off. If the light is a dimmer, a brightness slider will appear with + and - symbols that will adjust the level of the dimmer (Figure 48). NOTE: The light level will increase or decrease by 5% per button press. Figure 48 By pressing and holding firmly anywhere on the detailed view screen (Apple refers to this as a force press ), a preset brightness level menu will appear (Figure 50). This menu provides access to 4 preset brightness levels. Simply tap the desired brightness level to execute the command to the light switch. This will also turn on the light switch to the preset level if the light switch is currently off. Use the back arrow icon on the detailed view screen (Figure 48) to return to the Lights list. NOTE: The App will reorder your lights and scenes based upon how often you use them. The most used lights and scenes will always appear near the top of the list. By performing a force press on the Lights or the Scenes screen, a menu screen will appear. This menu screen contains an All On/All Off toggle icon. As well as an icon which can be tapped to switch between the Lights and the Scenes lists (Figure 50). Figure 49 Figure 50 Page 24
