CSLF-P-2007-xx 07 February 2007 Secretariat Report on CSLF Public Outreach Experts Note by the Secretariat Background At the meeting of the Policy Group in Melbourne CSLF meeting in September 2004, the Secretariat presented a report that recommended that the Policy Group establish a Public Awareness Outreach Task Force whose activities would support, but not supplant, CSLF Members activities in this area. This recommendation was accepted, and the Policy Group created a Public Awareness and Outreach Task Force for this purpose with as lead. That Task Force produced a discussion paper for the Berlin CSLF meeting in September 2005 that, among other things, recommended that the Secretariat compiles a list of public outreach experts based on Members input. These experts should have communications experience and also be able to draw upon the best available objective technical and scientific information about CO2 capture, transport, and storage. They should also have a willingness to assist the CSLF as needed with any public outreach activities involving CO2 capture, transport, and storage, and be willing to dialog as needed with similar public outreach experts of other CSLF Members. The Secretariat requested listings of such experts from all CSLF members, and responses were received from, India, Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The listing of experts is presented in this report. Action Requested The Policy Group is requested to note the report of the CSLF Secretariat on Public Outreach Experts. Conclusions The Policy Group is invited to include in the Minutes of its next meeting that: The Policy Group noted the report of the CSLF Secretariat on Public Outreach Experts.
