Index Organizor s vision Campaign rules and practical info Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Time schedule Allowed lists for Aroscon 2018 Maps of the situation (extra material for inspiration)

Organizor s vision The battle of St. Lô at Aroscon 2018 is organized by Morten Schmidt whom has organized all previous 3 FoW campaigns for Aroscon. I have a clear wish that Aroscon continues to be Denmarks most friendly tournaments and at the same time a very historically driven event which the players have a deciding influence on the overall campaign outcome. The concept is a simple mix of 1v1 games and overall campaign objectives. When playing at Aroscon, you can expect a mix of enjoyable standard 1v1 games and historical aspects in the terrain, lists and campaign objectives. The result is a hybrid concept which we call Towns and Crossroads. This is the second event with Towns and Crossroads. The concept is simple for your convenience. The campaign is founded in a historical battle, this time St.Lô. Based on reasearch and operational maps we create a campaign concept which suits the event. This time, you will have the assignment of either taking or defending the city of St. Lô and its roads and hills. We will avoid changing the core rules of the game and will avert from interfering with the game s balance. You can expect 1v1 with 1750pts on each side. Instead the campaign will add a sense of team spirit on the larger level.

Campaing rules Point size: 1750pts per player, more formations are allowed The allowed companies and formations are listed in this document Time schedule: See below. Lists: Are to be made based on formations from the listed companies later in this document. We can only emphasize the importance of the historical accuracy of the event. Think about where you presume your force would have fought in the battle of St. Lô and create a list from that idea. There was a clear majority of infantry divisions in the area of operations and we hope to see this represented. Campaign play: The whole campaign play for the weekend is not set yet. But you can expect that you will find individual games that will have an effect on the overall campaign both counting wins/losses, victory points and campaign objectives. Your wins and losses will have an effect on the outcome of the offensive. Changes and clarifications for the campaign play can be expected to be posted in our facebook group. Terrain: The area around St. Lô had it all. Expect hilly ridges, bocages, fiels, rivers, villages, and of course the ruined city of St. Lô. History: The history will be told throughout the event and you are partaker in history and will be responsible for the success of the operation. Because we are having this historical focus we advise all players to keep the games fun and enjoyable.

Practical info Price: 330DKK (44 ) Includes: sleep over and bath facilities (remember to bring something to sleep on and in) There are no beds! Includes dinner Saturday evening not lunch either days, but can be purchased at the venue cafeteria. Dates: 12th -13th of May 2018 It is possible to arrive Friday the 11th of May and overnight to Saturday. Venue address: Aarhus Firmasport Paludan-Müllers Vej 110 8200 Aarhus N Denmark Timeschedule: See the following pages Other activities: There will also be a free of charge hobby lounge for wargamers who enjoys the painting side of the wargaming hobby rather than the gaming part.

FAQ Question I am allowed to field multiple formations? What is meant by historical lists? How should I make my lists historical? When is my list too powerful? Im in doubt of my list, can i contact anyone and ask questions? Can I get the ticket refunded? What can I do if I can only participate one of the two days? Answer Yes you are allowed to field multiple formations in your army list. Preferably from the same division or area that your division is in. You can also mix something that would make sense, such as a US Rifle company a US armoured recon company. By already restricting the allowed formations to those mentioned later in this document, the event will already be historical and you don t have to worry too much about that. By historical, we mean don t ruin the game. Dont bring 9 UK churchills in an American offensive for example. But instead look at the historical divisions and use that as a starting point. Is your list representing 2. US INF who had the job of taking hill 192? Then make something that would resemble an assault force of infantry and tanks. Or do you want to be the counter attacking panzer lehr? Then create an interesting gepanzerte list. Remember that you are supposed to have fun with the list that you are fielding but it is also a place to try something different. That is a very subjective question and likewise with the answer. If you keep that above mentioned answer in mind then you should keep the power level at a correct level. Don t make a sucky list. Make a list with a purpose (attack, combined attack, defense etc.) Yes, you can mail the organizor at flamesofwar@aroscon.dk Otherwise, you can have a discussion with your friends and gaming buddies what they thinkg. In the end it your list. Do what you find fun. No but we will help you find a subsitute player who can buy the ticket from you. Remember to notify the organizor. You are free to share your ticket with another player. Buy 1 ticket on the website and notify the organizor on flamesofwar@aroscon.dk. Both players must play on the same side (axis or allies).

Western flank Panzer Lehr. (remnants) German companies and their historical positions Panzer lehr had been hit hard in their fighting against the British. A recent transfer has pitted them against the US 30. I.D. 901. and 902. Panzer grenadier regiments had the assingment of holding the western flank and relieving the crumbling grenadier battlegroups. They will be counter attacking the sector the 10th and 11th july, failling to retake Ie Desert. Kentner and was only the size of a battalion. However it gained fame for fighting almost to the last man in the defence of St. Lô. This is represented by a F/V SS company. Hill 192 and the eastern flank 3. Falschirmjaeger. The fallschirmjaegers were the perfect pick for the defence of hill 192 (the tallest hill in the area), Martinville Ridge and the Eastern flank. Their assignment was to hold the hilly terrain which gave the LOS advantage for artillery fire missions and to hold the highway to Bayeux. They held the terrain and made it costly for the US in the early attacks in June, before the battle of St. Lô began. The area fell into allied hands the 11-13th of july. 2. Panzer div. The elements at the battle of St. Lô were often supported by either tank or sturmgeschutz units all over the front. Which is why we are allowing the 2nd panzer units to be fielded. The 2nd Panzer div. Was located on the Eastern flank of the 3rd parachute divisio.
