RESolution V2 Manual Note for the German Manual: Yellow Bottle thick CA Pink Bottle Med CA Blue tube 5 minute Epoxy Green tube 90 Minute Epoxy Construction of the Fuselage Step 1: Cover the plan with a transparent film Please make sure that a RIGHT and a LEFT side part is created The construction of the right side part is shown. The build-up of the left side-detail should be done at the same time The front bracing R2 (Ply 2.0mm) is attached to the front and top on the side part R1 (balsa 2.0mm) (Thick CA) The reinforcement R3 (Ply 2.0mm) should also be glued to the side part (Thick CA) Step 2: Fasten the lower stringer R4 (Balsa 4x4x1010mm) down flush to the side part (Thick CA) Glue the top stringer R5 (Balsa 4x4x1010mm) flush to the top of the side part and the R3 stiffener (Thick CA) Glue the rear reinforcement R6 (Balsa 3.0mm) between the strings at the aft end of the side part (Thick CA) Bring the vertically grained reinforcements R7.1 - R7.6 (balsa 2.0mm) to the appropriate position and glue them in place (Med CA) Remove excess stringer sections 1

Step 3. Clamp the two wing holders from one part each of R8 (ply 2.0mm) and R9 (Ply 2.0mm) (Thick CA) Glue the nuts R10 (M3) into the wing holders. Make sure that no glue gets into the threads (5 min Epoxy) NB: In order to obtain a straight fuselage it is important for the following work that the wing holders and the formers are aligned exactly at right angles to the fuselage sides Fasten the wing holders into the corresponding recesses of the side bracing R3 (5 min Epoxy) Glue the formers R11 (ply 2.0mm) and R12 (Ply 2.0mm) to the side part (med CA) Step 4: Glue the left side. Use adhesives as per the right side Step 5: Insert the tail spur R15 (Balsa 3.0mm) into the support R14 (balsa 3.0mm), and glue at right angles (med CA) Glue the tail spur with the support plate to the rear fuselage sides (Thick CA) IMPORTANT: Make sure the fuselage is straight The two R13 (Balsa 2.0mm) parts should be glued together and then glued to the front of the fuselage sides. For this purpose, place R24.1 and R24.2 (Balsa 2.0mm) approximately at the point between the sides of the fuselage where they are later installed (thick CA) The nose bulkhead and the side parts should be clamped Clamp the holder for the Histart hook from the parts R24.3 and R24.4 (Ply 2.0mm) and glue it at the spot shown in the plan (5 min epoxy) Fasten the bottom of the fuselage R17.1-R17.11 (balsa 2.0mm) one after the other. Trim the last board R17.11flush to the end of the fuselage (thick CA) 2

Step 6: Assemble the nose from the parts R16 (Balsa 8.0mm) and glue it to the front former R13 (thick CA) When using a 800mAh battery glue the part R16.1 (balsa 3.0mm) in the centre of the parts R16 as per the diagram Rework the opening in the former R13 according to the battery chosen. The noseblock may also need fettling Insert the pushrod guide tubes R18 (plastic 2.0x 1000 mm) and glue them to the areas marked in the plan (5 min epoxy) Glue the upper planking R19.1-R19.6 (balsa 2.0mm) one after the other (thick CA) Make sure that the trunk is straight and does not twist. For example, Place one ruler on the wing support and the support of the tail, and check from behind??overcoming guide tubes?? Step 7: Glue the upper cladding R20 (balsa 2.0mm) flush to the noseblock (thick CA) Adjust the hatch doubler R21 (balsa 2.0mm) to the fuselage with a front extension of 4mm for the two R23 parts and then glue them to the center of the R22 (Balsa 2.0mm). The slots for the closure must lie one above the other (thick CA) The two R23 (ply 2.0mm) parts must be glued on both sides in the edges of the hatch doubler R21. The rear edge of the bandage on the side stick to which the slots for the closure are (thick CA) Remove the already clamped loose R24.1 (balsa 2.0mm) and glue on the front of the R25 (balsa2.0mm) (thick CA) Place an approx. 7 mm long rest pushrod guide tube flush into the slit of the hatch part at the front (med CA) Put the battery hatch on the fuselage and push it towards the front against the R20 Attach the planking R25 with the adhesive part R24 downwards so that a approx. 0.5mm gap remains between the battery hatch and R25 (Thick CA) Step 8: Sand the fuselage to the cut C, D, E and F 3

