Kids Enjoyed Halloween Fun Across the City Thanks to City employees and lots of volunteers, Detroit families had 25 locations this year to enjoy family-friendly, fun activities and lots of candy. New this year was the Haunted Park at Varier Park on Detroit s northwest side organized by the General Services Department with assistance from the Parks & Recreation Department. From spooky tales, carnival games, music and Halloween photos, area residents were lined up for some Halloween fun. The DDOT haunted bus was a hit again this year, as hundreds of kids and adults hopped on-board for a scare.
All of the City s recreation centers were transformed with Halloween decorations throughout the buildings. Activities ranged from haunted hallways and mazes, trunk-or-treating, carnival games, inflatables, a spooky train ride, and an exotic zoo. The Parks and Recreation Department racked up an impressive number of participants as 10,389 individuals visited its centers on Halloween, with another 290 individuals serving as volunteers. WHO YA GONNA CALL? The Ghostbusters again answered the call.
