Canning & Preserved Entries: Must not have been shown at a previous Gold Country Fair. Must have been made by the exhibitor within one year of the opening date of the Fair. Must be sealed in standard canning jars (See Rules 6 & 7). Must be two jars of the same size, and of the same batch. 3. All dried products must be wrapped or sealed in clear plastic, or sealed in clear jars. 4. Must be in the quantities and sizes specified in Exhibitor Handbook 5. Foods that require refrigeration cannot be entered. 6. Standard Jars: Must be a clear glass container specifically designed for canning purposes. All canning may be in a quart, pint or half pint jar. No special covers or lids allowed and No drinking Jars allowed. 7. Seals: All jars must be tightly sealed, with rings. No paraffin seals allowed. 8. Labels: All jars must be neatly labeled with two small labels (not larger than 2" x 2", as labels block view of contents). LABEL ON FRONT OF JAR to state: name of product, date of pack, method used. LABEL ON BOTTOM OF JAR to state: division number, class number, exhibitor s name. 9. Methods of Canning - Jams and jellies - open kettle or water bath. 10.
