Speakers Bio: Jenny Tian Managing Director Jenny has been in the investment management industry for most of her career which started in 1998. Prior to her current roles in the Springs Capital top management team, she gained extensive experience in investment research and portfolio management at a number of global investment houses. These include UBS, Citigroup Asset Management, Nomura and Harvest Fund. Of note is that she was the Director and Head of China Research at UBS Securities, where she was tasked with building up the China research team from scratch and led research in equity, fixed income and funds. At China s Harvest Fund, she was the Fund Manager of Large-Cap Core Fund & Capital Guaranteed Fund and also acted as the Deputy Director of Research. Her responsibilities in these roles included supervision of sector and company research, sector allocation, stock/bond selection and portfolio construction. An alumnus of Peking University (BA Economics), she also possesses an LLM (Yokohama National University) and an MBA (Baruch College, CUNY, US) Steffen Larsen - Trader Steffen Larsen is a trader at LIM Advisors, an Asian focused multi-strategy hedge fund with USD2 bn under management. At LIM Advisors he trades equities, currencies, derivatives and delta 1 products across different strategies. He is also working on a new proprietary systematic strategy which trades IPOs. Prior to joining LIM Advisors, Steffen spent two years working as an equity trader at an American investment bank KBW, where he traded equities for institutional clients. Before that, he worked in KBW s research department, focusing on South East Asian bank research. Steffen received a B.A in Economics and Finance from University of Hong Kong in 2011 and holds a CFA designation. He is fluent in English, Danish and German. When he is not on the trading desk, he spends his time reading, running and wakeboarding.
Chris Pearce Chief Operating Officer Chris Pearce is Chief Operating Officer of Marshall Wace Asia Ltd., joining the firm in 2006. Mr Pearce is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Hong Kong Office and is member of Marshall Wace s Global Operating Committee. Previously, Mr Pearce worked for eight years as a Managing Director at Citigroup as part of the Pan-Asian Equity Research management team. Mr Pearce is one of two Global Vice-Chairs for AIMA. He is active in a number of key industry forums and events, and is a long-standing member of AIMA s Global Council and its Hong Kong Executive Committee. Mr Pearce has held a variety of management roles in the equity areas of several prominent financial firms, such as UBS, Merrill Lynch and Smith New Court. He holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School and a BA in History & English from Kent University. He has been a resident of Hong Kong SAR since 1994. Vien Chiu Chief Financial Officer Ms. Vien Chiu is a Partner, Founding Member and CFO at Pleiad Investment Advisors. She joined Pleiad in April 2014 and worked with the team to launch a Pan-Asia fund. Previously, Ms. Chiu worked in the Goldman Sachs Prime Brokerage team for 12 years. Ms. Chiu joined the Prime Brokerage team in 2002 as a Client Services Representative and assumed responsibility for the New Business Group in 2009. She was also involved in many aspects of the of the Prime Brokerage s China activities. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ms. Chiu spent 5 years with JPMorgan in their internal audit team covering global trading desks as well as M&A activities. Ms. Chiu graduated from the University of Queensland in Australia and holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce. She is a member of the CPA Australia and the CFA Institute.
Yan-Yan Li Managing Director & COO Yan-Yan is a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer responsible for all the operational matters as well as legal and compliance at SAIL Advisors Limited. Yan-Yan has over 21 years of experience in the financial industry. She joined SAIL in April 2007 from State Street Global Advisors Asia Limited where she was the Head of Legal & Compliance for seven years, responsible for the legal and compliance issues relating to SSgA in Asia ex-japan. Prior to SSgA, Yan-Yan was an Assistant Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson as part of the Legal and Compliance Team, the Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer at Peregrine Asset Management Limited and a legal adviser at Bermuda Trust (Hong Kong) Limited. She started her career with Russell DuMoulin in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Hong Kong in 1990 to join Boughton Peterson Yang Anderson, a Canadian law firm. Yan-Yan holds a law degree from University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia and is admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia, Canada; Law Society of the Supreme Court, United Kingdom and Law Society of Hong Kong. She is a member of Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Education Sub- Committee. Sam Wong Junior Quantitative Analyst Sam is a Junior Quantitative Analyst responsible for risk management and quantitative analysis. He joined SAIL Advisors in May 2015. He received his Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance at The University of Hong Kong. He had internship experience with Chartwell Capital Limited, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and HSBC.
Heide H Blunt - Managing Director, Head of Asia-Pacific, AIMA Heide has two decades of experience specialising in the Asia-Pacific region, with both buy and sell-side institutions at a senior level. Heide joined the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) in May 2013 to head their Hong Kong Chapter as Managing Director. In 2014 Heide assumed responsibility for AIMA s Asia-Pacific activities and its offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Australia. As the global hedge fund association, AIMA has over 1,500 corporate members worldwide and AIMA s manager members oversee a combined $1.5 trillion in assets. Prior to AIMA, Heide was Chief Financial Officer for Tybourne Capital Management (HK) Ltd, where she was jointly responsible for building and overseeing all areas of Business Management. Prior to Tybourne, Heide worked at Elements Advisors Ltd as their Chief Operating Officer. Heide also has an extensive client service background gained from Credit Suisse, where she spent eleven years in the Asian Equities proprietary and facilitation trading businesses, based in both London and Hong Kong. Heide holds a Master of Arts in English Literature from Oxford University.
