Accotex AccoSmart The new Accotex AccoSmart Sandwich-Cots are based upon a completely new, revolutionary technology platform. By combination of two tailor-made, high quality elastomer layers, AccoSmart cots feature higher deformation and provide larger contact surfaces compared to conventional one-layer soft cots. Technological Background With the introduction of the new Accotex AccoSmart technology platform, the concept of shore hardness to determine the quality of a cot cannot be applied anymore. Technically, the contact-surface between cot and yarn predominantly accounts for yarn quality. The contact-surface is directly related to the amount of deformation of the cot. Due to the unique combination of two tailor-made elastomer layers, AccoSmart cots feature higher deformation compared to conventional one-layer cots. Added value longer service lifetime In general soft cots produce superior yarn quality values as the softer the surface of the cot, the longer the contact area. However, the lifetime of cots is restricted by the wear and tear properties of the cot. Solution The new AccoSmart achieves an improved service lifetime on the same yarn quality-level of a soft cot through its unique combination of a very soft inside layer and a harder elastomer outer layer. This combination provides the optimum solution to a longer service life time. Added value yarn quality By contrast, the use of a hard cot achieves a longer service lifetime due to better abrasion resistance, but adversely affects the yarn quality due to the hardness of the cot material. There is ultimately a trade-off between the hardness of the cot material and the quality of the yarn. Solution The AccoSmart achieves improved yarn quality and the same service lifetime when compared to a conventional spinning cot. It achieves improved yarn quality because of the unique combination of two independent layers with individual properties which influence the yarn quality positively.
