April 21, 2015 Coral Gables Museum Contact: Christine Rupp 305.603.8067 Coral Gables Museum Announces Photo Contest Jurors and Photo Entry Deadline The Coral Gables Museum is excited to announce the three professional jurors selected for the 2015 Capture Coral Gables Photography Contest and Exhibit. This dynamic team of jurors will review all photographic entries, determine the finalists that will be invited to participate in the Museum s summertime exhibit, and select the Juror s Choice Award a prestigious honor that will result in the opportunity to present a solo exhibit of works at the Museum during Gallery Night. The jurors were invited based upon their excellent credentials, accolades and professional contributions to the world of photography as well as their connection to this year s Contest categories: Portraiture, Street Photography, Nature/Landscape, Abstract, Culinary Arts and Digital Photo Manipulation. The 2015 Jurors are: MAGGIE STEBER - Photographer Maggie Steber has worked in 64 countries focusing on humanitarian, cultural, and social stories. Steber has served as a Newsweek Magazine contract photographer and as the Asst. Managing Editor of Photography and Features at The Miami Herald, overseeing staff projects that won the paper a Pulitzer and two finalist recognition. Her work is included in the Library of Congress, The Richter Library and in private collections. Clients include National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, AARP, The Guardian, and Geo Magazine among others. Her honors include the Leica Medal of Excellence, World Press Photo Foundation, the Overseas Press Club, Pictures of the Year, the Medal of Honor for Distinguished Service to Journalism from the University of Missouri, the Alicia Patterson and Ernst Haas Grants, and a Knight Foundation grant for the New American Newspaper project. After attending the Savannah College of Art & Design, John received his B.F.A. in photography. It was here where John studied under several exceptional professors, and realized his passion for large format photography. Upon graduation, John lived and worked in the Big Cypress National Preserve, where he assisted one of America s greatest landscape photographers Clyde Butcher. Now living in Miami, John returns to the Bahamas quite often to capture on film the unique landscape of the Islands. His work has been exhibited in the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, and throughout the Bahamas and United States. John s work belongs to a growing list of collectors who share a vision of the natural beauty of these pristine, and brilliant islands.

Now in its fourth year, Capture Coral Gables is a skill- based photography contest open to teens and adults from amateur to professionals and it s FREE to enter. The objective of this contest is to invite the public to explore and examine the City of Coral Gables through a photographic lens, as well as to recognize local talent. An Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 29 th 2014 at 11:00am, to distribute award prize packages to 14 talented photographers. Prizes consist of products and gift cards from local businesses and restaurants.
