April is a Good Month to Make Art at The Gallery of Ocean Shores! Mary Daniels-Lee is April Artist of the Month Our third Saturday event this month will be held on April 20. Pastel artist Mary Daniels-Lee is our featured artist this month. Mary s love of pastel began in Colorado when a friend gave her a set of pastels for her birthday. Mary has exhibited her art in Edmonds, Everette, Coupeville, Langley and Ocean Shores and has won awards for her pastel painting. She ll be at the gallery from 12-4 on Saturday 4/20 to answer questions. Refreshments will be served. Visiting Artist Mary Gibbs will be here April 14 & 15 Mary Gibbs will be teaching a two-day watercolor workshop on April 14 & 15. This is a limited class with our visiting artist, check out the enclosed flyer and be sure to sign up early for this great class! NEW CLASS Sacred Geometry with Justin The Circler Come join Justin on Wednesday April 17 for a fun day of creating art ON THE BEACH! After a quick gathering at the Gallery to discuss the process, you ll head to the beach to draw your design. Class fee is $20. Dress warm and bring your camera or cell phone to capture an image of your art before the ocean reclaims it! Coastal Interpretive Center Poster! Kathy Sandefur s photograph capturing a beautiful Peregrine Falcon is featured on the CIC billboard and poster. The poster will be on display until the end of April and is for sale at the gift shop of the Interpretive Center and at the Gallery of Ocean Shores. Art in the Round Friday April 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Everyone is welcome to join us on the second Friday of each month for our Art in the Round event. Professionally lit displays are set-up for you to sketch, paint or photograph or simply have snack and watch while we learn from each other. New Class with Justin The Circler Maybe you ve seen him out on the beach? We re excited to tell you that Justin The Circler will be providing instruction on creating beautiful designs and experiencing this relaxing and creative Zen like process! From Justin: Sacred geometry is the underlying code of nature and we will go over some basic constructions and philosophy in this class. These techniques can be applied to any artistic discipline you practice. We will be drawing in the sand like the ancients but will meet at the studio at 4:45PM on Wednesday the 17 th before heading to the beach. No materials are needed but dress warm and prepare for the beach. Come join Justin on Wednesday April 17 for a fun day of creating art ON THE BEACH! Scholarship Table at the Gallery There is a new table at The Gallery of Ocean Shores where artists have donated work that will directly benefit our scholarship fund. All proceeds from the scholarship table will help fund art class scholarships! The table has excellent prices, this is a great way to give back to your community, come take a look.
Art in the Round Come join us on Friday, April 12, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Displays will be set-up throughout the Gallery and the Workshop has easels for artists to come together and draw or paint and photograph the professionally set-up exhibits In the Round. This is a casual event for socializing, creating art, and learning from each other. Dessert Theater Last month we partnered with Stage West Productions and hosted a dessert theater. Stage West performed The Junkyard, an old-time radio broadcast that featured a talented group of astronauts! Everyone had an EXCELLENT time, thank you Stage West Players! Be sure to get your name on our postal mailing list for future events (some events require that invitations be sent through postal mail).
Art at the Interpretive Center The Coastal Interpretive Center continues its policy of using art from local artists on their billboard posters for 2019. Prints available at Coastal Interpretive Center Gift Shop and of course are featured at the Gallery of Ocean Shores for purchase. March and April will feature a magnificent Kathy Sandefur photograph of a Peregrine Falcon. Congratulations Kathy! Art Splash Studio Tour Call to Artists The first annual Art Splash Studio Tour is scheduled for August 10th and 11th, 2019. Artists on the coast are having this celebration of their work during the good weather on the coast. You are invited to join in as individual or groups of artists will open their studios, tents or homes to display their work to traveling guests. The deadline for entering is May 1, 2019. The Art Splash artists will be meeting on April 3rd at the Ocean Shores Subway at 10AM, with a follow up meeting on April 17th at the library at 10AM.
