Locks: provide locks for all doors and drawers. 2.07 FBRICTION. ssembly: Shop assemble cabinets for delivery to site in units easily handled and to permit passage through building openings. B. Edging: Fit shelves, doors, and exposed edges with specified edging. Do not use more than one piece for any single length. C. Door and Drawer Fronts: 3/4 inch thick; reveal overlay style. D. Fitting: When necessary to cut and fit on site, provide materials with ample allowance for cutting. Provide matching trim for scribing and site cutting. E. Plastic Laminate: pply plastic laminate finish in full uninterrupted sheets consistent with manufactured sizes. Fit corners and joints hairline; secure with concealed fasteners. Slightly bevel arises. Locate counter butt joints minimum 2 feet from sink cut-outs. F. pply laminate backing sheet to reverse side of plastic laminate finished surfaces. G. Mechanically fasten back splash to countertops with steel brackets at 16 inches on center. H. Provide cutouts for plumbing fixtures. Verify locations of cutouts from on-site dimensions. Prime paint cut edges. I. Identification of Cabinet Surfaces by Visibility: 1. Exposed Surfaces: a. Surfaces visible when drawers and opaque doors are closed. b. Bottoms of cabinets that are 42" or more above finished floor. c. Surfaces visible behind clear glass doors. d. Top of cabinets below 78" above finished floor. 2. Semi-Exposed Surfaces: a. Surfaces visible when opaque doors are opened or drawers are extended. b. Surfaces visible when bottoms of cabinets are more than 30" and less than 42" above finished floor. 3. Concealed (Unexposed) Surfaces: a. Surfaces not visible after installation. b. Bottoms of cabinets less than 30" above finished floor. c. Tops of cabinets at least 78" above finish floor and not visible from an upper level. d. Stretchers, blocking, and components, concealed by drawers. J. Base Cabinet (without doors): with HPDL GP50 to match the door and drawer front color. Provide adequate excess laminate to scribe cabinet to wall if required. 2. Bottom of cabinet shall be 3/4" thick particleboard laminated on exposed surfaces with HPDL GL50 and semi-exposed surfaces with melamine. The front edge shall be banded with HPDL GL50 to match the door and drawer front color. 4. Stretchers and top rails for top support shall be 3/4" thick particleboard by full depth and width of cabinet. 5. djustable shelves shall be melamine over 3/4" thick particleboard up to 30" wide and 1" thick particleboard 30" to 48" wide. The front edge shall match shelf color. N. Drawers: 1. Sides, backs, and sub-front shall be 1/2" thick particleboard laminated with melamine. The back and sub-front shall be doweled and glued into sides. Dowels shall be fluted, with chamfered ends and a minimum diameter of eight (8) millimeters. Top edge is banded with melamine. Drawer sides, backs and sub-fronts shall be 1" shorter than drawer face dimension. 2. Drawer bottom is melamine over 1/4" thick hardboard set into sides, back, and front in grooves 1/4" deep with a minimum 3/8" standing shoulder. Spot glue and reinforce with glue blocks. Bottom may be glued and nailed to bottom edge of back. 3. Paper storage drawers are a heavy-duty 3/4" particleboard construction with plywood reinforcements at bottom and a retaining hood at the rear of each drawer. 4. Provide dust panels of 1/4" thick tempered hardboard above all drawers and compartments except where immediately below top of cabinet or counter top. 0. Bases: 1. Integral with cabinet with recessed toe kick. 2. Prepare base for installation of base specified elsewhere. PRT 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXMINTION. Verify adequacy of backing and support framing. B. Examine the job site and the conditions under which the Work under this Section is to be performed. Notify the rchitect in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed with Work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in acceptable manner. C. Condition millwork to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation areas prior to installing. D. Verify location and sizes of utility rough-in associated with work of this section. 3.02 INSTLLTION Install casework with factory-trained supervision authorized by manufacturer/fabricator. Erect casework, plumb, level, true and straight with no distortions. Shim as required. Where laminate clad casework and paneling abuts other finished Work, scribe and cut to accurate fit. 1. Field Joinery: Comply with Wl requirements for shop joinery. 2. Make joints neatly, with uniform appearance. 3. Bolt adjacent lockers together for rigidity. B. djust casework and hardware so that doors and drawers operate smoothly without warp or bind. Lubricate operating hardware as recommended by manufacturer. C. Use purpose designated fixture attachments for all mounted components. D. Countersink semi-concealed anchorage devices used to wall mount components, and conceal and plugs of matching material. Place flush with surrounding surfaces. E. Coordinate mechanical and electrical items to be installed in the Work of this Section. F. Set and secure custom cabinets in place, assuring that they are rigid, plumb, and level. G. Use fixture attachments in concealed locations for wall mounted components. H. Use concealed joint fasteners to align and secure adjoining cabinet units and countertops. I. Carefully scribe millwork abutting other components, with maximum gaps of 1/32 inch. Do not use additional overlay trim for this purpose. J. Secure cabinets and counter bases to floor using appropriate angles and anchorages. K. Countersink anchorage devices at exposed locations. Conceal with solid wood plugs of species to match surrounding wood; finish flush with surrounding surfaces. L. Provide cutouts in back and sides of cabinets for junction boxes. Maintain tight to junction box as possible so that trim plates cover all gaps. 3.03 DJUSTING djust installed work. B. djust moving or operating parts to function smoothly and correctly. 3.04 CLENING ND PROTECTION Repair damaged and/or defective millwork to eliminate visual and functional defects. Where repair is not possible, replace millwork. B. Clean exposed and semi-exposed surfaces, repair minor damage per manufacturer"s recommendations. C.
