Its purpose is to help deliver project information with a high level of quality. JobTracker maintains a catalogue of projects and their components. Components of a project include clients, drawings, and CAD files. The catalogue is stored in an external relational database. Projects, Clients, and Drawings With JobTracker's dialog interface, an administrator may add projects to the catalogue, and subsequently modify or remove a project. When a project is selected, a user may add and remove clients, drawings, and CAD files. The process of modifying a project is non-destructive: no actual files are created or deleted. A project will typically have several clients, multiple drawings, and possible several CAD files that constitute each drawing. A given client may be a customer of more than one project. Drawings, such as a common floor plan, may be shared between projects. CAD files may be shared between drawings. Information is available about clients and drawings at the click of a button. JobTracker lets you view the catalogue in various ways. It's possible to extend JobTracker to provide an intranet client, using Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and some customised Active Server Page (ASP) scripts. Issue Sheets JobTracker lets you see the state of a project interactively at any time, but one of its tasks is to make a snapshot of a project's state at the time you JobTracker and ProjectBuilder are trademarks of Copyright Ltd 1999 2005 Trademarks may be registered in some jurisdictions Page 1
issue it to your clients. It takes care of the administrative tedium of rolling revision codes, creating date-stamps, and preparing lists of the clients and how many copies are due to each client. It automates the extraction of clients, drawings, revisions and dates, then formats them to your corporate standards. It can also archive the project's files at each issue. ProjectBuilder JobTracker is designed to work with project information files created with ProjectBuilder. The added functions include the ability to create the project directory structure and a MicroStation project configuration file (.pcf) automatically. ProjectBuilder is also used to tag specified folders as candidates for archiving, described below. The client view shows the clients in each project. A list of your company's clients is stored in JobTracker's catalogue. When a project is issued, each client receives the number of copies of the project documentation shown here. Clients are chosen from a list of your customers and other organisations. The client list is maintained in JobTracker's catalogue. You can use the usual database tools to maintain your client list and to include other information, such as contact names and addresses. JobTracker's Client View Project Archive JobTracker lets you create a project archive at any time. The archive contains those files found in a designated set of folders. That is, the archive may contain any type of file: documents, scanned images, spreadsheet, or CAD files. You can create an archive manually at any time, but JobTracker will create automatically an archive when a project is issued, including a copy of the issue sheet. The archive is therefore a complete snapshot of the project at the time of archive. JobTracker's Drawing View Each project has one or more drawings. JobTracker assigns a drawing prefix that indicates the drawing discipline. For example, a drawing prefixed with M is the responsibility of the mechanical engineers; a drawing prefixed with S is the responsibility of the structural engineers. Each drawing has a current revision code and may be revised by the user. A drawing's revision code is rolled automatically when issued to clients. JobTracker's CAD File View JobTracker assumes that you compose drawings from a number of CAD files. In MicroStation V8, the JobTracker plug-in provides another view of drawing information. Drawing Title Block You can create a drawing title block automatically. The JobTracker plug-in connects to the catalogue to extract project and drawing information that is used to annotate the block. This example includes project information in the header, six rews of revisions information, and some drawing information in the footer. A time-stamp may be applied automatically.
