Strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated. All seams are n with a 1/4" seam unless otherwise stated. Label all pieces. rom abric A: 1. ut seventeen 4 1/2" strips. Sub-cut into one hundred fifty 4 1/2 squares. 2. ut six 1 1/2 strips for order 1. 3. ut seven 2 1/4 strips for binding. Piecing Instructions: A. lock 1 1. raw a diagonal line on the backs of the one hundred fifty 4 1/2 A squares. 2. Place one 4 1/2 A square, right sides together, on each corner of one 8 1/2 x 12 1/2 Sew along the drawn line. Trim seam to 1/4 and press towards the triangles. lock should measure 8 1/2 x 12 1/2. Quilt Assembly: Refer to Quilt iagram. 1. ollowing the Quilt iagram, place locks 1, 2, 3 and 4 in vertical (up and down) strips. 2. Sew vertical strips together and press seams open to reduce bulk. 3. Sew vertical rows together. Press seams open. orders 4. Sew six 1 1/2 A strips together with diagonal seams. Press seams open. 5. Measure through the vertical center of the quilt and two strips to this length. Match centers and sides, pin and to sides of the quilt. Press to border. 6. Measure through the horizontal center and two strips to this width. Match centers and sides, pin and to top and bottom of quilt. Press to border. 7. Repeat steps 4-6 with seven 4 1/2 strips. inishing: 1. Prepare backing with horizontal seams to measure 66" x 82". Press seam open. 2. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. aste layers together. 3. Quilt as desired. 4. Trim layers even with top. 5. Join seven 2 1/4" A binding strips with diagonal seams. Press seams open. Press strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together to make double-fold binding. Sew binding to quilt using your favorite method. Tip: Lay binding on the quilt before ing to make sure that the binding seams do not meet any of the corners. 6. Make a label and to back of the quilt.
