P a g e 3 Paul Harris Level-Ups It was a Poljak moment last Tuesday when President Joe awarded new lapel pins for Denis and Davor Poljak. Denis Poljak received his PHF+4 pin. He is Senior Vice President with the Poljak Group at Morgan Stanley. He attended Centenary College on a tennis scholarship and from Centenary he received degrees in accounting and business administration. He then earned his MBA from Louisiana Tech University and his PhD in economics from the University of Sarajevo. Denis spends time working with Centenary College to help ensure that its strong reputation continues to grow within the community. In his spare time he plays tennis and rides bikes. He was previously a member of the Rotary Club of South Shreveport before joining our club in 2012. Davor Poljak, a scant two years younger than brother Denis, received his PHF+3 pin. Following in his brother s footsteps, Davor also attended Centenary College on a tennis scholarship. After graduating with a degree in business administration, he owned a successful tennis academy in his native country and then worked at several prominent tennis academies in the U.S. In 2006 Davor joined the Poljak Group at Morgan Stanley and is now Vice President/Senior Portfolio Manager. Both Poljaks grew up in Zenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, are multi-lingual and speak four languages. Both are married to Shreveport girls and they have now been joined in our community by their parents who have relocated here. P a g e 5 What: Rotary Leadership Institute When: Friday, February 15th and Saturday, February 16th Where: BPCC campus, Bossier City Cost: FREE and includes free lunch! You asked for it and we are going to do it! The next sessions of Rotary Leadership Institute are up on the HOA-RLI website for registration. We have had requests for Friday sessions, and the chance to knock out two parts in the same weekend. So here it is! Friday February 15th---Bossier Parish Community College Parts I, II and III are being offered. As always---part I is free and paid for by District 6190. Parts II and III will be paid by our club for our members and for Rotaract members. Lunch and all materials are provided. You must take only one Part in a day and they must be taken in sequence. Saturday February 16th---Bossier Parish Community College Parts I, II and III are offered, as well as Facilitator Training! Again---all are to be taken in sequence, one part per day. So you can take one session on Friday if you want and the next one on Saturday. On Saturday---Part I and Facilitator Training are free and paid for by the District. Lunch and materials provided. This is fast-paced, interactive training---not a lecture. Two days and take your choice!!! Or take one part each day!!! Facilitator training cannot be taken until you have completed all three parts----no exceptions. (It is fun!!!) Sign up now! Go to: "hoa-rli.org"---scroll to bottom of homepage and pick the session and date you are ready to take in District 6190 on 2/15 and/or 2/16. If taking Parts II or III, select to pay by check at the door. If this is well received we will do it more often on back to back days. But if you snooze you lose!!!! Sign up now! These leadership skills can be used in any area of your life---not just Rotary!!!!
