It is unclear where you came upon this information but it is erroneous in all respects: 1. The dinner held on 4/4/2015 at Spago Restaurant was arranged by Spago, 2. Reservations were made through Spago 3. Full payment for the dinner was made to Spago for the benefit of Spago 4. No part of the reservation price was directed to nor paid to MAZON. The only benefit to MAZON was a private donation from the owner of Spago in an amount determined in her discretion and without reference to the revenue for the evening. MAZON did not arrange, underwrite nor solicit funds. Please correct your records forthwith and communicate your recognition that your notice is in error. Very truly yours, Barbara H. Save the Children July 14, 2016 City of Beverly Hills Police Dept. Charitable Solicitations Commission Attn: Lieutenant Lincoln Hoshino 464 N. Rexford Drive Beverly Hills, CA 90210 Dear Lieutenant Hoshino: I am in receipt of your letter dated June 21, 2016, which is attached hereto for reference. Per instructions from dated June 30, 2016, I submit the following explanation as to why no financial statement has been filed for Permit #2015-115. In October 2015, Save the Children applied for Permit #2015-115 from Beverly Hills with the expectation that its then-vendor, Developing Awareness, would engage in canvassing efforts in Beverly Hills to solicit donations from the public on Save the Children's behalf. Under the terms of its agreement with Save the Children, Developing Awareness was responsible for filing any necessary reports following the campaign. Save the Children terminated its relationship with Developing Awareness in April 2016 due to difficulties in the relationship. This termination occurred prior to Developing Awareness engaging in any canvassing or other solicitation activity in Beverly Hills on Save the Children's behalf. As such, no solicitations occurred in Beverly Hills pursuant to Permit #2015-115 during the permit period. Developing Awareness was subsequently sold in May 2016 If Save the Children must submit additional documentation or filings in connection with Permit #2015-115, or if you would like additional information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to let me know. I have been communicating with Emma and she does a great job of following up. I informed her that all of the fundraising went through Special Olympics. I did not hold on to any of the information and the people we worked with are no longer there. All of our events and costs were underwritten so we had no expenses and the hotels were paid for directly by Special Olympics. I really don't know how to fill out the statement because funds were collected, but I do not have access to those records. What do you suggest? All the best, Alissa ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: <enica@beverlyhills.org> Date: Tue, Aug 2, 2016 at 12:37 PM Subject: Overdue Financial Statement 2015-012 To: Alissa Roston <aroston1@gmail.com> Hello Alissa, Please fill out the attached Financial Statement and submit it to the Charitable Solicitations Commission. Please TAB through in sequence to correctly tabulate the totals. If your organization failed to raise funds during the event, please write a statement addressing the Charitable Solicitations Commission in which you state the reasoning. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, 1
