CUTTING From fabric 1 cut: 12 x 2½" x 2½" (sashing) From fabric 2 cut: 13 x 2½" x 2½" (sashing) From fabric 3 cut: 16 x 5¼" x 5¼" cut in half diagonally twice (for block 1) From fabric 4 cut: 16 x 5¼" x 5¼" cut in half diagonally twice (for block 2) From fabric 5 cut: 8 x 4½" x 4½" (for block 2) From fabric 6 cut: 8 x 4½" x 4½" (for block 1) From fabric 7 cut: From fabric 8 cut: From fabric 9 cut: 16 x 4⅞" x 4⅞" cut in half diagonally once (for block 1) From fabric 10 cut: 16 x 4⅞" x 4⅞" cut in half diagonally once (for block 2) From fabric 11 cut: 40 x 2½" x 12½" MAKING UP THE BLOCKS Lay out the fabric pieces for the block. Sew the two larger triangles together to make a square. Do this to all four, next sew the four small triangles together to make a square. Sew the squares together, three for each row and then the rows together to make the block. Sew 8 blocks in total Make up block 2 the same way as block 1. MAKING UP THE QUILT Lay out the sashing, squares and the blocks as in the main diagram Sew the small square to the sashing and then square, sashing until you have sewn all your pieces together for the row Next row sew sashing, block and sashing until all the blocks and sashing are sewn together. Do this to each row and then sew all the rows together to complete the quilt QUILTING Sandwich quilt top, wadding and backing together Quilt by hand or machine as desired Trim backing and wadding to size BINDING Use your favourite method from fabric 11 to bind the quilt Lewis & Irene 2019
