PRESIDENT S MESSAGE www.pinnaclequilter.org May 2017, VOL. 14, Issue 2 Happy May to all you quilters out there! The year is "swishing" by so fast I can hardly keep up with the days! We had another fabulous "Fabric Sale" at Bev's house in keeping with Lorene's wishes. Bev has the figures, but it was a productive day all around. If you missed it, and wish to add to your stash, contact Bev Hanagan to make arrangements to see what you can purchase. Remember, all monies collected from these sales goes towards future speaker's fees. If you want good speakers, you have to step up to the plate!!! At our May guild meeting, we will be having "Affiliates' Night" --- always fun and informative with new items, fabrics, notions & new ideas from our affiliates. Remember to support our affiliates who keep us in supplies -- without them we would not be able to make our fabulous quilts, table runners, placemats, etc.!!!! Our Opportunity Quilt has been at Nimble Thimble in Gilroy for a week or so. The quilt was also at our "Fabric Sale" on April 29th where a few more tickets were sold. It will be going to the guild meeting in King City on Monday, May 2th with the hope that we will sell more tickets. The raffle for the Opportunity Quilt will be at the Corbin Motors facility on July 1st. Sadly, Julee Maggiora, who brought back the opportunity quilt after an absence, has had to step down and will no longer be affiliated with the guild or the opportunity quilt. Our annual Election of Board Members will be held at our June 20th general guild meeting, we need volunteers to be Boutique Co-Chairs (it is so much easier for 2 people in this position). Bradwyn and Jane will be mentoring the new co-chairs for a month or so, to familiarize them with every aspect of the position. Please think about volunteering for one of these positions. Without volunteers, we will be forced to close the boutique until we have someone to manage it. A slate of potential/returning board members/chairs will be printed in another area of this newsletter -- contact any board member if you want to add your name to the ballot. Yes, we do allow write-ins on the night of the election!!! Our annual Christmas Party will be on Tuesday, December 5th --- MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! The quilt for our bookkeeper, Ann Strickland, is at Linda Barbin's for quilting, and will be presented to Ann at our annual July BBQ. It is beautiful so plan to attend so you can see it! The budget review/bylaws review committee(s) will be meeting the first week of May to go over the budget and bylaws. If you have any suggestions, or wish to sit in on the meeting, contact Diane Mezerkor or Bev Hanagan. Have a great May and keep quilting! Dianna Smith, President What's Happening!
