It s not just a printer it s a revolution Imagine it 3D print it

3D print Welcome to the new 3D print collection, designed to offer you exceptional opportunities within the growing 3D print market. 3D print technology now offers a revolutionary new approach to teaching, healthcare and workplace business solutions, with leading technology commentators heralding 3D print as a new technology that will change the world, impacting on all areas of education, work and leisure. Students and teachers from across the educational spectrum now have the opportunity to see their ideas and creations literally form in front of their eyes. Potential 3D print costs now mean that it is possible for every school in the country to have some form of 3D print equipment, fully reinforced by the government s recommendations in the National Curriculum for technology in schools. Professionals in healthcare are also amongst the early adopters for this technology, embracing 3D print within dental and anatomical models, surgical guides to implantable devices, improved appliances for medicine delivery, and custom hearing aids and prosthetics. Within the business community, 3D print has been a revelation in helping develop more cost effective prototypes, driving down expense and lost productivity. Midwich can offer you committed sales support, 24/7 online ordering, order tracking, next day delivery, a large stock holding and comprehensive credit facilities. Whether its price-support, more information on the products or demonstration opportunities, we are here to help you take your business into the world of 3D print. Call 01379 649200 to organise a demonstration today.

3D facts As 3D printers have become more affordable and versatile, they are destined to disrupt multiple industries. Here s what you need to know about this quickly accelerating technology. 3D printing is a technique to create 3D objects by placing layer over layer with the help of an additive material and a digital file (CAD). Initially, these models were limited to prototyping purposes but recently 3D printing has made a radical shift towards mainstream product manufacturing in industries ranging from aerospace to consumer products. 3D printing has huge growth potential, especially in markets like education, healthcare and leisure. The UK Government has embraced the concept of 3D printing, incorporating the technology within the National Curriculum and funding pilot projects with schools to develop cross curricular 3D print classes. Health providers see the potential in driving efficiencies and improving patient care in key areas of delivery, for example in dentistry and hearing aid applications. The leisure market is constantly expanding and is only limited by the users imagination. If you can think it, you can print it. The main driving factors responsible for this explosive growth of the 3D printing market include new and improved technologies, hardwearing and cost effective 3D print materials, supportive regulations, government funding, and huge untapped market. To find out more about 3D print opportunities visit www.midwich.com/shop/3d-print or contact your account manager today. 3D printing is a key industry to watch in 2014 According to Gartner research, printers under $100,000 were expected to increase in sales 75 percent in 2014. Customisation is the next step in 3D printing technology Customisation is the next buzzword in the industry, according to Peter Basiliere, lead Gartner analyst for 3D printing. Replacement parts, toys, and random designs and schematics found on the internet can all be customised to fit consumer needs. Lower prices will drive consumer adoption As smaller companies make their own 3D printers or crowdfund them, the prices are going to continue to drop. The prices for larger machines used in manufacturing enterprises are not lowering as quickly, but they will improve in performance and enhancements to more rapidly and efficiently produce parts. 3D printing is going to completely revolutionise manufacturing as we know it According to Peter Basiliere, lead Gartner analyst for 3D printing, the key to long-term growth in the manufacturing industry is the number of materials 3D printers can use, which is small but growing quickly as well. Eventually companies won t need to design every piece in-house and they won t need to ship every part because local or regional makers can design and/or print the parts themselves. 3D printing is going to cause disruption in many industries What else will the technology affect? Well, just about everything. Educators can print tools or designs in schools. Artists will have a new medium to work with. Healthcare providers can quickly create what they need in-house. Parents will be able to replace toys or broken household items in a matter of hours. Capture the world of 3D with Sense 3D Scanner Fully integrated with the Cube 3D printer, Sense 3D scanner scans small and large objects, people and scenes. The Sense 3D scanner has the most diverse scan range in its class with auto-optimised settings for small and large objects like a book or a motorcycle, heads to full bodies and scenes as large as 10 feet tall and wide, Sense 3D scanner software is intuitive, fast, accurate and easy to use.

