Here s hoping your Holiday Season was memorable and the New Year holds much health and happiness for you and your family. This is my initial communication as your Commodore for the 2019 season and I am most honored and humbled to lead this great club during the coming year. Your Bridge and Board of Directors are already hard at work planning a great season of activities and club improvements. You will see an expanded entertainment schedule that offers many new and unique activities along with many opportunities for you to become involved with your club. We are developing several projects that will improve our island home during the coming season. All of the initiatives are possible due to the financial support by our membership and the simple reality is that the more members we have the more ability we have to improve our club. Please take the time this season to talk up our club to your boating friends and relatives and consider hosting them at the island for a visit. As we all agree, the club sells itself if given the opportunity!
I would like to officially welcome Chuck Custard to the Bridge as our incoming Secretary, and Rob Grant as our newest member of the Board. These two gentlemen are excellent additions to the leadership of the club and will work to make the club the best on the lake! As you complete your dues remittance for the upcoming season, I would appreciate your consideration of making a donation towards the initiative of your choice as explained in the dues package. Please mark your calendars for the 2019 Commodores Ball which will be held on March 16, 2019 at the Blossom Heath Facility. Amy and I look forward to a fun filled and memorable evening with many of you. Official invitations will be forthcoming. We have about 90 days to the beginning of the official boating season! I for one can t wait!!! Fair winds and following seas, Cliff Cohen Commodore GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE REPORT From the Desk of Rich Rozewicz Happy New Year! I recall a recent quote from our outgoing Vice Commodore: The grounds are still there and there will always be maintenance to do! and not much has changed from his December report. However, on Saturday, January 5 th, P/C Whitley Jr. made a trip out to the island by boat and even spent the night! During the visit he observed and then reported to the BODs that the island was in great shape and everything was just as we left it. Not too bad for January in Michigan! The members of the Flag have been meeting since the end of last year to finalize a Grounds and Maintenance project plan for 2019. We re working in conjunction with the Planning Committee, led by P/C Whitley Sr, to ensure that we stay on track with our multi-year plans. We will be sure to keep everyone informed as these plans are finalized. A couple of items from rolling stock that were removed last year are now being serviced and we expect to have everything back at the island in the spring. Rich
