Landscape Painting Short Courses L This is a short art course that allows people to develop and practise their skills in landscape painting. The art courses are structured so that students spend three days painting en plain air (in an open environment) and three days in the studio. During the three open-air sessions you will be taught to paint en plein air and to depict the shapes that characterise the landscape you wish to paint. You will be taught to handle colours and their tonal arrangements appropriately, as well as to make the most out of atmospheric and lighting effects within a landscape. The art teachers will instruct you to use both watercolour and acrylic paint, and you will also be encouraged to define your own landscape style, whether you like more defined and detailed depictions or abstracted compositions. During the two days in the studio you will be able to refine and review your work and, with the help of our tutors, finalise your compositions. Course Title - Landscape Painting There is not doubt that London is also an incredible location to study different types of landscapes, from the natural to the urban and industrial ones. The course will be organised throughout the year and across different locations and you can choose the location that inspires you the most. We offer three landscape painting courses: one in Kew Gardens, one in Greenwich Park and one in Hempstead Heath. Suitability This course is open to everyone, from beginners to advanced students. However, we do recommend taking an introductory course to landscape drawing before attending this one. This special workshop allows you to develop skills in the open air and to explore drawing techniques specific to landscape painting. WHAT YOU WILL HAVE ACHIEVED BY THE END OF THIS COURSE A solid understanding of how to structure the preliminary arrangement of your landscape composition The ability to develop your own colour palette following studies of lighting and atmospheric effects Good knowledge of how to systematically handle watercolour and acrylic painting and their tonal values for your landscape The ability to define your particular style, being it realistic and detailed or abstract A sound understanding of how to construct a coherent composition in which each of its elements relates consistently to one another 35
