GENERAL CHARACTERISTICs Kalheta 440 The asbestos-free CRFS (Cement Reinforced with Synthetic Fiber) sheet, Kalheta is indicated specially for residential roofing allowing an attractive combination of forms that results in an aesthetically pleasing ensemble. Due to the long eave and large spans, it is also suited for clubs, schools, commercial buildings etc. 180 8 132 153 Specific weight: 1600 kg/m 3 Water absorption: 25% to 30% Kalheta s very weight: for calculation of structures, a weight of 24 kg/m² should be considered, including water absorption, covering and fastenings. Expansion due to water absorption (dry saturated/kiln): approximately 3 mm/m Modulus of elasticity: 15 GPa Bending strength: 200 kg centered in the middle of the free span. Thermal conductivity: 0.35 W/mK (average between 20ºC and 70ºC). Thermal expansion: 0,01 mm/m C Heat strength: alternating cycles of heating up to 100ºC and cooling at ambient temperature do not damage the material. Incombustibility: the sheet is incombustible. Biological resistance: prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi due to its alkaline matrix. Resistance to chemicals: high resistance to neutral or alkaline chemicals. ASSEMBLY PROJECT Maximum free span The maximum free span between the supports is 5.0 m. Maximum swing The maximum swing is 1.50 m, from the point of fastening. Minimum slant A minimum slant of 5º (9%) is mandatory to allow water to flow off. Accidental load The accidental load in the center of the maximum free span is 150 kg. Assembly The sheets should be installed in the opposite direction of prevailing winds in the region to increasing the covering tightness. The assembly starts from the eave to the upper roof. The opposite pitches should be assembled simultaneously, using the ridge as an assembly mould. Do not leave loose sheets on the support structure until fastening is complete. Supports The supports of Kalhetas on the purlins should be of, at least, 50 mm at its length. The support should follow the slant of Kalheta. Drilling Run the drill at least 0.10 m from the edge of Kalheta. The fastening should go through the crest of the central wave in a hole made with a 1/2 diameter drill. The hole of the wood purlin should be done with a 19/64 drill. Method of the cut corners To prevent the reassembly of four thicknesses, the corners of intermediate sheets should be cut diagonally at overlays. The corner cutting is mandatory because it avoids flaws that allow the entry of light and water, besides deformation of sheets. The cut is usually done with a saw or portable electric cutting tools equipped with disks for ceramics, concrete or marble. Burrs should be smoothed out with rasp or sandpaper. The use of a mould makes it easier to mark the cutting line. FASTENING Fastening material Ask your supplier to provide accessories complying with ABNT NBR 8055. Screws Used in the fastening of Kalhetas to wood structures. The screw used is fire galvanized steel, Ø 8 mm diameter, wood thread and special head. Use in each screw the elastic sealing set. Wooden structure Use a Ø 8 mm x 65 mm diameter galvanized screw in each piece at the crest of the central wave. In case of longitudinal overlapping, use a Ø 8 mm x 85 mm diameter screw. The 8 mm diameter, fire galvanized steel eyebolt is used with an elastic sealing set. The flat pin can be used also and should be bent according to the structure. Ventilation plate* Plastic piece with louver, placed in the space between the purlin and the rim of Kalhetas to provide permanent ventilation under the roof and prevent the entry of small animals. Sealing plate* Part used to seal the space under the rims of Kalheta, fastened to the external side of the supports. * Part on demand. Fastening Fastening is done with two nº 12 x 25 mm self-locking screws, directly on the supporting purlins. Drill the sealing plate with a 3/16 diameter drill to insert the screws. The sealing between the sealing plate and the sheet can be done with Selamax PU (Polyurethane) Adhesive. * Product not supplied by Brasilit. TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND HANDLING Discharge The discharge must be done by two men on top of the truck and two on the floor. Discharge parts from the side of the truck, one at a time, so that their base is supported by one hand and the lateral rim by the other, taking care not to twist or bend. Never lift the sheets holding the rims, always the bottom. Storage area Choose a flat firm area free of debris and accessible to trucks and semi-trailers. The storage area should be provided for according to the quantity of parts ordered. The length of the storage area should be equal to or greater than the length of the bigger sheet to be stored, plus 1 m at each end, allowing easy circulation. The width of the area depends on the number of piles of sheets to be stored, plus 0.50 m on each side for movement. Kalheta is approximately 0.55 m wide. We recommend piles with up to 25 sheets for Kalheta. Never pile up pieces of different lengths. Stacking Place on the properly level floor planks to receive the wood supports following the spacing as indicated on the table below. The wooden supports are provided by Brasilit at a rate of a pair of supports for each pile of 25 Kalhetas or pile of fewer pieces. Transport at the work Hold and lift Kalheta the same way as recommended in discharge. * Parts of up to 5.00 m in length can be carried by two men. The longer lengths, should be carried by four men with the aid of roof timbers. Tools Use adequate tools. Wear a mask when cutting or drilling products with electric tools that produce fine powder. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE Hoisting We recommend hoisting Kalhetas by means of winches, pulleys or blocks. In this case, it is necessary to place wood spacers as shown in the drawing, to avoid straining the ropes on the rims. The distance of the span and the swing to be kept is the same as stacking..
