You ll work with our own shop mitten pattern written for all sizes and weights of yarn. Once you master this mitten making formula, you ll never be more than a couple hours away from a new pair of mittens and warm hands for anyone on your knit list. Crochet Jacket Jenny King s Crochet Jacket is worked in Noro Silk Garden. It uses the most familiar crochet stitches to create a raglan shrug. The shrug is surrounded by a large circle of crochet that becomes the shawl collar, draped fronts and lower back. Add long sleeves and you will be enveloped in cozy crochet. Socks: Cuff Down Begin your sock at the cuff so you will have plenty of time to get comfortable knitting in the round on small needles before learning how to shape the heel and toe with a heel flap and gusset. Finish the sock with kitchener stitch so that there will be no seam at the toe of your socks. This is the preferred class for first time sock knitters. Dare to Repair Challenge yourself to understand your knitting in a way that you never have before. Learn the anatomy of a happy, balanced knit stitch. See how stitches fit together to form a knit fabric. Using bulky and medium weight swatches, we will practice, practice, practice some of the most useful repair moves so that you can confidently perform basic repairs and get back to your knitting. Tuesday 2 to 4 pm January 8, 15, 22 Teacher: Paula Mera Mera is a pop over your head, boxy, layering piece with side seam slits and a wide, cozy turtleneck. It s worked in Aero by Berroco, a lighter than air blend of alpaca, nylon, and wool that has a huge amount of yardage per ball, despite working up at the large gauge of 3 stitches per inch. Rockin, Rows This piece from the prolific shawl designer, Martina Behm, features a large zigzag pattern. Susan s color drenched version is done in 4 self-striping colorways of Perth by Queensland. This piece also works up beautifully when you stripe it yourself, using 2 to 4 colors of a lightweight yarn of your choice. Experienced knitters will enjoy watching the zigzag grow from a small beginning to create a generous triangular shawl.
