Page 3 Thank You Card Thank You Card was a have to do project. Seeing the ladybug, bee, and flower paper reminded me of my Sizzix bug dies and flower punches that would be a great match to the printed paper. Layer, layer, and layer; then add a few bugs, some die cuts, a few punched flowers highlighted with Copics, the Thank You stamp, a bit of tulle to finish up the design now all you need is someone to send it to!
con t from pg3 Page 4 Necklace Flower Necklace was inspired by a pumpkin I saw at Carol Hurlock s blog Chocolate, Crafts, and Bears, Oh My! Check out her blog.really cool stuff there! She took 9 ovals, folded them in half then glued them together. She then added a stem and some leaves for the cutest little paper pumpkin! Well..I thought of my flower punch while I was making my pumpkin last fall. Seeing the pastel papers in the kit this month and having flowers on the brain, it was time to try my idea. The graduated strips made great beads to accentuate the flowers. I took a sparkle gel pen to add glitter on the edges and some little dots too. Garden Hat: With all of my flowers come ALL of my weeds! I was thinking that I needed a hat to keep the sun off while I was out there plucking those pesky things! But who wants a plain hat? So I dragged out more of my punches, my Copics, Prisma colored pencils, chalks. and watercolor pencils no more plain hat! I must confess though, I am better at paper flowers than real gardening, but I can grow weeds like nobody s business!
Page 5 Tole Quilling When I saw that there were graduated color quilling strips in the kit, I knew that they would be perfect for recreating a tole painting design in quilling. I used the black cardstock for a traditional tole background. The quilled designs mimic tole painted flowers with roses, tulips, a large center flower, and flourishes. The graduated strips used with the light at the center and also on the outside of the coils, give the shapes the shaded and highlighted look that tole painting has. It will be matted and put in a gold frame.
con t from pg5 Page 6 June Calendar Page: I used the pink card stock in this month s kit for my inspiration for the June calendar page and choose to do pink cherry blossoms. The blossoms are punched from coffee filter paper and then watercolored, shaped, and layered. The branch is a brown wire floral stem that is wrapped in a bit of brown paper twist and floral tape. I added several smaller branches and accented the blossoms and buds with a little glitter in the centers for some shine. Easy and very pretty in pink! Daisy Card: The daisy designer paper in the kit was the inspiration for this card. I used the yellow graduated strips for the centers of the quilled daisies and the green for the stems and looped leaves. The black netting was threaded though the holes and looks great against the black, yellow, and designer paper layers. I added a little glitter to some of the daisies on the background paper, as well as some white doodles and pricking on the yellow matt. It is finished off with the ladybug button perched upon the bouquet. A cute and quick card that can be used for many occasions.
Sue Page 7 Reviews April showers have brought May flowers and a few bugs. With the pastel papers in the kit, flowers were on my mind for this month s projects. Seeing the forsythias, dianthus, iris, phlox, clematis, dandelions, and violets all blooming in my yard, I could not help myself. Of course bees and lady bugs are a flower s best friend and they are included, along with some tulle and pastel graduated quilling strips. All of this just in time to make something special for Mom! Sonya This month s kit is full of fun supplies and I know you will love the graduated quilling strips that will get your creativity going with many possibilities. There is a great selection of cardstock for many projects and cute embellishments to go on them. I had a lot of fun working with this month s kit! Original Patterns at Custom Quilling http://www.customquillingbydenise.com/shop/index.php?cpath=161_107 When using quilling strips from a bag, make sure the cut ends are facing the opening of the bag. To remove strips without tangling, take the required strips from the inside loop. This will leave the remaining strips intact.
