Background For 2007 two/three thematic FOR-LEARN mutual learning workshops plus one consolidation workshop are foreseen We want to use these workshops in an optimum way addressing needs of the community and DG Research Some proposals based on: 1. Needs identified by FOR-LEARN team 2. Proposals by DG Research 3. Issues brought up within this series of WS 4. Results from group work in previous session (in italic)

1 Foresight in ERA Issue: Role of Foresight in ERA Guiding questions: How can Foresight support Policy definition for ERA ERA forming through moderation of stakeholder dialogue Possible Approach for ML: Assessment of Foresight practises across various ERA instruments (Networks of Excellence, Technology Platforms, ERA-NETS ) Identification of best practices Development of methodological support targeted for different types of research fields More intelligent policy design for ERA Design & implementation of policy instruments Optimisation of funding arrangement Mutual learning to establish a common language & understanding and to advance existing knowledge by synthesising knowledge FORLEARN FORSOC
