NVISION 9000: the most advanced control system Fully redundant controllers The NVISION 9000 control system is designed from the ground up for the highest level of robustness for critical environments, with redundant power supplies, and speed controlled fans. For the highest level of redundancy, a second controller can be used as a mirror back-up. Dynamic updates: no need for restarts Another aspect of the system s resilience is its dynamic configuration capability. The system can be reconfigured for new workflows, without a requirement to re-start the system or take it offline. The process of reconfiguration is speeded by the design of the SQL database which avoids duplication of data entry. NO RESTARTS Unprecedented, facility wide integration NVISION routers provide exceptional integration across a facility, including with multi-viewers, signal processors, master control switchers and production switchers. This streamlines facility hardware and lowers costs, and can also deliver enhanced operator productivity from improved control systems (see page 324). CENTRALIZED DISTRIBUTED Flexible, versatile architecture NVISION routers offer outstanding control flexibility, and can be configured for centralized or distributed operations. In essence, the system can be readily adapted for different workflows and administration requirements. Advanced tie-line management The system can be configured for very large systems, with up to 400 control panels and up to 250 routers per system controller. Complex interactions with multiple routers can be configured using advanced multi-hop, tie-line management abilities (see page 328). 336

Instant recall of system snapshots To improve productivity in production control rooms, the controllers allow saving and recalling of system snapshots, which capture the current NVISION 9000 configuration, as well as the current state of the crosspoint image in all the routers in the system. This allows an operator to save configurations for specific productions, and then instantly re-load them when they are required for the next production. Advanced tally management The NVISION 9000 controller offers advanced tally management with production switchers and monitor wall systems in control rooms. The system also provides rich integration with third party tally controllers (see page 332). VTR 01 VTR 01 Easier transition to 3Gbps/HD from legacy routing With highly effective bridging with legacy third party routers, the NVISION controller allows a simpler transition to 3Gbps/HD. A phased move to 3Gbps/HD can be made, with minimal disruption and cost, by first controlling an NVISION router with an existing third party controller. Subsequently, the facility can move to a more advanced NVISION control system (see page 335). Advanced re-legendable NVISION control panels A wide array of control panels is available to address the workflow requirements of different operator positions, including soft panels, hard panels, and new re-legendable LCD panels. These panels can all be mixed and matched to suit individual station requirements (see page 338). Integration with Compact router system The highly space and cost efficient NVISION Compact routers can be controlled by the NVISION 9000 controller. This brings more advanced control options to the NVISION Compact routers range, and allows full integration of systems comprising NVISION Compact routers and other NVISION routers (see page 401). www.miranda.com/nvision 9000 337

Using LCD relegendable router control panels The NVISION re-legendable panels feature a root structure that speeds navigation through a specific category. In this example, the button labelled VTR is a category button, and this quickly allows an operator to see all the sources that have been placed in the category VTR. This process can then be repeated to quickly drill down to any page of sources, destinations or functions in the panels configuration. The NV9642 panel is truly multi-mode. It can be a traditional button per source, or a full XY panel that utilizes source and destination selection via categories. Both approaches can be configured on the panel at the same time, as show below: Source/destination categories (green for source, amber for destination) to allow for full XY routing Sources/destinations buttons: simply choose your destination, then your desired source, and take www.miranda.com/nvision 9000 339

NVISION 9000: system controllers comparison The NVISION range offers a choice of system controllers for different applications and levels of control complexity. The NVISION 9000 system controller is the most advanced and resilient in the range, and the NVISION 915 system controller represents a simpler, entry level system for smaller control environments. NVISION 9000 router controller The NVISION 9000 router controller uses a standard hardware platform and an embedded operating system to leverage ongoing advancements in CPU, memory, and peripheral technology. It can support up to 400 control panels and up to 250 routers per system controller (16384 destinations maximum), and the system can be expanded by adding further router controllers. The NVISION 9000 router controller is equipped with redundant power supplies, speed controlled fans, a solid state hard drive, as well as six NIC connections to support system requirements. It ships with all software preloaded, including drivers, to control any NVISION router. Optional software is available to control Philips/BTS, Utah Scientific, GVG, Horizon, Snell (Pro-Bel), Pesa, Sony, ISIS, Datatek or Encore routers, and third party interfaces are available for SNMP, Snell (Pro-Bel), Jupiter, and SMS-MCPU Bridge. Other core system options include tie-line management software and remote diagnostics software. The NVISION 9000 system controller is available is two versions: ES9060 single system controller: the lowest-cost system, which uses a 2RU rack mount system controller. ES9065 dual system controller: this system uses a pair of 2RU system controllers for full hardware redundancy. With both controllers running, one acts as a primary, and the second as a backup. Both are kept updated with current router status at all times. NVISION 915 router controller The entry-level NVISION 915 router controller offers a flexible and easy-touse configuration editor, a scalable architecture, and competitive pricing. It s ideal for controlling the NVISION 5128 Mid-sized, multi-format router and the Compact routers. It can support up to 24 control panels and up to four NVISION routers, with control of up to 16 physical and 32 virtual levels. A facility with an NVISION 915 system controller can easily expand its control system by upgrading to a NVISION 9000 controller. This transition does not require new router control panels, and the existing system configuration can be preserved. 346

NVISION ROUTER CONTROL ORDERING INFORMATION The NVISION 9000 control system is an advanced, standard platform based system for routing switcher control. Different configurations of the System Controller are available to address a broad range of requirements with regards to features, function and redundancy. ES9060 uses a single 2RU System Controller, ES9065 uses a pair of 2RU system controllers to offer full redundancy. ES9067 includes a pair of System Controllers, RS-485 port cards, NV9700 Remote Diagnostic and Changeover panel, as well as all cables required to connect the included components together. All system controllers are rack mounted and come with redundant power supplies and a minimum of 6 NICs. Customers must supply all monitors, keyboards or mice to be connected to the System Controller platforms.
