The Little Fish Transcript welcome back everybody we are going to do this nice little scare to fish so if you've been following on to our shark tutorial you might notice this little guy in the thumbnail so I just wanted to go through kind of it a little quick guy where we can go through all the inking and all the color together and you can kind of put it all together so let's go through our little fish I did give you the nice little template layer and all you need to do to start it is file place find our little scared fish and then what we are doing is that we created a template layer so just go into your menu scroll down and then select template and you're ready to go so I have a new layer I have already created a new layer directly above my template layer I'm going to come over and use the ellipse tool and I am going to basically have a black stroke I'll leave it at one for right now and then for the fill we're just going to stay stay out no fill okay so first thing I want to do is scroll out with using my ellipse I am holding down shift and alt to keep everything nice in the streets next I'm just looking for any of the little bumps for the most part this is all gonna stay pretty consistent so what I'm going to do is just come in i clicked c which is also our scissor tool right over here and I'm just seeing what I am gonna get rid of now this is actually I can get rid of this whole chunk all the way down to let's just get right around here most of that is gonna get chopped off wrong one okay next let's do more circles let's get those out of the way Circle Circle and some of these strokes are gonna look big for right now we're gonna come in and just modify those okay so let's just up crush this guy out black I don't want a stroke this we can have a dark-blue let's go No and then wait for the Phil so it's a little big and with that a much smaller okay looks good click-click-click I am going to group those just so when I come back I don't have to do that every time I'm going to click alt option get that little white arrow and then let's bring that right on over okay looks good back on the ellipse tool no Phil let's just go back to black I'm gonna bring that one up and for this next one I'm just going to holding down alt option and I'm just bringing down and we're just going to scale that one so we have that little shadow under the eye here okay let's start cranking this out I'm going to go to pen tool click P click we're just going to do this little version here so I'm going to click like click let's zoom in so you can see what I'm doing looks good now I'm gonna do shift C and shift C is just the convert anchor tool and I actually want this guy good shift see I just wanted to kind of drop-down looks good let's go pee click click and click I'm gonna click plus give ourselves another little anchor point in here looks good shifts II get our little anchor point curve that one up curve that one up and then I'm gonna move the inside here yeah that works P okay I think I did move this up right around that crease P this is just that bec-fin shift see looks good click P again and I'm just going to copy this one over so we're going to finish this one and just bring it right on over a little curve a little curve alright like it okay hold down shift or alt/option sorry bring that over I'm going to rightclick transform and we're going to reflect this one and I want it on a vertical access good pee number start with the mouth and then we can come back and modify and I'm just gonna zoom out so I can use my original here okay so let's go back to ship see pretty sure this point is going to move up quite a bit okay I think I like that angle capi a lot of this is just going to be how much of this lip d1 in there just kind of line those up so don't have to edit too much later I'm going to do a 1

little circle that's going to be for the back of the mouth we get to go see which is our scissor tool by the way hiding under your eraser there's that one check check clack straight through their shifts see good pee okay at this point I'm just checking angles I'm gonna reset click P I'm just going to go our straight through the mouth here okay little boo-boo Chuck let's just see if we need anything okay I'm gonna take the lasso tool what I'm noticing is that bottom lip I want that bottom lip a little bit Marc sent it out so all I'm doing is grabbing all those little endpoints and then just dragging them out and a lot of this we could be moving once we do our brushes but right there I say we're good I'm going to duplicate this just so I have it lock that out that's just so if I ever want to go back I always have it alright so now we are going to start doing our brushes there we go there we go that makes me happy now we can see stuff alright so if you have not loaded up our cartoon brushes make sure you guys follow along to that video I did give you the link in the description and just loading them takes literally two minutes to do all your going to open up the file drag these into each one of these into your brush panel and then save them as an art brush each one takes I don't know 10 seconds tops it is a very quick process okay taper okay that looks good I don't think I have anything on that one I'm going to use my scissors shop there let's chop there delete this one is going to be a fat to taper next one there we go let's go to actually take that back let's go one point five nice 1.5 now all these little overlap lines if you've not watched our cleanup process all that goes away and since this one is all black I'm not going to do too much with it okay most of these are going to be that taper taper taper this one goes fat skinny fat I believe this one goes fat skinny fat when I say skip fat skinny fat it just has a fat skinny in the middle feda the other end that's what that means okay for these I think we can start the coloring process for these white fill this one's gonna have a black fill I'm going to send those the back and I'm going to bring that to the front okay at this point in time all I'm really doing is I'm looking to see if all of my lines are where I want them to be for cleanup purposes sometimes when you extend these out it does make your life a little bit easier especially like these little corners but for the most part no that guy that's going to fan I bring that guy back up to 1.5 I'm gonna do this I am gonna snip oh yeah oh that's much nicer keep in mind all that's gonna get black okay I think we are ready to go so we have that I'm then going to expand everything so now we are ready to zoom in we're then going to start doing our eraser tool so I just clicked so basically what I'm doing is I'm selecting the object and I totally didn't did that one I don't think let's do that again hi I'm trekked expand that's what I'm looking for shifty so selecting the line shifty come back in and knock it out I don't know what that line is so any of the little overlaps that you don't want that's what you're getting rid of shifty shifty and all we're looking for is just that these lines the inside and the outside lines are where you want them to be if you need to change the size just go to your bracket key brackets are next to the P P key 50 okay so what I'm looking at I still kind of like it there I'm not going to like me today all right let's go shifty just getting rid of that top part okay I think we are good okay he's adorable he is adorable okay so I'm going to select everything next thing I want to do is I want to make sure see if we can do with this let's go all black magic one all black I'm gonna go shift okay give that a whirl I'm gonna unites let's see if anything gets crazy goofy send back before we got too caught up and all I did there was uh chopped out a little bit of the white okay I think we are good let's select everything 2

