UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB SCHOOL OF MEDICINE Plan of the course Epidemiology Academic year 2015/2016
I. COURSE AIMS Medical students have to acquire knowledge of: 1. understanding prevalence of medical problems (illness, injury, disability and death) in population, gathering data for morbidity and mortality; setting health priorities; 2. understanding the dynamics of infectious diseases transmission, discovering carriers, knowing about vaccination and other methods of primary and secondary prevention of communicable diseases (e.g. seroprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis); 3. analytical approach in risk assessment study design and quantitative presentation of risk; 4. planning, organization and implementation of primary and secondary prevention measures of non-infectious mass diseases and evaluation of these programs II.