The transition from "square" to "round" occurs mainly at the nose block Step 9: Glue the horizontal stab tips R27 (Balsa 3.0mm) to the horizontal stab R26 (Balsa 3.0mm) (Thick CA) Glue the elevator tips R29 (Balsa 3.0mm) to the elevator sections R28 (Balsa 3.0mm) (thick CA) Glue the assembled elevator sections to the elevator joiner R30 (wood 3x5x69mm) (thick CA) Glue the vertical stab tip R32 (Balsa 3.0mm) to the vertical stab R31 (Balsa 3.0mm) (thick CA) Glue the rudder tips R34 (balsa 3.0mm) and R35 (balsa 3.0mm) to the rudder R33 (balsa 3.0mm) (thick CA) Sand all parts. The leading edges of the guide structures are rounded off. The front edges of the rudder & elevator are given an angled leading edge to ensure freedom of motion. The rear edges of the rudder & elevator are sanded on both sides to approx. 1 mm (see plan) The weight savings (not shown) Construction of the Wing Step 10: The plan can have dimensional differences to the components due to environmental influences. Focus on the construction of the flat parts manufactured according to the CNC. Cover the plan with a transparent film Place the H1 (balsa 1.5mm) support strip at the designated position Make sure that the left and right halves are formed. The ribs F3, F4, F5 and F7 as well as the reinforcements F6 have larger bores for receiving the joiner tube for the left side. These are marked on the parts with "r" and "l" behind the part number. The end strip F2 (ply 1 mm) has two plywood layers with sharp grinding at the back end up to the marking. See the "detail" Glue the two ribs F3 (balsa 1.5mm) for the left and right side together (thick CA) On the ribs R3 on both sides glue a rib F4 (ply 1.5mm) (thick CA) On each side of the rib F7 (ply 1.5mm) stick a reinforcement F6 (ply 1.5mm) (thick CA) The spar tubes should be cut and trimmed to get about 10-15 mm in excess of the section length. 4

One after the other, the ribs F5 and F5 to F13 should be mounted on the spar. The ribs are glued to the spar only at point 11 Align the ribs with the end strip F2 and glue them (med CA) Step 11: The ribs should be parallel to the ribs on the plan and at right angles to the spar Fasten the leading edge F14 (GFK 2.0x 1000 mm) to length and glue (med CA) In the case of the root ribs F3 / 4, the wood boring has to be reworked somewhat in order to be able to match to the dihedral accordingly The root ribs F3 / 4 are installed with the help of the angle template W1 (balsa 1.5mm). This is fixed with epoxy in the next working step (med CA) Fasten the ribs F5 to F12 to the spar (med CA) Align the ribs F13 with the angle template W2 and glue them together with the spar (med CA) Then glue the fusible flywheel F15 (ply 1.5mm) (thick CA) Glue the spoiler servo mounts F16 (balsa 1.5mm) (med CA) Sand the ends of the ribs to match the trailing edge Step 12: Make sure that the right and left parts are created Assemble the spoiler frames from one part each F17 (balsa 1.5mm) and two parts F18 (balsa 1.5mm) (thick CA) The spoilers are assembled from two each split F19 (balsa 1.5mm) (thick CA) The spoiler frames are glued in the recess of the ribs (med CA) Attach the planking F20 (balsa 1.5mm) (med CA) The flaps insert into the frame and sand the profile correspondingly. To prevent damage to the surrounding ribs, attach them with adhesive tape rough the brass pipe F21.1 (7x58mm) at the gluing spots well with sandpaper, degrease and glue in the left half of the wing (90 minute epoxy) The steel joiner F21.2 (6x116mm) and the locking pin f21.3 (2x16mm) have to be roughened, degreased and glued in the right half of the wing (90 minute epoxy) 5

The root rib as well as the reinforcement F6 are scoured with epoxy (90 minute epoxy) Step 13: Insert the half ribs F22, F23 and F24 (balsa 2.0mm), align them and glue them together with the spar and the leading edge (med CA) Attach the planking F25 (ply 0.6mm). Make sure that the holes coincide with the recesses in the root ribs (thick CA) (note there are no recesses in the root ribs) The open the small holes in the root rib with a 3 mm drill Cut the leading edge rod and spar with a fine metal saw and sand until flush with the ribs Sand he planking strips to match the root rib Step 14: Sand the end strip F27 (ply 1.0mm) at the back end up to the marking of the two plywood layers Place the ribs F28 to F38 on the spar one after the other. The ribs are glued to the spar only at point 15 Align the ribs with the end strip F27 and glue them together (Med CA) Step 15: Align the ribs parallel to the ribs on the plan and at right angles to the spar. Cut the leading edge F39 (GFK 2.0x 1000 mm) to length and glue (Med CA) Align the rib F28 with the angle template W2 and glue it with the spar (Med CA) Glue Ribs 29 to 38 to the spar (Med CA) Insert half ribs F40 to F49, align and glue to leading edge & spar (Med CA) Cut the leading edge rod and spar with a fine metal saw and sand until flush with the ribs Step 16: Glue the tip block F50 and sand flush (Thick CA) Glue the wingtips F51 to the tip block (Thick CA) 6

