Christmas In July Hi Everyone, Keith and I just came back from International Quilt Market. Market was in Portland, Oregon. We had a wonderful time. It is always good to go to market; it revitalizes, motivates and excites you. We always come back with great ideas for the shop. We purchased new fabrics, books and patterns. We were impressed with Moda s new lines, Dear Stella, and Timeless Treasures new batiks. We are looking forward to the arrival of the fabrics this fall. We will let you know when the fabrics come in. We are looking forward to showing you our Christmas in July program. If you have been before you know you will leave with great ideas for the Holidays. If you have not been, do not miss it. It s an hour of show and tell with all of the wonderful quilts, stocking, pillows, wall-hangings, bags, etc. we have made with our new Christmas and Fall fabrics. We can t wait to show you. The event has been so popular that we have decided to do two showings of our program. Please choose one of the listed times and let us know when you will be attending. We will put you on the appropriate list. If you want a calm quiet time come in the afternoon. New Saturday Sampler The Nifty Nine Patch is ending in July. Joanne has the Summer Breeze quilt completed and it is beautiful. We are starting a new
Saturday Sampler program in July. We are doing a house block with a six inch quilt block built into the house. We have two options for you to choose from. The first option is a batik color way and the second is a traditional color way. The cost is $10.00 to start the Saturday Sampler and the other eleven will be free if you come on the second Saturday of the month at 10:00 am. We will be offering two Log Cabin Bonus blocks each month, the cost of the two blocks is $10.00. Both color ways are just gorgeous, can t wait for you to see them. Clubs Moda Bake Shop Teacher: Cindy Adams Thursday, June 13 th, 10:30 1:30 $5.00 Cindy and her lady friends will be having Moda Bake Shop every other month on the second Thursday. Come join the fun. Cindy always has special treats for everyone and occasionally they go to lunch after the program. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you in the Club. Classes Totes Pocket Perfect July 16 th The Pocket Perfect bucket bag is great for carrying the essentials. The front pocket is a good place to keep your keys and your cell phone. Kathy made the bucket styled bag out of Lakehouse fabrics. The piping trim on the bag adds a touch of class. Technique Classes Beginning Paper Piecing June 28 th August 15 th If you want to make perfect points and sew complicated quilts learn the technique of paper piecing. Once you accomplish this technique, it will open doors for piecing modern quilts to traditional quilts. Nancy will have a cute little project for you to sew. You will learn the basic techniques
used in paper piecing. You will love it and find out how easy it is to do. Beginning Machine Piecing Teacher: Karen Williams June 19 th, 26 th, July 3 rd, 10 th, 17 th, and 24 th, 10:00 12:30 or 6:00 8:30 $90.00 In this class you will learn the basics of machine piecing from cutting your quilt out to quilting your quilt. Karen is very passionate about teaching beginners and been so for 16 years. Come into the shop and talk to Karen and she will show you the sample that you will make in class. When you complete the class you will be as passionate about quilting as Karen. Beginning Machine Applique June 6 th 10:30-1:30 August 9 th Nancy is excited about teaching you the basics of machine applique. In this class she will discuss the tools needed for machine applique, thread, needles, and stabilizers Have you used fusible web and can t quite figure how or why to finish the edges of your fabric? Nancy will show you how to use raw edge, blanket stitch, satin stitch or just a loose zigzag stitch to finish the edges of your applique pieces. It is fun to sit with an experienced person and get their tips on how to finish your project. Project Classes It s A Wrap June 20 th Have you seen Nancy s baskets? They are beautiful. She has had fun dyeing one of the baskets that is in the shop. This is an easy technique, but Nancy will show you all the special tips she has for making the wrap baskets and the tips on dyeing one yourself. Customers look at Nancy s baskets and say it looks easy but it is not. Nancy has made the baskets and has worked on the quirks and challenges of sewing the clothes line on her machine. Take the class with Nancy and let her eliminate the challenges of making the It s a Wrap basket. T-Shirt Quilt August 22 Nancy will teach you the proper way to prepare your t-shirts for a quilt.
During the class she will share with you ideas to piecing the t-shirt quilt. Come join the fun and create a memory quilt for someone special in your life. College students love this quilt. Kids Camp Teacher: Karen Williams June 10 th, 11 th, 12 th, and 14 th 10:00 12:30 or 1:30 4:00 $90 Kids Camp is teaching a young person the love of quilting. They will make a simple quilt top from the beginning to the end. We will have a sample in the shop and each student will be able to pick out their own fabric and make their own quilt. We have fun in this class. The students make a quilt from start to finish in four days. We do have a few elves, which come in and cut for them, but the students do all the sewing and quilting. The first day the students pick out their own fabric and start sewing the first day. Friday the students will quilt their quilt and have a completed quilt to take with them. Make It, Take It Classes Zippy Strippy Bag Teacher Joanne Patton June 15 th The goal of this class is to finish the small Zippy Strippy bag in class. This bag has a zipper, but with the expert help of Joanne you will find that sewing a zipper is not as hard as you think. With the fee you will receive all the supplies needed for the class, including the pattern. Just bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. Folded Ornament Teacher: Joanne Patton July 20 th You might have seen Joanne s folded ornaments on the tree in the window, they are fantastic. This class will teach you how to make fold, pin and measure the fabric to make this ornament. You will pick out the fabric you will use to make the ornament. Then you will sit with Joanne and she will show you the easy fold technique to make the ornament. Wool Ornament July 23 rd August 20 th Kathy if offering this class to have some fun with wool and to show you
a few hand embroidery stitches. In the class you will embroider the top of the ornament, stitch the front and back together using an embroidery stitch and stuff your ornament. The ornament should be complete when the class is done. All the materials are included in this class; just bring your favorite pair of scissors. Wool Needle Case August 6 th 10:00 1:00 Make a little something just for you. You will make a cute needle case for your special needles using wool and a few embroidery stitches to embellish your case. It is fun and easy. Come join us for this project.
