of TO LAY OUT YOUR APPLIQUÉ PIECES TIP: Use your favorite fabric marking pen or pencil to mark a spine on your background fabric as shown. Make sure that the markings you make can be removed. With the border going lengthwise from left to right, mark a vertical center line and a horizontal center line. Mark " increments from the vertical center to the end of each side of the border. Trace the template provided (Heather Feather Border Spine) between each pair of vertical lines. Position the appliqué shapes so that the point of each shape rests on the outside edge of the spine.
