ON THE GO By Alix Graham-Michel A very pretty accessory bag that you will create using the best features of your DESIGNER DIAMOND Royale. You will use Appliqué, Design Shaping, Design Positioning, quilting and learn an amazing One-minute zipper application. Everyone will leave happy with their project and a DESIGNER DIAMOND Royale in hand. SEWING SUPPLIES: HUSQVARNA VIKING DESIGNER DIAMOND Royale Sewing and Embroidery Machine DESIGNER Crown Hoop (260x200) 413116501 Sensor Q-foot 413192045 Interchangeable Dual Feed foot 920219096 Changeable Open Toe foot 413237845 Changeable Zigzag foot (comes with Interchangeable Dual Feed) INSPIRA Topstich needle 90/14 620099096 INSPIRA Universal needle 80/12 620098096 INSPIRA Tear-A-Way Stabilizer 620112296 ½ yard of light weight or decorator fabric for outer bag and wristlet ½ yard of coordinating cotton for lining (floral print), appliqué and flap 20 L x 14 W of Warm & Natural batting Regular 18 zipper Sulky Blendable to complement fabrics Robison Anton 40wt embroidery thread 50wt sewing thread coordinating with outer fabric Embroidery bobbin thread Appliqué scissors

SEWING SUPPLIES (CONT.): Marking pen Ruler Rotary Cutter Pins, Scissors, snipers CUT: From outer fabric: 22 L x 15 W 10 L x 3 W (for wristlet) From Lining Fabric: PREPARE: 14 L x 3 ½ W for flap 22 L x 1)5 W for lining 6 square for appliqué Layer the 22 L x 15 W, outer fabric, batting and lining (lining wrong side up, batting next and outer fabric wrong side on batting). Pin together QUILT: 1. Insert the 90/14 Topstitch and thread your sewing machine with Sulky Blendable and bobbin thread in the bobbin. 2. Screw on the Interchangeable Dual Feed foot and snap on the Changeable Open Toe foot 3. Select Woven Heavy on your EXCLUSIVE SEWING ADVISOR 4. Select the Stitch Menu E, Stitch E-4. 5. Starting from the center, sew vertical rows, 2 ¾ apart. 6. When done, press and trim down to 20 L x 14 W.

PREPARE WRISTLET: 1. Fold the 10 L x 3 W wristlet piece in half lengthwise- open strip and fold raw edge toward the center crease 2. Press on the folded edge then fold in half and sew wristlet with Stitch E-4 3. Press and set aside CREATE DESIGN: 1. Switch your HUSQVARNA VIKING DESIGNER DIAMOND Royale to Embroidery Mode. Select the Appliqué icon. The next screen will open, displaying all the different shapes that can be used to create appliqués. Select the Heart shape. The scale icon will be active. Set the size at and select the wide candlewicking stitch. Your applique is created. 2. Next, on the same embroidery screen, go to the stitch Menu, select Menu D2, Touch OK; on this screen, touch and hold the trash can a pop up will say delete all stitches touch OK. Next select Stitch 42, then Mirror image side to side and touch OK.

3. On the Embroidery screen, select Design Shaping, a new screen will open displaying all the shapes that can be used with this feature. Select the heart shape The scale icon will be active. Set the size at 140 and 116.6. 4. Then, select Number of Objects icon, when the window pop ups, enter 50. The stitches will populate around the shape. Touch OK. 5. On this new screen, go to the Font Menu icon, select Font Clarendon 30, select the letter of your choice and touch OK. You will notice that the letter will be off center touch the center of the wheel and the letter will be centered. EMBROIDER: 1. Using your erasable marking pen, on the long side of the quilted piece, first, measure 2 ½ - draw a line widthwise (short side). From that measurement, measure 9, draw a line. At the ironing board, fold and press on the 9 line to create a crease. 2. Next, find the center of the 9 inch section and place a mark. 3. Hoop your DESIGNER Crown hoop (260 x 200) with the INSPIRA Tear-A-Away stabilizer. 4. Select the Design Positioning icon and touch the cross, the needle will move to the center of the design. 5. Place the center mark on your quilted piece underneath the needle making sure that your fabric is well positioned over the stabilizer. We are ready to embroider

6. Touch Go and select the basting icon. 7. To prevent the fabric from floating over the stabilizer, we will use the foot pedal to baste the quilted piece over the stabilizer. 8. Touch, and embroider. The appliqué design will go through all the steps: outline of design, stop, and place the 6 square over the outline, touch start again, when the machine stops, touch the hoop icon, select Trim position, the hoop will move forward to allow you to trim the fabric around the stitches. Select Current stitch position the hoop will move back in position. Touch and complete embroidery. Remove stabilizer and press (always steam press embroidery from the wrong side). Zipper Insertion: 1. Fold the flap in half lengthwise, press. Screw on the Interchangeable Dual Feed foot and snap on the Changeable Zigzag foot. On the short side, closer to the 2 ½ fold of the quilted piece, place flap with raw edge in line with raw edge of quilted piece; place zipper face down with the outer edge of the tape in line with the raw edge. 2. Select Menu A, Stitch A-1, the needle will move to the extreme left side of the foot. Sew zipper making sure the stitching is not too close to the zipper coil. Next, fold up the other short side of the quilted fabric to the unsewn side of the zipper tape (make sure all the pieces are even). Sew the other side. The zipper is in.

BAG CONSTRUCTION: 1. Fold bag on the pressed creases. Open zipper halfway and pin the ends together. Fold wristlet in half and using a 5/8 seam allowance, sew both sides of bag with a straight stitch, making sure to slow down when going over the zipper coil. Trim seam down to a ¼. wristlet 2. Select Stitch A-11; zigzag finish both sides of the bag. 3. Turn bag right side out, press and fill it with your precious treasures!!!
