And the presentation by Joallyn of Martelli's interesting. I confess - I bought a table. And it has really helped with my cutting. If I bring it up to a level with my elbow, the cutting is easier and I don't get as tired. Does anyone know if that is the ideal height? This meeting is a big one - we will vote on our slate of officers for next year. Please review the list in this newsletter. Also, I'd like to hear from you what you want the guild to schedule for next year: Continue tradition with the mini quilt auction? Ideas about raffle quilts? What programs would you like? What skills or techniques do you want presented? Remember this meeting is community service - so bring your sewing stuff! Maridale 1

AN INVITATION Hi, I wanted to share the upcoming Programs and workshops with you and your members. We invite all to participate if they want. Below is the Programs and workshops we have coming up in November and January. Nov. 9 - Allison Bayer - presenting My Scrappy World Nov. 11 - workshop - Scrap User's System - Take it because you finally want to use the scraps you have on hand. Learning how to clean up after a project is finished is something I wish I had known when I was a new quilter!! We'll be making a notebook of the samples we sew after lunch. The morning will be spent processing scraps for your very own "Scrap User's System." Jan. 11 - Charlotte Angotti - presenting Why Aren't You Making More Quilts? I Know You Have the Fabric Jan. 12 - workshop - Surprise Yourself! - Learn Charlotte's methods for designing and cutting her kits, based on her book. This workshop will use the techniques for simple design, cutting and sewing techniques from the book. Using easy units and an artistic eye you will be creating your own designs as well as not needing the crazy directions often found in patterns and books. With this freedom you can easily see how many quilts are broken down and put back together again! Jan. 13 - Workshop - Let me surprise you!- In this fun-filled class, a kit of CUT fabrics is furnished. This is a wonderful group workshop for those that just want to sew and not have any cutting or thinking to do. Kit fee is $100. This class is the most popular class Charlotte offers. It fills quickly and is a SURPRISE in more ways than one. It is a mystery type class. No one gets any hints and yet those who take the class will want to take another. Each class is a different quilt. Rarely are the kits repeated. Guests are welcome to sign up online or at a guild meeting. For more information, please see our website, http://qgplano.org/cgi-bin/membership.cgi?page=programs. Angel Hawks VP Programs Quilters Guild of Plano 5

Hello all you wonderful quilters of Allen Quilters Guild. This month is our Community Service month and as such, we will be holding a workshop at our regular meeting. I have cut out lots of pillowcase kits and catheter kits. I also have several kids quilts already made and are ready to tie to finish them. So bring your machines and join in the fun of sewing for others. Also this month, please bring bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner, washcloths or feminine hygiene products. Thanks, Betty Matthews, Community Service Chair.
