Page 6 BEST COLOUR image _Billy Mills While on a recent short working contract in Johannesburg, some friends invited me to accompany them to a bird hide in the Marievale wetland. There weren t many different species of birds present on the day but some White Throated Swallows were around and fairly protective of their nesting areas. The photograph was taken with a Nikon D7100 and a Sigma 150-600mm lens, set in manual mode at F9, a shutter speed of 1/2500sec, focal length of 460mm and an ISO of 4000 with center weighting and an exposure compensation of 0.0EV. The post processing was done in Photoshop CC with TKv4 and NIK Collection applications. Best Senior Monochrome Joan Smit: Mountain church This picture was taken several years ago on a trip to Barkly. I used a Nikon D90 With a Nikon 18-200 lens, F8 1/600, ISO 200 manual exposure, matrix metering, auto white balance. Processed in Nix silver Efex.
VOLUME 52 NUMBER 07 Page 7 BEST JUNIOR MONO IMAGE Mike Volckman Wheels of Misfortune Whilst waiting for a steam train I came across these wheels at Creighton station during the annual aloe festival. Taken with an ageing Sony A100 at 1/250, f8.0, ISO100.. Best JNR Colour Image Bark Graeme Harvey While looking around the guava tree in our garden for some interesting things to photograph, it struck me that the bark itself was quite an interesting subject itself. Areas on the tree with the bark peeling off and the different colours was something I had not even thought of trying to photograph before. One section of the tree trunk was particularly colourful, and I took the photograph and with not too much post processing, seemed to give it a special type of modern art appeal. Canon 550D camera, Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro lens, 1//180 sec at ISO 100 and f 6.7 aperture
