Mandy s Star Page 5 Sewing the Full Blocks 1. Sew (1) A 2-1/2 square to either side of (1) Flying Geese Unit to make Row 1. 2. Repeat Step 1 with (1) matching Flying Geese Unit and (2) A 2-1/2 squares to make Row 3. 3. Sew (1) matching Flying Geese Unit to either side of (1) matching 4-1/2 square to make Row 2. 4. Sew Rows 1-3 together to complete (1) Full Block. Square to 8-1/2. 5. Repeat Steps 1-4 with (4) matching Flying Geese Units, (4) A 2-1/2 squares, and (1) matching 4-1/2 square to make (50) Full Blocks. Sewing the Half Blocks 1. Sew (1) A 2-1/2 square to either side of (1) Flying Geese Unit to make Row 1. 2. Sew (1) matching Flying Geese Unit to (1) matching 4-1/2 square to make Row 2. 3. Assembling the Quilt Center 1. Using the Quilt Assembly diagram, arrange Full Blocks, Half Blocks, sashing rectangles, cornerstones, and (4) A corner setting triangles into diagonal rows. 2. Sew the rows and remaining corner setting triangles together to complete Quilt Center. Trim the quilt 1/4 past the center of Half Blocks. Quilt Center should measure 65-1/2 x 78-1/2. Quilt Assembly 1. Measure down Quilt Center and trim (2) E Border #1 strips to this length. Sew to sides of Quilt Center. Measure across Quilt Center and trim (2) E Border #1 strips to this width and sew to top and bottom of Quilt Center. Quilt should measure 68 x 81. 2. Repeat Step 1 to measure, trim and sew (2) C Border #2 strips to the sides and (2) C Border #2 strips to the top and bottom of quilt. Quilt should measure 73 x 86. 3. Repeat Step 1 to measure, trim and sew (2) B Border #3 strips to the sides and (2) B Border #3 strips to the top and bottom of quilt. Quilt should measure 81 x 94. 4. Layer backing, batting, and the quilt top. 5. Baste, then quilt as desired. Bind.
