Line to Circle
Light First Social innovation through lighting Socially engaged iguzzini is an international community at the service of architecture and the development of the culture of lighting, for a better society and life. It is a centre of excellence for the study of lighting in its various forms. It produces lighting systems in collaboration with leading lighting designers, architects, designers, universities and research centres all over the world. Respect for the environment, biological wellbeing, sustainable economies: these are the factors we need to work on, on a global scale, for the positive development of society. Lighting is first and foremost for people, our commitment being to promote responsible use of energy by public organisations, by the leaders in architecture, industry and commerce, supporting town mayors, for a real improvement in wellbeing and quality of life. Lighting innovation Social innovation means responding to emerging needs with new ways of cooperating, in a network, through open networks, producing sustainable ideas and identifying new tools. Lighting changes things. It is at the centre of social changes. It is the expression of new vital energy running through the city, building architecture, creating wellbeing for people. Lighting reveals the nature of man, it shows worlds and relationships, communities and mechanisms. iguzzini works to use lighting to improve the relationship between man and the environment, through research, manufacturing, technology and knowledge. www.iguzzini.com/lightfirst
Line to Circle. An invisible line creates circular luminous magic. revolutionises the concept of the downlight. The product with miniaturised optic, providing high visual comfort, uses the physical principle of pinpoint lamps, generating circular light emission. No more rigid frameworks, but instead ample opportunities for customisation. Innovative in its simplicity, is the result of an integrated process involving various disciplines: the science of lighting, technology, design and culture. The system is a multiple, flexible, universal tool. has received prestigious international awards.

The line forms a segment, leads the eye in a certain direction, focuses your view on some points in the room. 10
Graphic lighting. Fragments and lines: vector space. A classic circular downlight forms a point in space., with its linear geometry, forms a segment, a direction. The luminous effect being equal, introduces a new approach with visual stimulation, graphic lighting of rooms, surfaces, walls and ceilings. The possible configurations affect behaviour and the way people relate to space ( Field theory ). Longitudinal installation, installed parallel with the larger sides, emphasises the length of the room and makes people move faster. In open environments, large spaces, halls, this type of installation visually defines a travel hierarchy through the space. It defines a direction. Transversal installation Installed orthogonally to the long side, reduces the length of the space, cutting the visual distance and the speed at which people cross the area. Mixed installation can be used to create many graphical textures: box profiles, diagonals, lighting effects. Traditional installation A classic circular downlight forms a point in space. It does not create guiding lines which affect our visual perception of the space. 11

CRI97 guarantees colour rendering which is incomparable even in terms of tones that are usually critical, such as red. The R9 value (red colour test) is 92, which can be classed as excellent. 92 14
Lighting quality over time. Colour properties. Lighting design requirements vary based on the possible applications. is available with three different types of LED: in colour temperatures Neutral, Warm and Colour Rendering CRI85 and CRI97. The warm white version CRI97 houses LEDs with unbeatable colour performance. The images show for the CRI97 LED the optimum balance of all colours and attractive colour tones comparable to a halogen lamp. Color consistency. The great care taken by iguzzini in its constant and repetitive selection of LEDs, establishing partnerships with the best suppliers in the world, guarantees colour consistency which is not just constant over time, but also the same for different products in the same project. houses LEDs with a MacAdam Step value of <3. The chromatic difference between two or more colours is imperceptible. 15

Correct passive heat dissipation is the fundamental requirement to guarantee high lifetime performance for LEDs. iguzzini runs thermal simulations, using the best software available, so that it can find optimum design solutions to make heat flow away as efficiently as possible. was designed so that after 50,000 hours of use it will retain 80% of the initial flux (L80). 67,0 66,7 66,4 66,1 65,8 65,5 65,2 64,9 64,6 64,3 64,0 C Thermographic simulation 100% 0 h 10000 h 20000 h 30000 h 40000 h Product present on the market 80% 50000 h 70% L80 L70 17

Visual comfort. The innovative micro-reflector generates lighting which is pleasant for the eye and the space. The optical unit is carefully designed. Laser Blade s high definition micro-reflectors, integrated in the innovative black anti-glare screen (or Raster), generate an emission with controlled luminance of 1000 candela per square metre, viewing angle 65 with UGR<19. The light source allows the lamp to be hidden from view. No ray of light emitted (black) or reflected (yellow) strikes the black cover, meaning that no visible point of the optical array reflects the light. High contrast Passive heat dissipation technology, with cooling fins. The shape, thickness, position and length of the fins are the result of a rigorous design and thermal simulation process, intended to ensure that the LEDs operate below critical temperatures. iguzzini research has led to the design of an efficient undulating dissipation profile, which increases the heat exchange surface area and minimises the overall dimensions +10% dissipation surface area, the overall dimensions being equal 22
