DreamHack Official rules DreamHack Winter 2010 Infrmatin Turnament frmat The playffs will cntain 15 invited players, 9 qualified players frm Dreamhack n tur 2010 and 8 players qualified thrugh the BYOC turnament at Dreamhack Winter 2010. The Bring Yur Own Cmputer qualificatin (BYOC) will be played in bracket frmat, each match being best f ne (b1) except the final which will be best f three games (b3). The playffs will be divided int tw stages. First a grup stage with eight grups f fur players and then a final bracket. In the grup stage each grup will be played in Rund Rbin frmat, each match being best f ne game (b1). The tw tp players f each grup will mve n t the final bracket. If a grup ends up in a tw way tie, the internal results will decide wh mves n. If a grup ends up in a three way tie, anther rund with the three players will be played, deciding a winner t mve n frm the grup. If the secnd rund f grup play still shws a three way tie, a randm draw will determine the player mving n. The final bracket will be a single eliminatin bracket with each match being best ut f three games (b3). The grand final will be best f five games (b5). Prizes T receive a prize in the turnament, the player must attend the prize ceremny, hand in apprpriate infrmatin and papers t Dreamhack, and agree t be phtgraphed after the prize ceremny. All players must have read and understd these rules befre entering the turnament. Nt understanding r nt knwing the rules, are nt valid excuses fr breaking them. Administratrs Players shuld always address the administratrs in a plite and respectful way. An administratr has the final say in all matters. When the administratr says the wrd is final, the wrd is final and cannt be verruled. Under extreme circumstances administratrs reserve the right t change the rules.
General Rules Server Equipment All games must be played n the Eurpean Battle.net server. All warm up games n the turnament cmputers must be played n Eurpean Battle.net server. N eating is allwed anywhere in the turnament area. Each player is respnsible fr bringing their wn equipment. Equipment prvided n site is a cmputer and a mnitr. N macr functins n keybards/mice are allwed t be used in any turnament games. On arrival, each player has t install any equipment drivers nt the cmputer. Game Preparatins Timekeeping When scheduled, an administratr will tell the player which cmputer t use. N usage f any turnament cmputer is allwed except during warm up games and turnament matches unless authrised by an administratr. Every player will nly get 10 minutes t warm up by the cmputer. Once this time has passed the player must be ready t start playing the turnament match. If a player arrives late his warm up time will be shrtened until the start time f the turnament match. After the match the player has t leave the cmputer t make way fr the next player, unless administratr says different. Every player has t be at the turnament area (r in the apprpriate IRC channel fr BYOC) at least 15 minutes befre the scheduled start f the warm up perid. The starting time f any turnament match is nt flexible, if a player nly arrives t the turnament area five minutes befre the turnament match is suppsed t start, the player will nt get mre than five minutes t warm up. Shuld a player be late (less than 10 minutes) fr the start f a turnament match, the player will frfeit the first game f the match. Shuld the player be mre than 10 minutes late fr the start f a turnament match, the player will frfeit the match. The players are allwed a 5 minute break between the games in a turnament match. Administratrs reserve the right t change these timings if circumstances require it. Discnnects and cmputer failure If a game is interrupted by a cmputer failure and the game is heavily favured t the extent that the game wuld definitely have been wn by ne player an administratr may rule the game in favur f said player. Shuld the game be t clse t call, it will be replayed. Cmplaints Replays Maps If a player wants t make a cmplaint abut a game result, the player has t tell the administratr assigned t the match, befre the next match starts. If a player wants t bject a game result ruled by an administratr, this has t take place befre the next game. After every game, bth players must save the replay f the game. All replays need t be sent in t turnament administratr after the match is finished. Official turnament replay packages will be made, until they are published, n replays frm the turnament are allwed t be shared with the public. The turnament map pl includes the fllwing maps: Lst Temple, Scrap Statin, Delta Quadrant, Metalplis, Shakuras Plateau, Xel'Naga Caverns, Steppes f War. Every turnament game will be played n maps frm the turnament map pl nly. The player starting the map picking prcess will be decided thrugh an administratrs cin flip. Then the picking will wrk as fllws: Best ut f ne: The first player remves tw maps, the secnd player remves tw maps, then remving ne map each. The last map is played. Best ut f three: The first player remves ne map, the secnd player remves ne map, then red the prcedure. The first player picks the first map, the secnd player picks the secnd map. The last map is the deciding map f the match. Best ut f five: The first player remves ne map, the secnd player remves ne map. The first player picks the first map, the secnd player picks the secnd map, then red the prcedure. The last map is the deciding map f the match. BYOC: Set maps fr each rund. Punishments Shuld a player purpsely attempt t sabtage the games, anther player r an administratr in any way, the player will be disqualified. Bad behaviur twards ther players, administratrs r the audience may result in a disqualificatin.
In game rules Chatting Game settings N excessive chatting is allwed in the game. If the need t chat ccurs the players must be straight t the pint and plite. Ideally the nly chat in each game will be at start up and when a player surrenders the game. N chat is ever permitted frm a player t an utside party during a turnament match, r frm an utside party t the player, unless the utside party is an administratr. After 30 secnds, typing GG in the game means that the player surrenders, and the ppnent wins. After it is typed the player must leave the game immediately. Each game must be played in Faster mde. Every player must set their nline status t Busy. Every player must turn ff ntificatins. Every player must use full screen. Bugs and Misuse N abuse f bugs is allwed in any turnament match. N player is allwed t lk at the ppsite player at any time during a turnament match. Observers and Streaming Pausing Racepicking Fr streamed games, the tw team clurs must be Red and Blue. If the players cannt agree n wh gets which clur, an administratr will randmly pick fr them. N bservers are allwed in any turnament games, except fr assigned streamers and administratrs. If a streamer is assigned t a game, the streamer will be the hst. Players may nt watch r listen t any streams f the turnament while playing. If a player must pause the game due t technical difficulties the player must if pssible tell the ppnent abut this befre pausing. After pausing the player must let an administratr knw. If a game is paused withut a reasnable explanatin such as a technical difficulty the game might result in a frfeit. Each player signs up t the turnament with ne set race. If a player wants t change the race befre a match, an administratr must be ntified, and the new race must be played thrughut the whle match. The administratr must be tld at least 30 minutes befre scheduled match start, r as sn as the previus match ends. The administratr will then tell the ppnent. As sn as a player jins r creates a game he is t chse his playing race. Draws and stalemates If a player deliberately plays fr a stalemate, administratrs hld the right t decide the utcme f the game.
If there is a natural stalemate the game will be replayed.
