MIDDLE EAST CLEANING TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2016 SCALES NEW HEIGHTS The Middle East Cleaning Technology Week 2016 has continued to make ripples in the cleaning industry since the conception of Clean Middle East Pulire four editions ago. This year, the show held on November 13-15, 2016 - saw a massive turnout of quality visitors seeking newer innovations and technologies. The three events under MECTW 2016 Clean Middle East Pulire, Gulf Laundrex- Linen Care Expo and Gulf Car Wash-Car Care Expo saw over 4,500 quality visitors thronging the halls. The show was inaugurated by HE Butti Saeed Al Ghandi, Second Vice Chairman of Dubai World Trade Centre. This year, Live Demonstrations involved the exhibitors showcasing their latest innovations to a large audience comprising visitors. The three dedicated conferences International Cleaning & Hygiene Conference, Gulf Car Wash-Car Care Conference and Gulf Laundrex- Linen Care Conference saw a full-house of delegates. MECTW was also a platform for an exclusive Roundtable Discussion on Waste Management Challenges in the Middle East: Strategising for Sustainable Development, which was held at the Novotel, Dubai World Trade Centre with several dignitaries from the GCC region and UAE, in participation. The Awards this year were a clean sweep as well. The City Cleaning Awards saw 13 street cleaners from four emirates Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah winning cash prizes and certificates for their excellent work in maintaining the country s streets. The Excellence Awards was an exclusive, glittering ceremony, where 24 winners from the 135 plus nominations that had come in through the year, were awarded for their excellent work.

MECTW 2016 AT A GLANCE 3 International Conferences 3 Dedicated Business Expos 2 Awards Ceremonies 30 Live Demonstrations

KNOWLEDGE-SHARING INITIATIVES The third edition of the International Cleaning & Hygiene Conference was sponsored by Avet, ClaraClean 2.0, and Electrolux Professional. This year, the topics and discussions focused on Innovation. The current trend in the industry shows the gradual adoption of high-tech products, robotics and a shift towards the Internet of Things. At the same, time the Middle East is moving towards more specific training mechanisms, increased understanding of quality vs. cost and gearing up for a clean, green and modern future. The sessions during the conference were a reflection of this! The second edition of the Gulf Laundrex-Linen Care Conference witnessed dynamic discussions, interactive presentations that bridged education and industry excellence. The exclusive sessions were specifically tailored to help the audience become aware of future products and technology, achieving sustainability and how to efficiently manage one s resources. The second edition of the Gulf Car Wash Car Care Conference was held on November 13, 2016. The half-day conference focused on the key themes of innovation and sustainability and once again brought together prominent local and international professionals in the car wash and car care segments and featured expert speakers from the international arena who touched upon the most modern technologies, sustainable solutions available on the international market, auto detailing in the UAE, car care and maintenance in the region, and the opportunities in the region s fast developing car wash and car care market.

CELEBRATING THE HEROES OF THE CLEANING INDUSTRY

WASTE MANAGEMENT ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION Waste & Recycling Middle East magazine organised a roundtable discussion titled Waste Management Challenges in the Middle East Strategising for Sustainable Development on 15th November at the Novotel, Dubai World Trade Centre. This initiative was part of the programmes that were held under the umbrella of Middle East Cleaning Technology Week. The key objective was to initiate a dialogue at the regional level on issues related to waste management, especially considering the sustainability agenda of various countries in the Middle East that aim to achieve their goal of zero waste to landfill in the near future. The forum provided an opportunity to share the current status, challenges, opportunities, and so on, thus contributing to the thought process and helping pave the way for best practices in this sector.

EXHIBITOR TESTIMONIALS Chandan Singh, CEO-UAE, Dhofar Global From the past three years, the market has changed dramatically. MECTW is an amazing platform; I must congratulate the whole team, who has been doing extremely great job over the years. Also, one of the major highlights this year were the live demos. It would be nice to see an exclusive area for sustainable products for next MECTW show. Samit Sanyal, Marketing-Director, Sealed Air Diversey The show this year was much more successful and bigger as compared to the previous years. We re quite satisfied and pleased with the way we have seen the quality of customers coming. Live demos were interesting but instead of having them from first day onwards, they should have been kept only for the second or third day when there s more participation from the customers. Peter Leys, CEO, Intercare There s definitely a need and interest to look for efficiency solutions. Smart solutions are on the rise with the vision of Dubai becoming smart, and there s a definite tendency to be progressing in sustainability. Now, MECTW is becoming more international, which is interesting. We re also drawing people from various countries like Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Live demos work very well; it s a great idea to draw the crowd. The show was excellent for us; we had some important customers here. It would be nice to see a little more focus on healthcare, as this segment has its own challenges. Ahmadaly Fazal, Managing Director, Daitona The hospitality industry mostly is relying on the FM companies, so are client base has also shifted to FM sector now. We have launched three new products this year - Sleek series of dispensers, Roots machines from India and TMB machine especially the vacuums from Italy. The show has come a long way, we have always got very good support from the show and this year we saw some serious visitors. Demos were the most interesting part of the show. Keep improving and we would continue participating in the show.

