Course Information: Description: Instruction Level: 5 Course Art 5 th grade Students will explore the elements and principles of art using a variety of art techniques and methods. We will be learning about past and present trends in art history, as well as art criticism and aesthetics. Each student will learn how to work independently and together as a group. They will be introduced to various properties of art mediums with an emphasis on art production. Content Standard A - Art Production is the creation of art, communicating in a visual language. This process involves making decisions about selecting subject matter, tools, media and techniques to solve problems, apply design concepts, interpret what you see and express what you feel. Explore the elements and principles of design. Learn about concepts in art. Develop skills and techniques to produce quality art. Work independently and collaboratively to produce works of art. Looking at what you are drawing can train your eye to see what you are drawing. Using the rules of composition will help create better drawings. Think about the composition when planning a drawing. People have been making pottery for a long time. There are many different ways to use clay to make pottery. There is a process to follow when creating something out of clay. 4. There are many different ways to weave. Weaving can be used to make functional pieces. Weaving can be used to make decorative pieces. 5. Sculpture Proper use of the materials Understanding of what the materials can do What is a sculpture? What is sculpture made of? Where can you find sculpture? Sculptures are three-dimensional.
