Minutes Lions Gate Quilters Guild Annual General Meeting February 23, 2016 Location: St. Andrew s and St. Stephen s Church 27 th & Chesterfield, North Vancouver, B.C. President: Bena Luxton Secretary: Paulette Morton 1. PRESIDENT S WELCOME AND OPENING REMARKS The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Bena explained the order of events business including motions, followed by elections, acknowledgements and then our evening s program. Bena Luxton requested a MOTION from the floor to approve the minutes of the 2015 AGM held on February 24 th as distributed by our Newspaper Editor on February 11, 2016. Moved by Suzanne Kimm- Jones. Seconded by Rose Moore. CARRIED. 2. ANNOUNCEMENTS There was a free table set up with a reminder to take home any items that had been brought with you. Display table was set up for general quilting information. Library was set up for book returns and borrowing. Show and Tell was cancelled this evening to allow sufficient time for the program after our AGM. 3. CORRESPONDENCE Numerous announcements and brochures were received from other guilds and individuals about shows, workshops and quilting services. Textiles of Interest in Courtney, StashFesh fundraiser for La Conner Quilt Museum Barb Mortell Spring Workshop Series etc. Nanaimo and Victoria Quilt Show Dates. The Nanaimo show running the same weekend as our June show.

4. COMMITTEE REPORTS Will include some MOTIONS. Treasurer Suzanne Patchell Suzanne told us how much she had enjoyed her term as our treasurer. Requested a MOTION from the floor to approve the 2015/16 LGQG Financial Statement as distributed earlier and presented at the February 2016 AGM. Moved by Betty Clark. Seconded by Leslie Forbes. CARRIED. Requested a MOTION from the floor to approve the 2016/17 LGQG Budget as distributed earlier and presented at the February 2016 AGM. Moved by Katherine Morgan. Seconded by Linda Heese. CARRIED. Programs Rita Douglas for Genevieve Tobin March Terry Aske she is a creator of both art and abstract/modern quilts using a variety of techniques. April Judy Villett Prairies to Pacific her projects often include hand dying, painting and several different methods of embellishments. May Jane Cannon June will still be our year end social with a focus on Community Quilts. Workshops Jane Andrew Krista Hennebury s Lone Star Circle workshop was a successful event. No workshops being planned for the spring. Library Sonia Milanez & Joan Gold Showed 6 new books that were purchased for our library. A nice variety of subjects. President Bena Luxton Motion 4 - a request from the floor to make changes to the Lions Gate Quilts Society constitution. To approve under the heading Appendix G, page 2 of the Terms of Reference for the Quilt Show Coordinator to read To exhibit a quilt in the Quilt Show, the exhibitor must be a LGQG member in good standing by March 31 st of the year in which the quilt show is held. Moved by Dianne Ritter. Seconded by Carol Piercy. CARRIED

Community Quilts Anita Jones-Gould Reminder to all that our Community Quilts weekend is coming up next weekend on March 3rd, 4 th and 5 th at this location. Anita put out a request for two volunteers to make coffee and tea Friday and Saturday. MOTION requested from the floor to approve the 2015/16 LGQG Community Quilts Financial Statement as earlier distributed and presented at the February 2016 AGM. Moved by Dorothy Porter. Seconded by Barb Brawn. CARRIED. Motion requested from the floor to approve the 2016/17 Community Quilts Budget as earlier distributed and presented at the February 2016 AGM. Moved by Anne Read. Seconded by Edna Simpson. CARRIED Membership Joan Herrin 69 guild members signed in and 2 guests. Our membership cards including June show tickets will be available next month for distribution. Reminded us that next month is the last meeting to register for the quilt show. The winners of this evening s door prize were: Karen Marshall and Marsha MacKay. Quilt Show & Cops Day Dianne Ritter & Barbara Brawn 65 quilt registrations have been received. Reminder that the deadline is March 31 st (by mail) or ideally our March 22 nd meeting. Volunteer forms are also due at the March 22 nd meeting. Inventory sheets are required for the boutique. Krista will bring. Barbara reminded us that registration forms to have a photo taped to back and no staples used. Note instruction on smaller sleeves. Photos of quilts can be taken at next month s meeting. She will arrive to do so around 6:45. Cops Day March 12 th is the 10 year anniversary of this event that has always been a great place to share ideas and ask for input. Cake, balloons and door prizes will be part of this Cops day. 5. Elections Becky West Member at Large - Volunteers have stepped forward for 6 of the 6 executive positions. - Becky asked for a call for nominations 3 times for each position. - The following were declared elected by acclamation: Vice President Suzanne Patchell Treasurer Sue Forshaw Librarian Paula Bohan (absent) Member-at-Large Sonia Milanez

ADJOURNMENT: MOTION Bena Luxton requested a MOTION from the floor to adjourn the business portion of the 2016 Annual General Meeting. Moved by Kate Schiebler. Seconded by Anita Jones-Gould. CARRIED. 6. Acknowledgements: Bena Luxton - Acknowledgements and thank you to outgoing Executive members for serving on the LGQG Executive over the past several years. They are and were presented with a coffee shop gift card. 7. Program: The Singing Quilter Cathy Miller and John Bunge entertained us with their quilting folk songs. Several of her quilts were sewn with hex s (one with 1,500 ¼ pieces). The 50/50 total was $ 88.00 with Peggy Dyer the winner of $ 44.00.
