CREAMS Cutting Fabric Linen Tonal 900-. Cut "x" background square for center applique. Cut "xwof strips Cut strips on fold to make "x" strips for half square triangles. Cut 9 ½"xWOF strips for flying geese units Subcut ½"x½" squares Fabric Blue and White Dot 9-. Cut 9 ½"xWOF strips for flying geese units and borders Subcut ½"x½" border strips ½"x0½" border strips 8 ½"x½" rectangles. Cut "xwof strips Cut strips on fold to make "x" strips for half square triangles Fabric Linen Floral 90-. Cut ⅜"x⅜" squares. Cut once diagonally for center corners Fabric Dark Pink Stripe 0-8. Cut 8 "xwof strips for center border Trim strips to measure "x". Cut 8 ½"xWOF strips for final border. Cut "xwof strip Subcut "x" squares for pieced corner blocks. Use remaining fabric for bias binding Fabric Linen Basket Weave 90-. Cut 8½"x8½" squares for border corner squares Fabric Aqua Paisley 90-. Cut 8 "xwof strips for outer border Trim strips to measure "x" From remainder of the above strips cut: ½"x½" squares for corner squares and ½"x" rectangles "x" rectangles. Cut ½"xWOF strip for corner squares Subcut 8 ½"x½" squares Construction APPLIQUE Use the enclosed templates and your favorite applique method to applique the center basket and flowers. (Note: Center block is on point.) When finished, press on wrong side of appliqued block. Center applique work and trim completed center block to measure 8½"x8½". HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES 0 total For ease of piecing, we suggest using triangle papers (" finished) to make half square triangle units.. Pin a Fabric # (blue dot) "x" strip and a Fabric # (linen tonal) "x" strip right sides together. Then pin triangle paper to matched pair.
Construction cont.. Stitch on dotted lines and cut on solid lines to make 8 half square triangle units.. Repeat with four more strip pairs. Make a total of 0 half square triangle units. Make strips with half square triangle units.. Make strips with half square triangle units.. Make strips with 0 half square trinagle units.. Make strips with 0 half square triangle units plus a ½"x½" linen squares on opposite ends. CORNER BORDER BLOCKS total Border # Border # Border # Border # Make of each border PIECED CORNER FOR BORDER BLOCK. Join "x" Fabric# (dark pink stripe) square to end of "x" Fabric # (aqua paisley) rectangle. Press.. Add "x½ Fabric # rectangle to side of pieced strip. Press. Block should measure ½"x½". Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of pieced block. Note: diagonal line should not go through pink square. See diagram. Make blocks. + = + = Make and mark blocks Block should measure ½"x½" with seams SQUARE IN A SQUARE FOR BORDER BLOCK Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of ½"x½" Fabric # squares.. With right sides together, align edges of 8½"x8½" Fabric # (linen basket weave) with ½"x½" Fabric # square. Stitch on marked line.. Cut away the middle fabric layer, leaving a ¼" seam allowance. Press.. Repeat Steps & for two remaining ½"x½" Fabric # squares. Press.. Add the pieced corner block to the th corner. Make sure the pink striped corner square aligns with the corner of the larger block. Press.. Add applique to complete Corner Border Block.. Repeat steps above to make Corner Border Block. Block should measure 8½"x8½" with seams. Cut away the middle fabric layer Cut away the middle fabric layer Make Border Corner Blocks Block should measure 8½"x8½" with seams
Assemble Corner Block cont.. Align pink corner of pieced corner square with pink border strip and add pieced corner block to ends of border units. See illustration.. Add remaining border unit to short side of Fabric # triangles. See illustration. Press toward pink stripe. Repeat. Make. Step Step Make. Then add border strips from Step to remaining sides of large triangles. Note: the large border strips will be longer than the large triangles. Fabric # Triangle Make. Using a long rotary ruler, align line on ruler with outer edge of border and the cutting edge of the ruler with the long edge of the large triangle to trim triangle/border units. Step Step line Rotary Ruler Align edge of ruler and edge of triangle Using a long rotary ruler, align line on ruler with outer edge of border and the cutting edge of the ruler with the long edge of the large triangle to trim triangle/border units. ADD LARGE TRIANGLE/BORDER UNITS TO CENTER BLOCK. Align center of triangle/border unit and center of Center Block. Pin. Stitch border units to opposite sides of center. Press toward center block. Repeat with remaining border units. Trim away excess border strip leaving a ¼" seam allowance. Press toward center block. Quilt top should measure 8½"x8½" with seams. Match Centers & Pin Match Centers & Pin Quilt top should measure 8½"x8½" with seams
Flying Geese Border Units Make 8. To make flying geese units, draw a diagonal pencil line, from corner to corner, on the wrong side of Fabric # squares (½"x ½"). With right sides together, place a marked square on one corner of a Fabric # rectangle (½"x ½") match corners. Note the direction of the drawn line. Stitch a thread s width beside the drawn line on the corner side. Press the smaller square corner back to match the outside corner. Trim away the middle fabric leaving a ¼" seam. Flying Geese Unit Make 8. Repeat same method with a Seam Line second Fabric # square on Trim Line the opposite end of the Fabric # rectangle. Assemble Quilt Top ASSEMBLE QUILT CENTER BLOCK ½"x½". Sew the Border # half square triangle borders to opposite sides of the appliqued center square. Center square should measure 8½"x8½". Press toward the center square.. Add the Border # half square triangle borders to the remaining sides of the center. Press toward the center square. Center Square should measure ½"x½" with seams.. Add the ½"x½" Fabric # border strips to opposite sides of center block. Press toward the blue dot fabric. ½"x0½" Border # Border # Border # ½"x½" Border # ½"x0½". Add the ½"x0½" Fabric # border strips to remaining sides of center block. Press toward the blue dot fabric. Border #. Add the Border # half square triangle borders to opposite sides of the center square. Press toward the blue dot fabric.. Add the Border # half square triangle borders to remaining sides of the center square. Press toward the blue dot fabric. Center Square should measure 0½"x0½" with seams. ASSEMBLE CORNER TRIANGLE/BORDER UNITS MAKE Border # Border #. Join long sides of Fabric # "x" strip and Fabric # "x" strip. Press toward pink stripe. Repeat. Make 8 border units. Add shorter border strips to opposite sides of quilt top Fabric # to outside. Press.. Add longer border strips to remaining sides. Press. ADD FINAL PINK STRIPED BORDER. Piece 8 ½"xWOF strips together for final border.. Then cut: ½"x½" borders and ½"x½" borders. Add the ½"x½" borders to opposite sides of the quilt top. Press toward the final border.
