Rotary Club of Hillarys Bulletin #75 23rd May 2016 May is Australian Rotary Health Month District 9455 Urgent reminder - All toiletries, blankets and pillows to PP Joan ASAP to support Vincent's Project for the Homeless of Perth over the cold winter months Thank you! Meeting of 16th May 2016 President Graham Kent welcomed all Rotarians, Guests and Members Guests and visiting Rotarians 70 attendees, including an incredible 24 prospective members!! President Graham Kent, PP Dawn Trudgian and PP David Siddall presented the Rotary Club of Hillarys Showcase 2016 Photos of the evening can be found below and the presentation can be found here: RCHShowcase2016Edited.pdf as well as on the Members Portal under - My Documents - Member Docs. An update on Vincent s Project Life supporting bags filled with essential items for homeless people.

On Friday afternoon at the Whitfords Catholic Primary School hall Linda, Angela Siddall, our exchange student Martin, Dawn and Jeff were all in awe at the committed energies of around 50 students, including a contingent of their peers from St Stephen s school. With care and production line precision they filled 1000 bags containing a blanket, towel, face washer, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream(men ), razors, toothpaste, toothbrush in a container, bar of soap in a container, hair brush or comb, pack of tissues, poncho, notebook & pen ( in a plastic bag), tampons & pads (ladies) & a bottle of water. The completed bags were then checked by us and other teachers/parents present. Tags were attached to the bags letting the recipient know that the gift came from people who care. Pink ribbons identified the ladies bags. The homeless people of Perth are truly blessed to have Vincent in their corner. He is a truly remarkable human being who lives a life of service above self. Vincent s selfless devotion is something we could all aspire to emulate to help people less fortunate than ourselves. A message from Linda: Saturday 21st May a special project was organised by the Hillarys Rotaract group, with some help from our club Rotarians. The project was to replace the thread bare carpet with this lovely Vinyl, for an MS sufferer Jose. What great

team work, after a couple of minor hitches. All ready to go for our very own Rotarian Peter Henson to come and lay the Vinyl. (Can I also add, very, very short notice, (due to circumstances). So Service above self certainly was the Motto. Including our lovely friend of Rotary (Lisa's) husband (Hughie) I managed to get him on board at last minute. So many, many, many thanks, Peter & Hughie (Hughie is looking a bit lost for words), as his lovely wife, Lisa, is away in Paris visiting their daughter Rosemary for three & a half weeks. Hughie told me four weeks by date!!!!!!!! I think she maybe was trying to soften the blow, of being on his own, with Son Daniel (she spoils them rotten). We had lots of fun, with Hughie (he has a great sense of humour, and knows we are only joking, about being spoilt rotten). We did try our best, before Lisa left, to find him Board & Lodgings, but unfortunately those we asked, didn't do any cooking!!!!!! So he decided to stay home and FADE away, with lack of his good wifes cooking and not bothering to see what meals she did leave in the Freezer. Domino's he tells me have been doing the cooking!!!!!!!!!!!! No, seriously, A great team effort, sorry some had to leave before the final photo with Jose and his lovely new bedroom floor covering, was taken District Information Link to District 9455's Strategic Plan for 2016/17 - http://www.rotarydistrict9455.org.au/news/15236/district- 9455-strategic-plan-2014-17 Upcoming Duty Rosters 23-5-2016 Duty Roster Duty Name RCH Cashier Dilo Defonseka RCH Sergeant Giles McCaw RCH Duty Peter Mckenzie RCH Host Damian Martin RCH Rotary Pledge Dawn Trudgian RCH Fines Stuart Hyde RCH Introduction Terry Ambler RCH Vote of Thanks Nola Andrews 30-5-2016 Duty Roster Duty Name RCH Cashier Dilo Defonseka RCH Sergeant Jeffrey Trudgian RCH Duty Chris Rees RCH Host Peter Mckenzie RCH Rotary Pledge Damian Martin RCH Fines Dawn Trudgian RCH Introduction Stuart Hyde RCH Vote of Thanks Terry Ambler Remember - You can view YOUR duty roster by logging into the Members Portal and clicking My Roster.
