Dear Parents, Summer Vacation is a welcome break break from fixed schedules, rules and regulations of the school. It s time to enjoy and relax, but, it s also the time when the children are forced to spend a lot of time indoors and it becomes challenging to keep their little minds busy. Keeping this in mind, we have planned the activities that will keep the child engaged, help channelise their energy and at the same time improve their concentration and promote independent learning. Kindly help and guide your child in completing the work. Please label all the items clearly with name and class of the child. The holiday homework should be sent to school only when asked for. A circular would be sent for the same. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAVE FUN WITH YOUR LITTLE ONE a. Help your child to be more independent by allowing him/her to do the following: 1. Buttoning and unbuttoning the shirt. 2. Learning to wear socks. 3. Laying the table. 4. Clearing the working area after completing the activity. b. Good manners and good habits should be practised until they become a habit 1. Encourage the child to use four magical words Please, Sorry, Thank You and Excuse me in day to day conversations. 2. Teach the child to greet the guests by wishing them. c. Fun with reading and story narration: 1. Allow your child to browse through the books and children s magazine with colourful pictures and describe the pictures to you. Encourage him/her to converse in English. This will enhance his/her vocabulary and develop communication skills. 2. Read out a short story to your child everyday.

Little Hands at work Record a video of your child doing these creative activities in a CD and send it to school along with the Holidays Homework. f. Make your child join Summer camp during the summer holidays. I can do it myself.. a. For the rainy day Create a 3D picture of an umbrella 1. A3 size blue sheet as base 2. Glue to paste Make 4 cutouts of semicircle of different coloured pastel sheets and fold them in half. Then paste the folded parts to make an umbrella. Paste a stick on the A3 size sheet under the umbrella as shown in the picture. Cut clouds and droplets of water and paste them on the base to show rain. Your umbrella is ready. b. The trees in autumn Materials Required- 1. Cutouts of yellow and brown leaves 2. Brown thick sheet
Cut three trunks of trees using thick brown sheet. Fold them in half, paste the three tree trunks together. Paste brown and yellow leaves on the branches to give an effect of autumn. c. Make a snowman Materials required 1. Wiggly eyes 2. White plastic ball 3. Ice cream Tubs/ white disposable containers (Minimum 6 ) 4. Some cloth to make muffler and cap 5. Black small bindis 6. Buttons for decoration Make a snowman by pasting white plastic ball on the bottom side of thermocol glass. Make a muffler and cap with cloth. Paste wiggly eyes on its face. Use triangle cutout of paper to make its nose and paste some bindis to make its mouth. Decorate the snowman with buttons.
d. Make a spiral book or flip chart using pictures of different seasons in India for 12 months (Size A3 sheets). You can use an old calendar. e. Make a folder using chart paper and decorative material related to seasons. Sample given. Use your own ideas to make a folder and send the child s holiday worksheets in the folder. Make the base of the folder for your child and let your child work/stick pictures /draw on it to show different seasons. Kindly take the coloured print out of the worksheets.