I might also duplicate at this point every time we duplicate that's just so all my lines are still and I might even do it before I expand by the way but this is where we unite everything and that's usually where we want to come back every so often especially if like we want to modify the the paths of the stroke lines or anything like that okay let's select it done live paint make now I did give you the goldfish palette so these should be ready to go so just file place and then use your magic wand or take that back here your eyedropper and all we're doing is our flat color to start with flat flat flat actually I think this one was orange orange that's orange it's brown and that guy's black okay looks good come back expand it okay next thing we want to do is we are gonna select everything ungroup just keep clicking ungroup until it is actually on group usually three is the magic number nope not today there we go okay so with this this is going to be our flat color what I'm then gonna do is duplicate that color lock that guy out this is going to be our tints in shade so let's zoom in and this is where we're going to start having some fun so I'm going to use my knife tool and this is just hey where do I think some different values would go now whenever I'm using my little knife tool first thing I wanna do is select the object come back over and I want to go all the way through it and so this is what we're able to do now I can come back and just change up that color so I should have some other ones where I can combat and just switch up the color a little bit what else did I get to the it's to this guy nice and I just want us nice smooth and I'm going to go right just so I hopefully get it now these will look a little bit extreme for right now these will all soften out after we put our gradients on okay let's select the whites just come in come in yeah we settle with that one now I miss this little guy I'm gonna just come back with the blob brush hopefully I can just fill that in and everyone's a happy camper Oh too easy okay I say flat color is good okay I'd like it now that's our flat color I'm gonna take this one and I'm going to duplicate out flat color again and drag that right above it so I'm gonna double click that and this is gonna be our gradient later so I'll lock out the other two and the reason why we have that is so we don't have to worry it's gonna be a big gradient all the way across okay so I think this first one is gonna be a linear one and I think we had goldfish color and then orange on this orange let's start with 50 and see want to be real are now I still say 50 okay that looks pretty good I'm going to come back over now I'm going to click on my gradient just bring that up that looks good and actually I say you even go yellow with that let's go 50 okay looks good let's select the eyeballs this is going to be a radial one let's select white for the insides and then nice little light blue I say a hundred all right click and this is where we can move it up we're gonna want to drag these down keep in mind you can always kind of slide these out so if I want more white and less blue I can just modify this a little bit or if it's getting too blue I got always come back in and just change the opacity of it too so things I'm looking for I'm looking for it to still be white so I want that highlight to still look white I want it to kind of fade through blue not be super obvious and I still want to be able see my little cash shadow type lines in there - all right I'm just seeing if there's any other little little things only thing I can tell is we miss that guy but let's do the next - ah we missed a couple let's go back I'll take that back I think we have flat color give a nice little squiggly okay good clack so in this one I want it to be linear and then our dark brown click our gradient tool make sure the brown is up at the top and their errands I think I do have a darker one in there too I don't know if I'm as big of a fan of it good click I'm with the 3

same one click want to flip that around this one I just want to be a little more subtle okay that actually worked out crowing nice good good good let's select these guys they're gonna be radial okay that looks pretty good I changed that one to 70 okay I think we just need to do our little mouth highlight so I'm going to come back to the pen tool click click drag and I think this one's going to go right along at the lip here and this one's actually right in the middle of the eye you're gonna be able see it so this line you'll be able to see and no it's not going to be blue all right so that one's gonna be linear so that will be white and I think we'll do right around 1890 to start off with and this back color fish color and I also want to drop that down as zero so that's going to go white and then it's going to basically fade out that's what we're looking for okay I don't know what that is so let's get rid of it I've selected gradient tool and this is just playing around with angle and how much do you want it to be shown or how obvious I guess it should stay with the ass that we want okay let's select off this little line that's okay that looks good keep mind if I ever needed to modify the lines I always come in with my direct selection tool okay that looks pretty good all right pen tool and I click through here click all the way over here this one I'm going to come right through right under the lip see if we can get it in one big one I might even add add one right here the idea on keeping it right through this is I can almost make it look like a lip so I can kind of get some extra little features in there get mind you can always just if you like a flat color you could always stop there too so for this one I instead of doing the white I'm going to do the dark one so I'm going to stay 80% I think that one's still fish color looks good click on our gradient and all I'm really doing is how dark do I wanna how I so the more I do this the more obvious it is the more I kind of have it in the middle and we're so delighted one I want you to be able to see it but I don't want it to be crazy obvious yeah we could proudly go a little more do one little last thing before we call it a day here all right I say that's pretty good so last little bit is back to this flat color layer what I might do is just use our magic wand tool come back in grab all my black copy let's just lock out all these guys and then let's just paste in France what's in that there we go I'm just seeing anything else mostly we're pretty good so a lot of this would just be like fine-tuning how obvious do I want things so if I'm looking at the gradients keep mine I can always come back through I can always mess them so if I want them to be more obvious less obvious I can always come in and mess around with those ok I think we're good so at this point I would save save save next little thing I would do is you can just grab all of it so if you were bringing this over just unlock the things anything you're bringing over to your shark you would just select all those and then basically just bring them right on over into your shark lair so if I said file open recent and there's our shark least it should be and then I just plopped it right on it so there's our cute little guy alright guys well hopefully you enjoyed a little fish demo if you are bringing it over and hopefully you guys had some fun with the shark as well as a little security cat or the scaredy goldfish and if you guys are like in these videos make sure you guys are subscribing that keeps me aware that you guys like them and you do want me to keep posting those for non classroom students that just makes it public for everybody else so you guys can be filing along either at home or in your classrooms so thanks for spending time with us and look forward to seeing you on the next video 4
