Lady Apple Bug Number spinner Cards How to prepare: Print the cards on pages 5-7. Cut out the apples individually. Laminate for additional durability. You can read about my recommendations for paper and preserving paper materials here. Cut out the apples again. The cards are now ready. How to use (multiple ways): Ask the child to lay out the cards in order from 0-9. Ask the child to place the quantity of manipulatives underneath the cards. For manipulatives, you could use real apple seeds, black pom poms, red pom poms, beads, or other objects that fit this theme. Match the apple cards to Montessori sandpaper numbers.

How to use: Match the apple seed cards to the apple number cards. When you present this work, present the cards on a tray in bowls or on a plate/tray. Each type of card should be in a separate pile. The number cards can go on the left of the tray, and the apple cards on the right. Show the child how to layout the cards from the bowl on the left. Then demonstrate how you take one card from the bowl or the right. Match it to the first card in front of you. Is it the same? No? Place the card in your hand next to the second one in front of you. Do this until all of the cards have been matched.

Apple Halves Matching Cards Lady Bug spinner How to prepare: Print the cards on pages 16-18. Cut out the apples individually. Cut along the dashed line. Laminate for additional durability. You can read about my recommendations for paper and preserving paper materials here. Cut out the apple halves again. The cards are now ready. How to use: Ask the child to match the apple halves with the seeds to the corresponding half with the number on it. Present as a matching work. Place the halves with the seeds in a bowl on the left of a tray. Place the halves with the numbers on the right of a tray. Show the child how to layout the cards from the bowl on the left. Then demonstrate how you take one card from the bowl or the right. Match it to the first card in front of you. Is it the same? No? Place the card in your hand next to the second one in front of you. Do this until all of the cards have been matched.

Lady Apple Lifecycle Bug spinner Spinner How to prepare: Version 1: Print the spinners on pages 4-5. Cut them out. Discard the arrow. Laminate the spinners separately. Poke a small hole using scissors or a knife through the black dots in the center Use a brad to connect the two spinners. Version 2: Use only the spinner and arrow on page 5. Print and cut them out. Laminate the spinner and arrow. Poke a hole through the black dot on the arrow. Use a brad to connect the arrow to the spinner.

3 Part Cards How to prepare: Print the cards on durable paper. Optional: reinforce these cards on card stock, and laminate. How to use: Start out with a 3 period lesson. Afterwards, demonstrate how to use 3 3 part cards: 1. Take the tray and place it on your mat on the ground (or table, or wherever you work). 2. Lay out the image cards in front of you. Leave enough space for control cards to the right of each image card, and labels underneath each image card. 3. Next, match the label cards to the image cards. Place them underneath each image card. 4. Check your work by adding the control cards to the right of each image card. 5. Gather the materials, and put them back on the tray. 6. Bring the tray back to its spot on the shelving unit.

Present with a manipulative that your child can place underneath each card to practice number quantity. You can also use these alongside sandpaper numbers as a matching work.

You can laminate them and use with a dry erase marker for additional durability. Alternatively, use these cards along with a sand tray. Have your child trace the number with his or her finger. Apple Tree Playdough Mat Instructions Print the playdough mat and the numbers on page 15. The apples on page 16 are optional. Laminate them so that the playdough doesn t stick to the paper. How to use I have provided square numbers that you can cut out on page 15. Place a number onto the empty square. Then, instruct your child to make that quantity of playdough apples. If you do not have playdough available, you can use the apples on page 16.

Your child will cut out the apples on the dashed lines. How to use: Ask your child to cut the apples along the dashed lines. Present this as a cutting work with a bowl for the cut out apples, scissors, and a bowl containing the apple cutting strips. Then, present the apple mat. Present this with glue and the cut out apples. Ask your child to glue the apples on the letter.

How to use: Ask your child to sort the capital and lower case letters. Present the work UNfinished. This means the letters should be mixed up and in a bowl. The mat should be empty. When the child is finished, the letters should be removed from the mat and placed back in the bowl. This is a very important step of finishing any work cleaning it up and putting it back on the shelves.

Lady Apple Bug Color spinner Sorting How to prepare: Print. Cut out the apples an baskets individually. For extra reinforcement, print on cardstock and laminate. To make the baskets, take one part with a label and one plain part. Attach them to each other by placing a small bit of glue, tape, stables, etc along the two sides and bottom, but not on the top. This way, kids can place the apples inside of the baskets. Ask your child to place the corresponding colored apples into each basket.

Bonus Apple Number Cards Lady Bug spinner How to prepare: Print pages 34 and 35. Optional: reinforce these cards on card stock, and laminate for additional durability. You can read about my recommendations for paper and preserving paper materials here. Consider placing velcro dots onto the mat and separate colored apples. How to use: Place the colored apples in a bowl. Ask your child to match the colored apples to the black and white ones Demonstrate how to do the work. Take one colored apple. Place it on the first apple. Are the numbers the same? No, move onto the next apple on the mat. Yes? Place it on its match, and take the next colored apple card. Do this until all of the cards have been matched.
