EXAMPLE SCRIPT OF A COMPLIMENTARY CALL The following is an example script of how a complimentary call might run. When you read it, pay attention to the pace, interaction style and the way that I guide the conversation in order to keep to time, on point and to see if we re a good fit to work together. Note how I do NOT go into coaching here. I comment but do not coach there is a big difference! I show through my responses how I can help Jane if we were to work together. Finally, note how I am clear about when I am sending Jane more information about my coaching packages and how I clarify where to send that information to (very important!). Hello, this is Karen Knowler speaking. Hi Karen, this is Jane, we have a call booked for today. Hi Jane, I ve been really looking forward to speaking to you. Great! I ve been looking forward to talking to you too. OK, so as you know we have 15 minutes together today which can really fly by, so how about we dive right in and you tell me what s been going on for you and what brought you to book this call with me? Sure. Well... I ve been eating high-raw for about 8 months now and I love it. I know it s for me and I love the way I look and feel and for the most part I think I know what I m doing, but I think I m hitting that emotional detox thing that you talk about and I ve been really going through it recently. What kinds of things have been coming up for you? Well, suddenly I seem to be feeling very bored with certain aspects of my life. Like my job. Before I didn t mind it too much, in fact I quite liked it, but now I find myself wondering if there s bigger things out there for me and I m starting to feel confused and restless. Oh yes very normal! I went through the exact same thing myself. Oh good, because I wondered if I was going mad! I m also starting to ask bigger questions of myself and of life generally, and the dissatisfaction that I ve been feeling seems to be increasing, like I should be doing something else with my life, something more fulfilling and helpful to the planet. Is this all part of the same thing? Oh yes. I believe that we are all here for great things and to make the world a better place but the social norm that we re brought up with doesn t exactly support this, so we end up going into jobs that do tend to crush our soul. Eating raw simply makes this much more apparent and then the pain - hopefully! - moves us to take action so we get more in alignment with who we really are. That s great. That makes complete sense. Love it! Any other areas of your life that this has been showing up in specifically? Well, as I say it s quite all-pervasive really but it s mostly around my job. I m also finding that I m even thinking about moving home and, as with my job, I was really quite happy here before I went raw!! Yes, raw has a lot to answer for!! So, is this the kind of thing you coach around or is it just the food? I do coach around food of course, but actually I find that for about 90% of clients we actually end up speaking more about life issues than diet, because once they have the diet piece figured out it is usually just a case of tweaking it. The life issues are much bigger and these continue to come up the more someone eats raw, especially if it s a really clean raw diet. Ah, interesting. I have noticed that when I eat really clean, like doing a day on juice or only salads or something, that these feelings become stronger. Exactly. You re absolutely right. There are times where I wonder if it s all a bit much, but I know I don t want to give up the raw. I just need more help in knowing what to do about all of this, because as scary as it feels sometimes I do feel that I m on a really special path but I don t have anyone to talk to about it, let alone get guidance from. Well, I have some options for working with me that I know could really help you. Have you ever had coaching before? Not really. I ve read a few coaching type books and I roughly know what coaching is but I ve never worked with a coach 1:1 before. Do you think it s something you d like to do? Oh yes, anything to get out of this fog and confusion really. I don t think I can stay in this limbo for much longer honestly. I understand. Well, coaching is a perfect fit for the issues you are facing, and that s because it s all about moving forward. In coaching we don t get into analysing things too much or lamenting about what s wrong, we simply focus on getting clear about where you are today, where you want to be and help you get from A to B in a way that feels really good to you. I could definitely do with some of that!... So what kinds of things do you offer? Well, I do offer one-off sessions just to get a feel for coaching, but honestly with the kinds of things we re talking about here, it would be much more appropriate to consider one of the coaching packages which run for 3 months or more. Can you tell me more about those? I can, except the packages are rather in-depth - as in, there s a lot to them. Usually with coaching it is just a case of booking a set number of sessions per month, but with me I offer actual packages which include a lot more than just the coaching - they are much more juicy! There are three different packages that could work for you, although I think probably options 1 and 2 are most appropriate.