The Cube The Cube is a 3D printer for everyone it s easy to use, and helps your customers turn their ideas into real items which they can hold, use or even wear. How does it do that? The Cube prints in 3D... which means that instead of putting ink onto a flat surface like regular printing, it builds up material in three dimensions to create a real object. It melts plastic filament, then draws with it in a very fine layer. It then builds another fine layer of plastic on top of this one, and then another, and another, building your idea in slices from the bottom up until you have a plastic object ready to hold. What can your customers make? The cartridges that work with the Cube come in 16 different colours including white, magenta, red, orange, tan, yellow, green, neon green, blue, and black. Customers can use one colour at a time while printing on a Cube. If you want your creation to be multi-coloured, you can print it in separate pieces and attach them together later. You cannot swap the cartridge in the middle of a print. What material does the Cube use? The Cube prints two types of materials. A special type of ABS plastic and eco-friendly PLA plastic. It s safe and can be recycled, and if your piece is thick enough, it s also dishwasher-ready! What is the difference between ABS and PLA Plastic? ABS and PLA are both plastic materials. Our PLA plastic is specially formulated to be compostable or biodegradable while our ABS is recyclable. Customers may use either one on the new Cube. How long do the cartridges last for? 3D cartridges are filled with our custom ABS plastic or PLA Plastic, with 16 colour options, and are designed to work with the Cube, each one containing enough material to make about 35 models per cartridge. Switching them out is easy, they just snap right in. The Cube can also tell you how much material you have left, and won t let you start to print a creation if you don t have enough material to finish it, to avoid waste. How long does it take to print a creation? The print time is proportional to the size and complexity of the creation. An average smartphone case will take about 2 hours to print, whilst a chess piece will take around 40 minutes. What s the UK warranty? We now offer a 1-3 year extended warranty, so if you do have any concerns this warranty will help ease them. Not only is it very competitive in price, but it is a DE install/re install warranty. What is the return policy? We don t provide refunds on Cube printers once they are shipped. If you encounter any issues with your printer, 3D print systems are happy to repair it for free during the warranty period. What are the different Print Modes? The print modes determine how much plastic is used to make the part. This also will dictate how long the part will take to build. For appearance models use the hollow mode. In general, this will build the part most quickly and use the least material. For more structural parts, use the solid mode. Strong parts are the best combination between part strength, build time, and the amount of material used. How big a piece can you make? If it can fit within a 5.5 x 5.5 x 5.5 space (140mm x 140mm x 140mm), the Cube can print it. How do I get started making stuff? The Cube comes with 25 free 3D models for you to print. You can also use other 3D modelling software tools to create your own models for printing. Once you have a model, the Cubify software will turn it into a file that the Cube can read. How do I get a file to my Cube for printing? You can send a file to your Cube via Wi-Fi or by transferring it using a USB stick.

The CubeX The CubeX 3D printer is designed to bring creations to life with professional grade printability for the office, school or home. How does 3D printing work? Unlike regular printing where the printer puts ink onto a flat surface, 3D printing builds up material in three dimensions to create a real object. The printer draws with a heated filament print solution, depositing a very fine 3D layer. The printer then builds another fine layer of plastic on top of the previous one, and then another, and another, until the layers have turned into a 3D object. What can be made using the CubeX 3D printer? As long as the piece fits into the CubeX print area, you re limited only by your imagination. The CubeX has a print space of 10.8 X 10.45 X 9.5 (275 mm x 265 mm x 240 mm). There are more 3D print plans available to download for free online through 3D print websites and print forums. What colours can be used? 3D filament print cartridges come in over 30 different colours. You can choose to build your creations in multi-colours and materials by using the CubeX Colour software. How is the CubeX different from the Cube? The CubeX can use two materials and two colours at once. This gives greater scope for creativity and design. Although the Cube can use both of the available materials, it can only use them one at a time when printing. How do I get a file to my CubeX for printing? Files can be sent to a CubeX printer by transferring via a USB stick. How long does it take to print a creation? The print time is proportional to the size and complexity of the creation. A chess piece will on average 40 minutes, while a complex smartphone case will take about 2-3 hours to print. How easy is it to change print cartridges? CubeX cartridges are filled with ABS plastic or PLA plastic filament and are designed to work with the CubeX. Switching them out is easy, they simply snap in. No mess. No hassle. The CubeX printer tells you how much filament you have left, and won t let the printing of a creation start if there isn t enough filaments to finish it, avoiding waste and saving your customers money. What s the UK warranty? We now offer a 1-3 year extended warranty, so if you do have any concerns this warranty will help ease them. Not only is it very competitive in price, but it is a DE install/re install warranty. What s the return policy? We don t provide refunds on CubeX printers once they re shipped. If you encounter any issues with your printer 3D systems are happy to repair it for free during the warranty period. What material does the CubeX use? The CubeX prints in ABS plastic and PLA plastic. What is the difference between ABS and PLA Plastic? ABS and PLA are both plastic materials: PLA plastic is specially formulated to be compostable or biodegradable (great for Educational customers) ABS is recyclable Customers may use either one on the new CubeX or both together. How easy is it to set up? Customers needn t be worried about set up problems, as its pretty much plug in and print. They simply need to ensure the printer base is level on the surface it s standing on, feed in the plastic media into the print head and plug it in. How do customers start printing? The CubeX comes with 10 free Professional Grade 3D Models for customers to print. There are more 3D plans to print in the Cubify Store, www.cubify.com or users can design their own 3D models using their free license of Cubify Invent. Once customers have a model, the CubeX software will turn it into a.cubex print document that the CubeX printer can read.
