Lay out the blocks in (5) rows of (4) blocks each as shown in the Quilt Layout on page 7, paying careful attention to the block orientation. Place the sashing/ cornerstone pieces and plain sashing strips as shown in the Quilt Layout diagram. 22. Sew the blocks and sashing together in each row, then sew the rows together in order with the sashing/ cornerstones between. 23. Sew together (3) 1 1 2 x WO (3.81cm x WO) abric D strips end to end. Sub-cut (2) 1 1 2 x 58 1 2 (3.81cm x 128.27cm) border strips. Sew (1) strip to each side of the quilt. 24. Sew together (3) 1 1 2 x WO (3.81cm x WO) abric D strips end to end. Sub-cut (2) 1 1 2 x 48 1 2 (3.81cm x 128.27cm) border strips. Sew (1) strip to the top and the other to the bottom of the quilt. inishing 25. Sew together the (6) 2 1 2 x WO (6.35cm x WO) abric binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together. 26. Layer the backing (wrong side up), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim excess batting and backing even with the top after quilting is completed. 27. Leaving an 8 (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12 (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1 4 (.64cm) and press open. inish sewing binding to quilt. 28. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place. Cut (20) 2 1 /2"-wide sections. 6 of 7