Step 17 Fasten the tip joiners F52 (GRP 1.5mm) on one side and insert with this side to the spar into the square cutouts of the end ribs Slide the other wing section onto the joiners until the ribs are aligned Glue the two sections at the leading and trailing edges (Med CA) If everything fits, the two connecting ribs are glued. Add a droplet of adhesive at a distance of approx. 15 mm to the gap between the two ribs and press together (Med CA) Glue the spar and tip joiners together (90 minute Epoxy) Covering Step 18: Information on the application of Oracover film can be found at www.oracover.de (Oracover is sold under the Ultracote brand in much of the world, www.horizonhobby.com) The covering of the top as well as the bottom can be done in one piece. So one spares the application of the foil at the thin leading edge. The control surfaces and spoilers can either be live hinged or attached with a hinge strip. 1) First, the foil is attached on the underside of the trailing edge of the inside surface 2) Cut the foil at the rear edge and cut off flush. The foil overlaps later by 0.5mm 3) Turn the foil around the leading edge to the top and attach only to the edge of the end strip 4) Fold the foil at the rear edge downwards and trim it off. Remove all remaining foil residues as well as the folding boxes with approx. 2mm overlap and attach. Carefully tension the foil 5) Attach the ready-made spoilers as shown at the beginning with a ca 5mm wide foil strip on the inside over the whole long edge 6) Fold from above and attach with an approx. 10 mm wide strips across the top 7) In the case of the control units, the control surfaces are first attached on the inside with a strip of approx. 5mm wide 8) On the top a 10 mm wide stripe film is used for the hinge 7

Tail Assembly Step 19: 1) Carefully remove the coverning film from the tail & fuselage surfaces, on the underside of the elevator and the key holes 2) Place the vertical stabilizer at right angles in the keyed holes in the horizontal stabilizer and glue (med CA) Suggest Epoxy here from experience. 3) Place the tail surfaces in the fuselage bracket, align it with the support insert and glue it together (5 minute epoxy) 4) Fasten the control horn F53 (GRP 1.5mm) with the lever to the front in the spoilers (med CA) 5) Glue the control horn for the rudder R36 (GRP 1.5mm) in the slot in the left side 6) Glue the control horn for the elevator R37 (GRP 1.5mm) into the slot in the underside of the right elevator Radio Install Step 20: 1) Glue the servo tray R42 (ply 3.0mm) as far back as possible. Attach the servo arms to the servo s to point directly outwards. 2) Insert the servos and screw down. 3) Pull the bowden cables R38 (spring steel 0.8x1000mm) at one end and attach the threaded connectors R39 (M2). 4) Screw on the locknuts R40 (M2) and the Clevises R41 (M2) 5) Feed the bowden cables into the guides and cut off with a little excess 6) Bend the end of the bowden cable to the right and hang up at the control horn. To secure the bowden cable a section of guide tube (approx. 5mm) should be glued at the end. ATTENTION: Roughen and degrease the glue site. There must be no glue in the bore of the control horn (5 minute epoxy) 7) Attach the clevises to the servo arms 8) In the case of the spoilers, the servo mount lugs are removed and the servos are attached with double-sided adhesive tape, as shown in section B. The servos cables are extended with appropriate extension cables. The control rod (rest of R38) are bent z-shaped on the servo side and attached on the servo arm. At the control horn bend the rod at right angles and secure as described above with a glued guide tube. (5 minute epoxy) 8

9) Install receiver and receiver battery 10) The wing is attached with the nylon bolts R43 (m3x30) and R44 (M3x20) into the fuselage mount nuts 11) Screw the high-start hook into the middle hole Alignment Step 21: 1) Place the assembled model on a flat surface and measure it. The measurements must be the same on both sides. CG and Control Throws Step 22: The center of gravity is 64mm behind the leading edge. For the first flight adjust the rudder throw to +/- 25mm and to +/- 11mm for the elevator. Final inspection and flight Please check the wing is on evenly and check the control sirfaces for correct function. Before the start Batteries charged? (Also transmitter batteries) First try the RESolution with a hand launch After the throw, the model should complete an even straight flight, if necessary something must be trimmed. If everything fits, the first high start can be tried. In this case, the further forward the front hook is mounted, the flatter the angle is and the easier it is to carry out corrections during the high start. Have fun with building and flying! 9