EXHIBITOR TESTIMONIALS Victor Bastian, Asst. Vice President, Linencraft The laundry sector is increasingly focusing on adopting new and smart technologies and working to improve sustainability, but there is no common platform to share knowledge and showcase developments in the sector. We see MECTW as an ideal stage to share knowledge and latest innovations, that can significantly contribute to enhancing efficiencies that can improve services in the laundry sector." Vincenzo Minarelli, Export Sales Director, Firbimatic Spa We did not participate last year, but what I hear from other participants that there s a big improvement this time in terms of new companies exhibiting and latest innovations at display. It s an interesting show, and we had a positive experience. I am expecting to see more and more companies next year; the show will become a point of interest in the Middle East. Abdulraouf Jijeh, Technical Sales Executive - Seitz Dry Cleaning Chemicals Awareness on environmental issues makes many professional laundries demanding eco-friendly products and in return a lot of chemical suppliers developed green line products. The number of both exhibitors and visitors has grown noticeably in comparison to the last year s show. This is only the second year of the Gulf Laundrex and speaking of last year there was a simple increase of our business as a result of the show. We believe the show will be much bigger next year because it is attracting more local and international participants and hopefully there will be more potential business for us. Roland Fleischmann, Sales Manager, Ghidini Benvenuto SRL Our experience is that people are looking for more automatic professional machines in reduce to save labour and to increase the production. Demos were an interesting way to showcase our products. This year was our first time at the show, so next year we would surely participate in live demos. We had good meetings, people from UAE as well as other countries like Iran, and we will most probably do business with them in the future. The organisers have done a good job, the advertising was good as well.

EXHIBITOR TESTIMONIALS Simone Piwowarczyk, Marketing Manager, Auto Millennium Group Comparing 2016 to the previous year, the car care and auto accessory industry has made great progress in terms of technology and innovation. For next year, we re expecting Gulf Car Wash-Car Care to be an even bigger and more successful show, and we look forward to meeting many interesting exhibitors and visitors. Hussain Dabash, Owner, Menzerna Car Care Our products are made using nanotechnology, and now Menzerna is the leader for all the car polishing products. We do not have filler or silicon in our products, the shining stays for more than one year, without damaging your car, which other products do. We have nanolex for the protection of the car, this technology is called ceramic coating. The ceramic coating will protect your car for more than five years from scratches and promises high gloss, and shine. The exhibition was very nice; people from India, Pakistan, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Syria and Iraq came. Next year, we will bring more innovative products and machinery. Ryan Essenburg, AVW - Tommy Car Wash Systems, President The show for us has been very busy this year. We ve got more interest from customers around Dubai along with outside countries, so we had overall much more traffic this year. The response was very positive; we met people from India and Europe, and made many new contacts. We will certainly be back next year; it s been a great experience. We need support from the government in getting land and constructing the car wash systems. We can deliver much higher and faster standards of car wash here that can encourage the culture of driving clean cars all the time.

VISITOR TESTIMONIALS Joseph Clerison, Soft Service Manager, Berkeley Group I noticed that tremendous response was garnered by the show from the industry. We saw some great innovative machinery as well. Also, a special mention to the award function, which was arranged very nicely, and deserving candidates were selected as winners. Andrea Yoko, Head of Soft Services, Emrill I was there all the three days, and even attended conferences and awards function which was nicely executed. Live demos were very interesting. I really liked a machine called Orbot from Intercare, which we will purchase soon. Stephen Raj, Operations Manager, Arabia Taxi I was happy to me the cleaning products for car wash at the show. The show gave us a good platform to meet new suppliers and understand the working of their products through live demos. Nuwan Perera, Laundry Manager, Address Dubai Mall Hotel I really liked the Gulf Laundrex-Linen Care show, everything was organised so well! I met the key suppliers with regard to the latest technology in textile laundry in a single day. The live demos were good and gave us a good chance to understand the dynamics of the machinery, to physically touch and see how the machinery works. Most of the time, we see machines only on paper, so this show gave us the opportunity to see the machine and make the decision according to its features as well as the size. Ramesh Karri, Laundry Manager, Grosvenor House Dubai It was a fantastic show for the laundry industry; we hardly get to see such exhibitions in the region. We met some nice suppliers, and they showcased the products to us very well. We attended few live demos that were going on at various stalls. We also happen to visit the laundry conference and found it very interesting. Next year, I would like to see more chemical companies participating.
