2014 FLL Competition The Project: Learning Unleashed The teams mission was to find a better or more innovative way to help someone learn something. Teams were asked to, Create an innovative solution that improves the learning experience and share the solutions with others. The team presented their idea through a live skit on the day of the competition The Robot Game: Mission setup & Robot Design The Robot Game (Mission setup & Robot Design & functionality) The teams goal was to complete as many missions as possible within a 2 minute and 30 second competition window Teams went robot to robot to see which robot could perform the MOST missions Teams earned points for every successful mission

What the Teens Thought About FLL What the Robotics team taught me was that being part of a team is better than being alone. I took with me that there is nothing like having people supporting you, and helping you up if you feel down. What was fun was that we actually got to build the robot, program it, and compete with it. The thing that will stick with me the most will be that a team is a group that can always help you get through what you re going through. You can always trust your teammates! JONAH

What the Teens Thought About FLL My coaches are awesome KAMARI

What the Teens Thought About FLL I loved my coaches the most TAELA

What the Teens Thought About FLL Robotics is hard to explain. I will not lie, it is not easy, but I enjoyed it. There are some people now, that are like my family, others we just became friends. I developed new relationships and strengthen old ones. My task for the team was a programmer. A programmer makes the robot perform physical actions. For rookies, I think we did a good job. I would recommend this to other teens that are looking for teamwork and have an interest in technology and STEM ALIYA

What the Teens Thought About FLL This year I was new to Robotics. Being new to robotics, I didn t know what to expect. As I started coming to more and more meetings, I began to see how fun robotics was going to be. Over the course of several weeks, we became very close. Being a programmer was a challenge. I liked the mind-storms software. In the robotics games your team really depends on you and your programming abilities. I loved competition and going against other people. It was a learning experience for our team, giving it was our first year competing. We had a good season and I would recommend robotics to family and friends. SCYLER

What the Teens Thought About FLL Our coaches put your coaches to shame AVIANA

What the Teens Thought About FLL My coaches are better than your coaches GABRIEL

What the Teens Thought About FLL The time that I put forth in Robotics was very challenging, interesting, and exciting. It was good to work with a group that didn t understand what they were doing in the very beginning. I say that because we progressed together and learned as one unit. Being able to work on different obstacles could be pretty difficult, but that is even better. This program will help not just me, but many other kids in robotics. Robotics helped me gain critical thinking skills, a helpful and patient spirit, and also to be a team player. The skills that we learned should be able to follow me wherever I may seem to travel, rather it s an afterschool activity, or a job interview. The program varies in many different skill building activities. For the most part I enjoyed being on the Robotics team! LINDSEY

What the Teens Thought About FLL I enjoyed the Robotics program, it was a great experience. The Robotics program helped me a lot with being responsible because the team depended on me to build the robot. The program helped me have different experiences with different people. Although some times things were challenging, we always were there for each other. I like the program because I want to be a design and build engineer when I grow up, and I think this will give me a good experience for that. TYLER

Coaches Feedback Renee- "I enjoy seeing the teens' excitement when they have completed a task that they thought was difficult or impossible. My motto is: Solutions, not excuses!" Maneke-"As a new coach it has been fun watching how the teens engage and learn in the field of robotics. From building to programming the teens have really put forth a great effort to meet this year's challenge. I cannot wait until the competition!" Wendy-"Watching the team dynamics unfold has been amazing. Observing them develop problem solving strategies to overcome challenges has been fulfilling and exciting. As a new coach it has been a wonderful experience spending time watching their enjoyment when they achieve success."
