Alaskan Western Red Cedar Why Raynor? 1 Wood Garage Door Buyer s Guide Alaskan Western Red Cedar Raynor wood garage doors are manufactured with lumber cut from fully-grown, Alaskan Western Red Cedar, ensuring the trees reach full maturity before being harvested. Alaskan Western Red Cedar trees utilized for lumber in our garage doors are left to nature s schedule for reaching maturity, without any intervention from man to assist in their growth. In Alaska s natural environment, trees grow with rings that are closer together, meaning higher ring density, more rigidity, and greater strength. Additionally, this lumber is typically more resistant to rot and insects, and more stable and makes all the difference when it comes to the quality of the wood.
Vertical Grain Lumber 2 Why Raynor? Vertical Grain Lumber Lumber is milled in a variety of different qualities, the highest of which is cut perpendicular to the grain. Lumber cut in this fashion is commonly referred to as vertical cut lumber. Vertical cut lumber is known to be the best, not only because it enhances the rich beauty of wood graining, it is also more rigid, resulting in greater resistance to warping and cracking. Raynor ArborShore TM garage doors utilize vertical cut lumber for all fascia boards. This not only creates a more beautiful appearance to our garage doors, it also ensures our doors will withstand the test of time delivering the optimum prevention against premature deterioration. Flat Grain Vertical Grain Vertical grain lumber is cut perpendicular to the grain, ensuring the optimum degree of strength and resiliency. Flat Ver tic al
Uniform Wood Tone Consistency 3 Why Raynor? Wood Tone Consistency Wood, by nature, has varying degrees of color-tone. Typically, Western Red Cedar is classified in five different tone colors: Light, Medium Light, Medium, Medium Dark, and Dark. Most garage door manufacturers assemble their garage doors without sorting lumber according to these tones. Such a process creates varying degrees of light and dark inconsistency in the overall look of their garage doors. Although this technique results in more efficient, less expensive, and less laborious assembly processes, it does not, however, result in the most beautiful garage door. This is why Raynor s ArborShore TM and StreamWood TM garage doors are assembled grouping wood tone colors between light and medium, and medium and dark, resulting in a more consistent, beautiful look to our garage doors and your home.
Delivery 4 Why Raynor? Delivery That is Second to None There s no waiting with Raynor, as ArborShore and StreamWood garage doors are pre-manufactured. By carrying hundreds of popular designs and sizes in stock, ready to ship, we eliminate weeks of lead time in delivering these garage doors. Typically, when you place an order from Raynor, your ArborShore or StreamWood garage door will be delivered in less than two weeks from the time we receive the order. This is considerably less than other manufacturers in the wood garage door industry, who typically require a minimum of six weeks lead time.
Superior Construction 5 Why Raynor? Superior Construction Raynor utilizes the highest quality construction techniques available. Frames are constructed of Sitka- Spruce, which has one of the best strength-to-weight ratios among wood species. Frame rails are constructed using a very labor intensive design, incorporating mortise & tenon joinery and hardwood dowels, creating the best construction available. ArborShore and StreamWood doors are constructed using stainless steel fasteners and top-quality, exterior grade wood glue. Once assembled, each door is cold-pressed, ensuring the strongest adhesion for all components. #20 biscuits are used joining trim boards, which is labor intensive but provides superior controls against warping and joint separation. These characteristics, and much more, combine to provide our customers peace of mind in knowing they have purchased a wood garage door from Raynor, that is built to last. Frame boards feature mortise & tenon joinery and hardwood dowels. Biscuit #20 Trim boards are made with maturegrowth, Sitka Spuce, and manufactured with #20 biscuits in each joint.
