CALL TO ORDER. President David Chichilitti called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Salute to the Flag. AGENDA APPROVAL Second: Mr. Hill 1
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (agenda items). None. RECOGNITION: Dr. Davis recognized outgoing board members and thanked them for their service to the board, the Bristol Borough Community and the educational process of the school district. On a personal level, Dr. Davis thanked those directors for their support during their tenure. Dr. Davis acknowledged outgoing president, David Chichilitti, and thanked him for the extra time he spent during the past year(s) acting as president. SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT: Dr. Davis asked Mr. Roe to share an update regarding the demolition of the elementary school on Buckley Street. Mr. Roe stated: The consultant that was hired in October is proceeding with the necessary steps. A meeting has been held with Borough officials to determine the process required by the Borough Specifications for the project should be out by the end of December or early in January. Actual bidding is planned for January. After the bids are awarded, the environmental issues regarding the interior of the building will be addressed. The building is expected to be demolished in June. STUDENT DELEGATES: excused PRINCIPALS REPORTS - Each principal shared reports of upcoming events in their schools. Mr. Shaffer shared an update on the District s Strategic Plan. He introduced Sal Sermania, who would be sharing a presentation tonight on the trip to Italy. PRESENTATION: Sal Sermania, Secondary Italian Teacher, and students shared brief reports and pictures showcasing their participation in the Europe and Beyond Conference held in Sinigallia, Italy. The conference was vigorous and highly academic, and our students were never outshined. Through the efforts of Vincent Virgulti, Anna Bono Larrisey, and the Columbus 500 Foundation, the trip was made possible with no cost to the district or the students. Mr. Sermania stated that he was never so proud to be a Bristol Borough teacher representing the United States. He acknowledged Mr. Roe, Mr. Shaffer and Donna Oriolo for their help in making the trip possible. Mr. Petrino, who served as a parent chaperone, expressed his positive thoughts as well. 2
BOARD PRESIDENT S REPORT: Mr. Chichilitti read Dr. Davis attached letter of intent to retire effective June 30, 2011. In his letter Dr. Davis thanked the board for the opportunity to serve in the district where his was born. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Mr. Petrino, Vo-Tech Representative, MONTHLY BUSINESS: a) Approve minutes of October 22, 2009. b) Approve list of bills for November 2009. c) Approve Treasurer s Report for October 2009 (Mr. Petrino read the report) Second: Mr. Paleafico NEW BUSINESS a) Approve the PA Department of Education required Academic Standards and Assessment Mid-Point Review Plan and the Professional Education Plan. b) Approve administrative salaries for the 2009-2010 fiscal year as per the attached. c) Increase daily rate for professional substitutes from $70 per day to: $90 per day, and after 20 consecutive days, the rate will be $100 per day retroactive to the first day of employment. d) Approve request of Daniel Vlassenko, Health & Physical Education Teacher at the Elementary/Middle School, for a Restoration of Health Sabbatical Leave of Absence through the 1 st semester of the 2009-2010 school year as per the PA School Code. e) Approve the request of the following teachers for days without pay: Heather Quattrocchi Secondary English Teacher January 7 & 8, 2010 Jason Molden District Music Teacher January 11 & 12, 2010 Second: Mr. Petrino 3
PERSONNEL Professional a) Approve the appointment of Leona Kusharski as a District Daily Substitute from January 29, 2010 through June 15, 2010 at $100 a day with no benefits. Note: Regina Bono was approved for this position; however, she has accepted a position elsewhere. b) Approve the following personnel to the District Professional Substitute List for the 2009-2010 school year at a daily rate of $90.00 Dawn Rigney Peter DeLuca Kenneth Brask Cynthia Fingrutd Alan Goldstein Nurse Health/PE Guest Teacher Guest Teacher Guest Teacher c) Approve the following to vacant supplemental positions for the 2009-2010 school year as per the Master Agreement. Susan French Melanie Jernigan Sophomore Class Advisor Student Council Advisor d) Adjust the salary of James Esposito to $89,000 effective the 2009-2010 fiscal year consistent with him assuming the duties of Assistant Principal of the Snyder-Girotti Elementary/Middle School. Non-Professional a) Approve the appointment of Samuel Rodriguez as a Temporary District Custodian (full-time night position) with salary and benefits as per the AFSCME Agreement, pending a 60- working-day probationary period. b) Approve the following additions to the District Substitute Cafeteria List: Alyssa D Angelo Virginia Berrocal-Huffnagle c) Approve the appointment of Patricia Young as a part-time Non-Instructional Aide, effective November 16, 2009 through the end of the 2009-2010 school year at an hourly rate of $10.80/no benefits for four (4) hours per day. (Position is funded through IDEA funds.) Note: Barbara Donnelly, who was appointed to this position in October, did not accept the position. 4

REPRESENTATIVE: Ted Feldstein stated that it is nice to be back in his original teaching routes. He thanked Mr. Hill for his service on behalf of the special needs students in Bucks County. Mr. Feldstein is now the Supervisor of Special Education at the Intermediate Unit. He acknowledged Mr. Shaffer and his staff at Bristol High School for the warm phenomenal welcome of two (2) I.U. classes with significant disabilities. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION: PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: Next public meeting will be December 7, 2009. Executive sessions are routinely held ½ hour before public meetings to discuss real estate, legal or personnel issues.
